I might probably go again. The scenery was amazing from the lodge. It was breathtaking. I will share the pictures as well. I loved the two days I spent there, be it staff or the room or the kitchen or the sitting lounge or the people came there.
The limited public transport to the lodge and Grinton made it hard to commute or I waited for hours to catch the next bus to the lodge or to the rail station in Darlington and Northallerton. If you are going with your own vehicle, it is the perfect place to go.
Views are amazing
Not really clean and abit of hassle if you want to cook or watch tv
Location was lovely
Duty manager wasn't welcoming at all and they don't have a chef so the reception staff cook the food and it was terrible. Stayed at other YHA hostels and the food has bren great because they have the staff required to manage the hostel correctly.
The location was amazing, with a fabulous play area outside.
During the evening meal it took a long time for our meal to arrive, and our drinks kept being forgotten. But it was a busy shift for them.
This was a great place to stay, the staff were AWESOME! we just finished a 108mile bike ride from St Bees and the space and environment were so idyllic. I wish we would have known about the incline leading up to the accommodation!! :0 :) That's a bit of feedback to whoever is going to read this.
