Overview Reviews

10,0 Excellent
Pros: We had a wonderful stay at Semilla Verde. Although the property is not located in the town itself it was very close and accessible via a short taxi ride. This was an advantage to us because you are in what they call the Highlands in Santa Cruz. And because we were in the highlands, we were surrounded by numerous giant tortoises roaming the farm. It was absolutely glorious to see them up close and personal! The room we stayed in had a wonderful view up to Tortuga Bay and over the forest canopy of the farm. The room itself was very comfortable, clean and had every creature comfort you could ask for. Our hosts, Robert (owner of the property) and Cattya (manager) are the BEST! Like staying with good friends, very warm, accommodating and friendly. They were always on hand for advice and a good chat. Would we recommend them? Yes indeed...very very highly!!!
Cons: None
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Cattya was outstanding!
9,6 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful room. Gorgeous part of the island. Katia was so helpful finding things for us to do that we would not have known to do.
Cons: Cost of transportation for touring was a bit expensive.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Our stay at SV was remarkable and in every respect outstanding. The beds are comfortable, the rooms endearing and thoughtfully decorated, and the views completely accurate. The attention to detail is uncanny. We had lunch and dinner there during our stay and it was delicious, beautifully plated and actually Ecuadorian! The tortoises on site are breathtaking, the house dog Saba is so sweet, and Cattya and the SV team make every effort to make your stay a pure delight. Cattya is the best resource of all in all her contacts and wisdom, and I would encourage every guest not just to ask her questions and for her recommendations but also to get to know her as she is a wonderful person and it’s clear this work is her passion! Stay at SV and you won’t regret it!!!
Cons: There’s not a single thing to dislike about SV.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Absolutely fabulous! Their dog will show you around the grounds and where the tortoises are! We felt extremely spoiled the entire time! 100% recommend!
9,6 Excellent
Pros: Great hospitality by the two hosts and overall great food and service!
Cons: Nothing to complain about.

10,0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful hotel, amazing staff & rooms, made to feel extremely special and the staff went the extra mile to look after us. Brilliant cocktails down at the waterfront watching the sea turtles and pelicans - really not to be missed. The rooms were stunning! WiFi signal was okay- but typical of Santa Cruz. We organised a trip as part of our transfer from the airport to the hotel- this is well worth doing; includes lunch, visits to giant tortoise reserve, los gemelos and the lava tunnels. Highly recommend doing this!
Cons: We wish we were there for longer!
9,6 Excellent
Pros: Luxurious stay right on the water. Beautiful rooms
Cons: Breakfast was ok but room for improvement
6,7 Good
Pros: pleasant room, nice outside furniture, excellent housekeeping
Cons: everything to do with the restaurant was below par. Untrained, uncoordinated personnel, talking to each other in loud voices/screaming until 2200 in the evening - bad for someone with room at the ground floor! Busy with each other, not with the (few) guests. Dinner low quality and overpriced: breakfast not at 5* level, and with chaotic service. In the week I was there, Management was invisible, with (restaurant and kitchen) staff clearly unsupervised.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Meals
Cons: Prices
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Well organized clean hotel.Beautiful location !Helpful staff!
9,6 Excellent
Pros: Nice and very clean facilities. Super helpful and friendly staff. If you book a room, do not forget to use that 'second key' to check out the view from the roof at sunset and/or sunrise if you are around then. Muy bien!
Cons: Pricey (for Galapagos). Plus, getting to facility from the port area by water taxi was an ordeal our first trip to check-in. We literally had to wait 45 minutes to get on a boat to travel 200 meters. Other times (per water taxi) were quicker.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Absolutely unique experience right on the waterfront with views in every direction. Sunsets on the top patio were inspiring. Staff went above and beyond to make our stay top notch and the owner even provided us with some amazing history! Snorkeling Las Grietas was beautiful as well and only a short walk away.
Cons: We would have liked to have had more time to spend here!

Pros: The food of in-house restaurant will worth the money spent. The nature, beach and hospitality are great. The swimming pool will be a delight surprise as you can swim with ducks.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: A great option
9,2 Excellent
Pros: Structure and service are amazing.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Fantastic quiet spot. Food is excellent. Breakfast is a bit different every morning. All staff were very friendly and helpful. Very nice to have dinner outside. Fish was delicious , pasta dishes as well.
9,6 Excellent
Pros: The Finch Bay was the perfect place to stay and rest after 4 days of touring. It was very relaxing with a great pool near the bar, a small beach and great walk to some swimming caves. Fantastic dinner and breakfast with an exceptional staff. Ask for the quiet rooms with a view of the jungle.
Cons: There wasn't anything we didn't like. It was pricey (but everything is in the Galapagos) but well worth the journey. Note that you must take a 5 minute water taxi and 5 minute walk from town. If you call ahead, they tote your bags to and from the water taxi.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: - The overall experience was great, the environment is beautiful the hotel being surrounded by beautiful beaches - Great food and cocktails quality (bar by the pool) - Amazing service - we were served snacks and drinks around the pool and the staff has a great attention in details
Cons: - Rooms are too small for the standard of the hotel - No private balcony or direct sea view
9,2 Excellent
Pros: The staff and shared area were lovely. Tours organized via hotel were great. Chef was really open to show me around the kitchen area and the hotel garden. Thanks as well to Pepe for the most refreshing pisco sour. Really relaxing holidays.
Cons: Rooms are simple and clean, I don't mind simple, but for that price bathroom could be renovated, especially in the suite with sea view.

8,8 Excellent
Pros: Location right on the water is the point to this place. Cozy up to sea lions and iguanas as you have a cocktail on the deck. The property feels interwoven with the vegetation and rocks which is cool.
Cons: Due to the window and floor layout, our bathroom got little ventilation which led to a bit of a mildew smell.

10,0 Excellent
Pros: Location!!! Very close to restarting a, ATM, Charles Darwin Research Centre, next door to fish market, shops, everything. The location was key. The place itself was very clean and lovely ocean view balconies. The staff were all very very nice and wanted to make sure that we were happy. Delicious breakfast but we were among able to enjoy it one day because the ferries to other islands leave so early and the breakfast was not yet served.
2,9 Mediocre
Pros: Nothing
Cons: This Hotel is way overpriced at $300/night. There are many nicer hotels in Puerto Arroya at $100. The place is falling apart with broken things everywhere. The staff is not nice. The pool is never cleaned and full of guano from the birds. My room: no hot water, broken toilet, broken furniture etc. I think they are cheating on the good ratings. Never would recommend to anyone to stay here
5,8 Okay
Pros: Excellent location in Puerto Ayora, on the main street, just steps away from from the fish market and a short walk from the pier. Nice view of the sea from the restaurant and the breakfast area, with birds and iguanas coming right up next to guests.
Cons: Did not meet expectations for the price paid, especially compared to other hotels in town. Room facilities were outdated and better cleanliness was expected particularly in the bathroom area.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Very clean, convenient, and good staff
Cons: Hot tub never got hot, and the pool was freezing
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Friendly staff, with good English, amazing location right on the water. We watched iguana, turtles, seals, crabs, and many birds including frigates and blue footed boobies right from the hotel. Perfect central location with our new favorite restaurant just down the road. The fish market is a short walk away with lots of seals and birds. The pool was welcome relief on hot evenings.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was delicious and the ocean view is stunning!
Cons: Everything was great!
10,0 Excellent
Pros: the breakfast was absolutely delicious and had much to choose from! The location was central and perfect to reach any location from the hotel at minimal walking distance. Being on the main road maid taxi access flawlessly easy.
Cons: The wifi was quite slow. The entire island had slower wifi also, but a few restaurants we went to had wonderful wifi. It also wasn't working for the first 6 hours of our stay but the staff worked tirelessly to get it back and running. minor complication really.
8,8 Excellent
Pros: Upon arrival, the staff were extremely friendly, helpful and pleasant! I was offered a towel for outdoor activities because I arrived before check-in hours (which was nice because a lot of hotels/hostels actually prohibit their towels being used outside of the hotel). I was handed a fruity drink in a champagne glass & a chilled, scented spa towel! By far, Best treatment I received in Ecuador! The room was absolutely beautiful and quiet. Everything worked great. There were limited complimentary snacks & drinks for the ocean view rooms, which I found convenient. What I found funny was that on one pack of the snacks, they left the price sticker on it & it was like 45 cents but the hotel charges $3 for any extra snacks. The shower and hot water worked great. WiFi is Island wifi so not much anyone can do about that. The restaurant staff were accommodating; not very sociable, but nice. The reason I didn’t give this rating a 10/10 is because the pool was dirty, looked crystal clear & blue till I got into the pool itself. TONS of huge questionable white specks floating around, lots of dead bugs & other floaties. Also, after I checked in, I saw that the bathroom trash had not been changed from the previous folks who occupied the room. I was just there for 2 days so I didn’t care to bother reception with changing it, but sanitation considered, it’s not appealing.

9,2 Excellent
Pros: Warm welcome from the owner Rafael, who told us about the town and, as he said, “most importantly” where to eat! The (King) room was spacious with a huge bed and another single, which was helpful for arranging our bags. There was also shelving and an open wardrobe, and a small fridge. The shower was always warm. The room was thoroughly cleaned and the bed was made every day. Rafael offers an airport transfer and various tours; we went with him to the El Chato tortoise reserve and he waited for us while we looked around and had lunch, as well as chatting to us on the way there and the way back and pointing out the tortoises on the way. He is a very kind and patient man. While we speaks a little English he allowed me to practise my Spanish. Quiet at night, albeit we heard some faint snoring from one of the rooms (but it was funny rather than disruptive). We spent 7 very comfortable nights here, would highly recommend it and would come back. Thank you Rafael and family.
Cons: Mirror in the bedroom would be great. A little noisy in the morning on the road, but fine for us as we were going to bed quite early as up early anyway. Otherwise perfect.
8,8 Excellent
Pros: The owner was very friendly and looked after our baggage when we went to Isabela for two days. Bed was huge and very comfortable. Room lovely and clean.
5,4 Okay
Pros: Good location near the dock
Cons: Smelled of smoke, dirty bathroom and the loudest place I have ever stayed.

Pros: location big room
Cons: Great place, only the wifi could be better.

Pros: Location is great.

Pros: Clean, good location.. basic room, poor breakfast, ... Private entrance so not often contact with the owner
Cons: Had to.pay in cash..

7,9 Good
Pros: Very helpful staff, nice swimming pool and outside area, pool and tennis table,
Cons: noise isolation between rooms
8,3 Excellent
Pros: Location is perfect - near the port, evening street food, path to Tortuga beach.
Cons: Could be more choice and better service at breakfast.
3,8 Mediocre
Pros: Pool
Cons: The room smelled terrible, and there was a gecko on our wall. When I asked for it to be removed, the guy at the front desk told me that it won’t bother me. It then jumped on me as I was getting into bed. Horrible hotel.
9,6 Excellent
Pros: Great facilities and breakfast. Swimming pool was great, probably one of the best ones compared with the rest of Puerto Ayora's hotels. Clean room and bathroom shower worked perfect.
Cons: You need to walk 5 minutes more than other hotels to Puerto Ayora's harbor, but it is not a big problem.
9,2 Excellent
Pros: Comfortable beds Good pool Good breakfast Quiet location Good staff
Cons: Rooms little dated. Long time to get hot water in the shower
9,6 Excellent
Pros: Overall, pretty good however the hotel is st the opposite end of town from the good restaurants but it is near the docks, so overall it was good and A/C and breakfast are good.
Galapagos Verde Azul - Puerto Ayora - Building

3,0 Mediocre
Pros: Nothing
Cons: It is not 4stars hotel. It is guesthouse . It was nice 20 years ego. Poor breakfest. Dirty swimming pool.
7,1 Good
Pros: Apart from the noise it's a nice hotel with friendly ataff.
Cons: The barking of all the dogs that live around the hotel. The loud music and banging of equipment from the Cross-fit gym opposite. The windows are very basic and don't block out the noise.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: The staff was very friendly and accommodating. We speak very little Spanish and they were always patient and willing to try to communicate in English. Breakfast was awesome! Rooms were spacious and clean.
5,8 Okay
Pros: They cleaned the room and changed the towels daily, but they did not change our sheets during our 3 nights stay.
Cons: We stayed in a room A. 2 which is humid, with poor ventilation - only one small window. Beds are not comfortable, they joined 2 single mattresses to make it king size and obviously there is a hole between them. What bothered us most was noise. You can hear everything from the hall, other rooms and the kitchen. If you are light sleeper it would be impossible to sleep after 6am which is when breakfast starts, but also housekeepers make a lot of noise when cleaning the rooms as they keep talking to each other without consideration for people who what to rest. We also had issue with light during the night. In front of our window there was a light bulf in the hall, so whenever someone passed through the hall and turned on the light it lit up our room. Breakfast wasn't enough: one egg, one croissant, marmalade, butter, 6 small pieces of fruit, coffee, and too watery juice. Slow Wi-Fi, there was some hair on shower curtains.
7,9 Good
Pros: The location was good and the staff were very friendly
Cons: There were ants in the room and both my wife and I were bitten several times as we lay in bed. This definitely needs attention.

9,2 Excellent
Pros: Big rooms Good sized kitchen Lots of space to chill
Cons: WiFi but common issue for Galapagos Walk into town
7,1 Good
Pros: The staff were extremely friendly and helpful.
Cons: The hot water in the shower is powered by a gas canister so when that canister happens to run out you will be frozen by cold water. The bathroom had someone else's old razor left in it the entire time we were there. We each thought it was each other's razor, but nope, gross germ razor. There was an open bottle of Fabuloso sitting in the bathroom the entire time too. I feel like they just got halfway through cleaning and got distracted. There's no air conditioning and the fan in the room was broken but they replaced it right away. To take a shower you have to put the shower curtain outside the shower stall or it will suck in on you and slime you from all sides so I ended up hanging it over the shower bar. There are no curtains on the windows (which are plastic and broken/open to the outside air and bugs) so people basically could just watch me showering all the time. Pro tip: The hot and cold taps are on backward so if you want hot water, turn on the wrong tap and wait 5 full minutes. Other pro tip: They lock the hotel after 10pm so if you are two people there's one key you have to either leave your room door unlocked and hope that they don't lock it while you are gone, then leave the key with the other person OR give the key to the person going back and then hope that the other person gets in before 10pm. If you don't you better hope you can wake someone up with a phone call because the door bell doesn't work.
4,2 Okay
Cons: We booked this because of the very good reviews, but were very disappointed when we checked in. Location is about 30-40 min walk to the City center and Darwin Research Center. The rooms was big, but outdated and „used“. Very old bathroom and shower. Friendly staff, big only one person could speak English. Would not book it again.
7,5 Good
Pros: Staffs were kind and nice. The interior were pretty. They had nets on all window.
Cons: The bathroom’s smell was a little weird. There were big cockroaches.
9,2 Excellent
Pros: Had a big comfortable room. The hotel is a bit funny looking, like a little castle.
Cons: No too central, but it’s not a big town so you can walk to the sea pretty easy.
7,5 Good
Pros: The building is beautiful and really quite unique. It is in a very quiet corner of town, which was more than welcome for me as Puerto Ayora is a bit hectic in the centre of town. It is only a short 10-15 minute walk into town too. I must admit that I was a bit surprised at there having been a change of management since I made my booking earlier in the year. I feel that although the new management seemed a bit inexperienced at what they were doing, they did try their best to be helpful and accommodating. The food was delicious, and the Saturday evening barbecue was just amazing!

Pros: The staff, especially Joseline, were always friendly and very keen to help with suggestions on dinner, activities, what to see etc. Breakfast was a lovely homemade affair and our room was spotless and very comfortable.
Cons: Very little - the location is perhaps 'just' out of the main tourist area but genuinely only 5 minutes walk so it's not an issue.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: The owner is just amazing. She was incredibly helpful every step of the way. She got us ferry tickets, helped me plan my proposal, even mailed our keys that we accidentally brought with us from the previous hotel. There’s a reason they’re rated number 1 on TripAdvisor. I’ve been at 5 star hotels that don’t have as good of service as this B&B

Pros: Beautiful room. Gorgeous part of the island. Katia was so helpful finding things for us to do that we would not have known to do.
Cons: Cost of transportation for touring was a bit expensive.
