Pros: Amazing place to stay with such history, thanks to Sharon for taking the time to share the history
10,0 Excellent
Pros: really enjoyed seeing the old house. learning the history. enjoyed playing pool on the massive pool table.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: The accommodation was grand and the hosts provided us with impeccable service; they made sure our stay was comfortable and pleasurable. They went out of their way to offer their assistance. They shared interesting facts about the heritage home and gave us an attic tour which was interesting. The silver service breakfasts over 3 days were a delight and the range of choice was excellent, not to mention the quality. A memorable stay :)
Cons: I could not fault our stay as everything was provided in as much as it possibly could be.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Fantastic heritage property overlooking town. Absolutely beautiful cooked to order breakfast. Nothing is too much trouble for your hosts. I loved the full size billiard room. When we return to Tasmania we will be coming back to stay here!
Cons: Nothing negative for us. There are stairs to the upstairs rooms which may be difficult for mobility impaired people
5,8 Okay
Pros: Owners are extremely friendly and have decorated the rest of the bedrooms in the main house to perfection. I would definitely stay here again but only in the rooms within the main house not in the self catering apartment. Loved the decor in the bedrooms within Hanna's Place and the beds and sheets were very comfortable.
Cons: Hanna's Place. Lounge/dining room and kitchen area in this self catering apartment was not modelled to the exacting standards and attention afforded executing the rest of the house. Four adults can not sit comfortably in the lounge area. Also heating is not sufficient for the entire apartment and heating was not put on prior to our arrival.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: The dressing gowns were a lovely touch
9,6 Excellent
Pros: Very interesting and historic place. you feel like your in another world or stepped back in time. great kitchen if you need it and not to far to walk to town for a feed and few drinks.
Cons: Place would be a little cold in the winter, but the bed is so warm, you wont go cold at night
10,0 Excellent
Pros: The view of Queenstown from the accommodation! Steve gave us a good intro of our room, tayberry jam and marmalade goes well on the toast, kitchen is well equipped.

Pros: Loved the cut fruit that was available for brekky. The lady was very friendly and helpful with questions. Brekky was light and palatable. Accommodation had character being a former residence. Proximity to town and attractions was a plus.

Pros: The fireplace is really nice (gas too so easy to get going!) And the spa upgrade was wonderful! Hosts were lovely people. The VHS library was nostalgic and a nice complimentary offering!
Cons: Everything was great - my only suggestion: a bit better coffee and tea options in the kitchen! :)
8,3 Excellent
Pros: Was beautifully presented
Cons: The bed was too small for too adults , dunk in the middle was very uncomfortable. Could do with another heater /air conditioner
9,2 Excellent
Pros: Large apartment with a bedroom upstairs (with ensuite) and bedroom downstairs with seperate full bathroom. Kitchen, divining table, lounge and fireplace. Laundry was in an external building. Rooms were of generous size, especially the one upstairs.

10,0 Excellent
Pros: Perfect location, walking distance to River Cruise boats. Host was lovely, greeted with a hot chocolate & room upgraded. Room was spacious, heating & elect blanket on bed was a treat. Spacious room with kitchenette.
Cons: The only thing if being picky is some of the grout in shower needs replacing.
8,3 Excellent
Pros: Excellent dinner in the restaurant and comfy beds
Cons: Probably only downfall was the state of the couches.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful part of Tasmania and a terrific place to stay. Great location. Treated to a delicious hot chocolate on arrival! Attention to detail apparent from a charming and friendly, professional property owner. Incredibly helpful when I lost a piece of jewellery. She found it and returned it to New Zealand. An absolute star!
Cons: Honestly hard to fault this place. They were renovating the restaurant in the off season whilst we were there, but provided a helpful list of local restaurants which were close by, so handled the issue professionally and appropriately.
9,2 Excellent
Pros: Good location and quite.
Cons: Bathroom a bit dated
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Rooms were better than anticipated.
7,5 Good
Pros: Great room and location.
Cons: Restaurant was closed, breakfast was poor.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: The owner's warm reception and personal farewell was absolutely lovely. What a kind hearted lady! The room itself was spacious, clean and had thoughtful touches. We were very comfortable. A great option if youre looking for something a bit nicer than the family holiday shacks in the area.
Cons: Through no fault of the hotel, the hotel restaurant was closed as it was undergoing renovations. It was a shame because dining is limited in Strahan and I got the impression Risby Cove would be the best balance of quality versus value.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Clean, modern room with high standard bathroom The staff gave a warm &generous welcome with some nice extra touches.
Cons: We struck it during some renovations (it’s the quiet season after all) so had no access to the restaurant which was closed for renovations.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: When we arrived the room was warmed. Free Chocolate and Port was supplied and within 10 minutes the lovely hostess had bought out hot chocolates. The view was spectacular and the room was lovely.
Cons: Tap leaked.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: I turned up and mentioned I had a cold. Five minutes later, there was a knock on my door, and the host was holding a complimentary hot chocolate. The complimentary port in the room also was a nice touch. Room was bigger than I expected, and was very warm on a cold August day.
Cons: Nothing. Very pleased I changed my booking to this place - originally for the free wifi as I had some work to do, but the switch was worth it for more than that.

7,5 Good
Pros: The breakfast was great. The host was lovely and attentive and very interesting with the history of the house and town. The location was great.
Cons: Please don't publish - just for feedback. The rooms were dusty, and the high ceilings had cobwebs, it is a traditional property but there are extension leads etc which spoiled the heritage look. It is winter and it would have been nice to have the fireplaces (gas heaters) on to create ambience and romance????

10,0 Excellent
Pros: The bed was so comfortable I had the best night's sleep in ages. The Host is knowledgeable in Ormiston House history. Terri is a pleasant and hospitable man. We thoroughly enjoyed our first night as we had him all to ourselves and spent an evening of exchanging stories of the past characters of Tasmania. We will very definately be booking into Ormiston House on our nest trip to Tassie. Hopefully all my family will be able to join us in this unique experience.
Cons: The fact that I had only booked two nights. Next visit will be booking for at least 5 days to one week.
9,2 Excellent
Pros: The property is lovely and steeped in history. Breakfast was good with perfect fruit salad and stewed apricots and freshly baked croissants.
Cons: The communal areas, especially the breakfast room could be a bit warmer but I appreciate it is difficult to keep a property of that size heated! This would not stop me from staying again, the host and house are lovely
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Historical and comfortable. Not anything you’d find in a chain service. Unique with a long and wonderful history. Relax and enjoy the ambience of this history and leave the modern world far behind. ‘Nuff said.
Cons: Nothing bad to say. Except breakfast offerings were basic cereals. Might have thrown in a spot of porridge to warm your innards against the cold winds.

Pros: The history of it, and the staff
Cons: Nothing
