Man running this place very helpful.
Some food was free, but not enough. The coffee was okay, but they only had instant.
They put me in the wrong room at first. I had to move all my stuff over again and I really do think that they shouldn't even allow mixed dormitories.
Guests do drugs and drink alcohol in hostel. Rooms very dirty. Carpets stained and smell like urine and feet. Crack pipes & beer cans on rooftop. Housekeeper gets drunk in kitchen with boyfriend. Housekeeper puts dirty dishes in cabinet for guests to use. Long term guests....addicts. Housekeeper keeps same trash bag in bathroom trashcan over & over. Housekeeper changed kitchen trash and then started using kitchen stove with same gloves. Furniture is soiled and smells. Housekeeper cooks food on stove & uses same gloves to make beds. Housekeeper uses same blanket for 4 guests & never washed. No towels. Dirty. Dirty. Dirty hostel. Not for European guests.
A complicated situation and the people at the hostel really went out of their way to be helpful. Even though this is a simple place to stay, I must give them a rating of 10 on account of the graciousness which they have shown, from excepting food deliveries, to be super polite on the telphone... I am impressed. Thank you.
Travelers going to the Bay Area in California who want a clean place to stay for not a lot of money can check out the European Hostel. This hostel offers simply decorated rooms that are comfortable and very affordable.
There are 25 rooms in the hotel. Guests can get private rooms, however, there are also dorm rooms available with four, six, and eight beds. Bathrooms are shared. All rooms have free WiFi included. Children are welcome, but note that there are no extra beds to request for the rooms.
Guests will have use of a microwave and a refrigerator in the common area for making and storing food. The hostel is located in downtown San Francisco so there are tons of food options otherwise. Outside the hotel, guests will find Rocco’s Café for American, Sam’s Diner serving Korean food, Sightglass Coffee, Ananda Fuera, and many more.
The European Hostel has an ATM available for guests to use. There are also concierge services for help with any tickets or tours visitors are interested in. Not far away there are bicycle rentals so guests can get out and see the city in a different way. The South of Market neighborhood the hotel is located in is full of art and cultural experiences to take in. AT&T Park is close by, as well as Louise Davies Symphony Hall and the Moscone Convention Center.
