I know, I know, hotels are supposed to offer the latter, but I'm pointing it out because the hostel I was checking in at San Juan Old Town wasn't open 24/7 so finding an affordable room for my first night in San Juan was such a big deal for me. Pros (+) This place is dirty. The staff is rude. the shower is in the closet. No towels. No wash clothes. They put two twin beds and called it a king.
Cons (-) The whole place. It needs burnt down and shut down.

Pros (+) Felt safe and clean there. Close to the beach and restaurants. All the parking meters were broken, so it was actually easy to find free parking. Very no frills room.
Cons (-) Taking our luggage up three flights of stairs. No elevator.

Pros (+) Location was wonderful, easily accessible to many restaurants and beaches. Room was cleaned daily, sheets, towels all replaced and floor swept. Great place to stay if you are on a budget, overall everything was wonderful. We did not want to leave!
