Caro Hotel - Valencia - Building
1
9,2 Excellent (910 reviews)
R3 985+
Overview Reviews
With a stay at Caro Hotel, you'll be centrally located in Valencia, within a 5-minute walk of Valencia Cathedral and Plaza de la Virgen. Featured amenities include complimentary newspapers in the lobby, dry cleaning/laundry services, and a 24-hour front desk.
9,6 Excellent
Pros: The design and history of the hotel and how they have incorporated the 5th Century into the modern day. It is just a fabulous hotel and the staff are so friendly and welcoming. The dining experience in the Michelin restaurant has to be exampled if you want an experience of a lifetime
Cons: My only issue was the toilet in the Arabic Tower suite was downstairs and the bedroom was upstairs. A visit during the night was a little bit of an expedition but that is my only gripe
10,0 Excellent
Pros: All of the above..and cozy bar for relaxing.
Cons: The hotel was beautifully designed a combination of sleek modern and 2000 year old history..amazing staff and unbeatable location.
7,0 Good
Pros: Hotel is well located, in a beautiful old building. Staff is friendly and helpful.
Cons: Interior design of lobby, restaurant and room is bizarre; "Late Inquisition." Room was painted in high gloss gray enamel and had one bare bulb for lighting. Restaurant is excellent, but I felt like we were in a parking lot. If you like very modern and starchy, this one's for you. Odd that none of the exterior warmth and charm is brought into the interior. There is no coffee in the rooms or lobby. You either have to do a formal breakfast in the restaurant or walk down the street for coffee. Odd, and the only one of our three hotel stays in Spain where this was the case.
7,5 Good
Pros: The hotel grounds and common areas are designed with excellent taste. Downstairs there’s a Michelin star restaurant, SUCEDE. Will blow your mind and taste guts. Highly recommended! Lastly, the hotel staff was excellent and went out of their way to try to compensate us for the inconveniences caused by the room we were in. They greeted us with a piccolo of Codorniu, invited us to breakfast (which we kindly had to refuse since because of the Xmas season we were eating way too much every day anyway and we wanted to avoid yet another heavy meal). Upon checking out and in order to compensate us for the inconveniences caused, they also gifted us a highly significant price discount. This was highly appreciated and let us believe that with exception of room 02, the rest of the hotel must be excellent. We had just bad luck to arrive the last on a weekend where they were fully booked. In fact, as they told us, we were originally booked on an upper, quieter room, but since some other guests who checked in earlier complained about room 2, we were left with that one. Had we not been in room 2, our review would have most likely been a 10. We still valued highly the service we got. All in all, sad that we didn’t get a top experience but confident that ours was the exception and not the norm in this hotel.
Cons: Room 2 can’t in our humble opinion and well traveled experience qualify for a five star hotel that takes pride in offering a singular boutique experience. Even for the lower / mid price rooms. It has an awful view to a rear, narrow street corridor. Which happens also to be the exit back door for the kitchen personnel. Thus, making it noisy after midnight, when service ends. To the other side there’s an elevator, again adding more noise. And since it’s next to the lobby and the bar, any conversation happening there echoes in the room as well. So not for people who want to enjoy a calm and relaxing stay. Lastly, one minor thing: The room didn’t have a coffee machine. We feel that this has become quite standard in most hotels of this category and it would be a great addition since nothing tops waking up with coffee in bed.
9,6 Excellent
Pros: Foods were awesome, bed and pillows were really comfortable, the design of the hotel was beautiful with historical elements. Minibar use was included in the price. You can order water and kinds of tea anytime you like and they are all complimentary.
Cons: There is No fitness center and no spa. If the hotel had these, everything would be 100% perfect.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: The hotel was gorgeous and lovely helpful staff. Highly recommend this hotel.
Cons: No towel hooks, school noise but still worth to stay there.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Location. Staff. The rooms. Attention to detail about everything. This is the best hotel I’ve ever stayed in but also the best hotel experience. We didn’t even go to the restaurant!
Cons: 11/10

Cons: Nothing.
9,0 Excellent
Pros: The staff were all very helpful and friendly. The room we booked was large and the bed was comfortable, The hotel was quiet yet close to everything. Breakfast was very good with a wide choice. The bathroom was quite open -there was an enclosed shower cubicle and the shower was amazing, We loved the hotel and would recommend it for a stay in Valencia
Cons: the lighting in the room -it was quite dark -obviously, this did not impact on our stay at all but it was a bit strange, The open bathroom may be an issue for some

10,0 Excellent
Pros: Nice and modern
9,1 Excellent
Pros: Staff, Location and breakfast are fantastic.
Cons: Nit-picking here but room lighting could do with being warmer/softer.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Clean, spacious and well appointed bedroom with a huge bathroom. Brilliant location within a two minute walk to the shops and to the iconic post office and market. The bed was huge and comfortable. The air conditioning was really effective, often I find this an issue in city centre hotels in high summer but no complaints at all
Cons: The rooms could’ve been better soundproofed as noise from both the adjacent and above rooms filtered through quite a lot. The view was of a wall but that’s part and parcel of a city hotel and were we staying longer than a night I’m sure a room with a view can be upgraded to.
9,0 Excellent
Pros: Great location, nice room. Friendly service.

9,0 Excellent
Pros: I was in Valencia for 3 nights for the marathon. On arrival the staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was clean, large and spacious with all the amenieties you would expect large tv (unfortunately no english language channels), kettle with coffee/tea and complimentary toiletteries. The metro is very close to the hotel so it is very easy to travel around the city. The wifi is also one the best I have had in a hotel very fast at all times.
Cons: Only slight problem was that the reception was always busy and was only manned by two people, it really needed to be manned by more people. My card to my room kept reseting every 24 hours for some reason and having to wait in a long line of people checking in to get back into my room was not ideal.
6,0 Good
Cons: The staff made me pay 15 e for being 5 minutes late over checkout..

Pros: Everything
Cons: Nothing

Cons: There was some dust in the closet and we found a silverfish insect in the room. The wellness area is very small.
6,2 Good
Pros: The location was great - close to all of the sights.
Cons: A/C broken on our entire floor, so windows had to be opened to cool the room. The only problem is that it was during the Fallas festival, with over a million people partying in the streets and lighting firecrackers all night long. The wi-fi didn't work most of the time.

Cons: Breakfast expensive

Cons: Bar staff not always friendly or helpful.
8,0 Excellent
Pros: The bed was really big :) Good bathroom, shower and towels.
Cons: The room for 3 people is a room for 2 people with additional guest bed, so it is a little stretched in space, but still quite nice. One of the wall sockets was slightly shaky when you unplug something from it and you can possibly remove it completely if you try really hard.

8,2 Excellent
Pros: Hotel staff were friendly and very helpful. Facility was clean and the breakfast/lunch were very good.
Cons: Location is alright and plenty of cabs were available but the metro was a few blocks away. Also, it is a bit of a hike to get over to the waterfront. The area felt safe however.

7,0 Good
Pros: Nice hotel and very clean. The food options are very good and there is a good pool and gym.
Cons: The hotel is quite a way from central Valencia
10,0 Excellent
Pros: All
Cons: Nothing
4,0 Okay
Pros: Cleanliness Service Staff in restaurant Check out - making genuine apologies for customer experience shortfalls.
Cons: This hotel is most definitely not 4 Star. On arrival to the room we were shocked by its shoddy appearance- wallpaper in very poor condition. We were offered two other rooms which allowed us to come to the conclusion rooms were in need of attention. Reception staff didn’t appear to understand our disappointment. Breakfast buffet very average and all hot items were just about warm. We choose this hotel for its superb reviews, so disappointed having anticipated a 4 star experience. We would would rate this hotel 3 star at very best. From reading online reviews the hotel manager appears to not welcome or accept developmental feedback. There is plenty available by less satisfied guests. We aired our concerns to reception staff on check out and Soraya made a note. This hotel operates a ‘low cost’ approach, if you want more you have an option to pay for it. This is advertised throughout the hotel and by staff. Not a 4 star approach. Be honest review your status and less people will be disappointed and may invest in your hotel again. Sadly we will not return or recommend your hotel to our family and friends. No kettle or complimentary water is unacceptable in a 4* rated hotel. 18 euros per day for car parking is excessive.
9,0 Excellent
Pros: Great room and good facilities. Heated indoor swimming pool is a big plus.
Cons: TV that did not allow us to plug in our own media device.
9,6 Excellent
Pros: The rooms were extremely spacious. We are a family of four travelling with a 12 and 15 year old. To find the right rooms is always somewhat difficult. This hotel was superb. Family room for two adults and 12 year old and 15 year old in room right next door. Extremely happy and so were the ‘kids’. Extremely clean. Staff amazing. It is a little further out of town but the taxi rank right outside resolves those issues and there are buses and the metro close by.
Cons: The chairs being moved across hard floors in the rooms above you. Very noisy.

Overview Reviews
The Barceló Valencia hotel oozes urbanism and modernity in the City of Arts and Sciences, offering a unique experience in this city by the Turia river. Well-connected with the airport, it is ideal for business or leisure visits.
7,0 Good
Pros: position
Cons: install a door between the room and the ALL bathroom
8,0 Excellent
Pros: The Barcelo is a modern quality hotel in a great location opposite the Science & Arts centre. The Number 19 bus stops right outside the door and you can go into the old town or to the beach for 1.5 euro's. The staff are very friendly and smile a lot. We did not eat breakfast at the hotel as we prefer to go to local cafe's. The hotel has a secure underground car park (with a very small entrance so not suitable for very large vehicles) It's 15 euro per day to park there but well worth it. The rooftop bar has a great view over the city, the service is very good but the drinks are a bit expensive. Rooms are modern bright and very clean.
Cons: Prices of drinks in the rooftop bar ... guests should get a discount as the bar has lots of external visitors. Toilet paper is poor quality.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: It was spacious, centrally located and roof top bar was excellent!!
8,0 Excellent
Pros: Comfort Size Location Value Staff Rooftop bar Beds
Cons: A bit noisy as windows not double glazed
3,4 Mediocre
Pros: Nothing
Cons: When I got to my room, the smell was just unbearable. I prefer not to use word to describe it, but I thougth I could die. When I came back to the reception desk, the fellows there looked at each other and said: "I told you. It's reaching the fifth floor". It took me an hour to get another room. No restaurant, no room service, no rooftop terrace. I moved to another hotel in the morning.
8,0 Excellent
Pros: Very clean and comfy rooms. Staff helpful and always had a smile.
Cons: Expensive roof top bar and no nibbles provided with the drinks. Traffic noise was considerable in the room.
7,3 Good
Pros: Magnific room. Really big.
Cons: Spa was closed. Double bed was made joining 2 single ones.
8,0 Excellent
Pros: We were upgraded to VIP. we had the robes and slippers. The view was beautiful and they gave us half price breakfast and free soft drinks from the mini bar
Cons: Unfortunately the room was too hot and I struggled with the temperature. And a guest had her handbag stolen during breakfast
8,0 Excellent
Pros: Staff were warm and went the extra mile
Cons: Booked for the pool but it was closed
8,8 Excellent
Pros: The lovely room The friendly helpful staff
Cons: 1 The ultra expensive spa costs, proportionate to the time allowed in the spa (1 hr). We are ardent short break spa users, but we were put off by the cost/time allowance. 2. The cost of breakfast - disproportionate to the cost of other food/meals. We had an evening meal at the hotel on one night, which was reasonably priced and good value.
9,6 Excellent
Pros: Room was clean and modern.
Cons: No full length mirror in room.

Hotel also hired electric scooters (inc helmets) for the day allowing us to buzz around the area which worked really well. The spa was nice but pricey and the massage very relaxing and the rooftop pool had air heating and a roof so usable even in January. Good breakfast and large comfortable room.
8,0 Excellent
Pros: The staff was friendly and polite.
Cons: Parking.
7,1 Good
Pros: + nice Lobby & Bar + friendly and helpful reception + fitness room ok + very nice but only for events used rooftop terrace (e.g. breakfast, restaurant,...?)
Cons: - breakfast in “cellar“ - enough space on 6th floor or lobby instead of not really used offices - horrible restaurant: ambience, food and wine - spa showers should be renovated / 30€ for 1h is by far too much - all in all could be 5* but is by far not / i would suggest to change the management
9,0 Excellent
Pros: Pool with heated water, which is great in winter. Excellent location. Very clean
Cons: The pool could have been a bit nicer. Also the swimming area and water a bit too cold for winter.
7,0 Good

Pros: Parking facilities next door ! Excellent location for tourists . Cafes and restaurants next door and across the road . On a major access road with good bus connections and abundant taxis .
Cons: The view from the room , but that is down to the design of the building and neighboring buildings .
10,0 Excellent
Pros: The location of this hotel could not have been better and there are so many restaurants and bars in easy walking distance that you are spoilt for choice. The hotel is on a busy road but our room was at the back of the hotel and although no view, which was not a concern for us because we did not go to Valencia to sit in our room and look out of the window, it was extremely quiet which was perfect. The room was modern, spacious and extremely clean. The staff were helpful and friendly and we would highly recommend this hotel.
Cons: Probably having a bar for a nightcap. There appeared to be a small one but there was never anyone in it or anyone to serve you but not a huge problem.
7,0 Good
Pros: Many restaurants within 200 meters
Cons: Fresh air in the hotelroom was difficult to get
8,8 Excellent
Pros: Nicely located, a 10 min walk from the old town and right in the middle of a restaurant district. Only a 2 min walk from the large park surrounding Valencia (forgot its name). Spacious rooms and nice breakfast.
9,2 Excellent
Pros: Just back from a lovely 5 night stay here and cannot fault it. Rooms were modern, spacious, airy and exceptionally clean. Everyday we came back to our room is was sitting like new. The breakfast was fabulous and has something for everyone. Would highly recommend this hotel. A 15 minute walk from the old town and just round the corner is Mercat de colon which I highly recommend stopping off at for an evening Aperol spritz!

10,0 Excellent
Pros: Everything was perfect.
6,0 Good
Pros: Nice hotel, clean, big rooms and good beds.
Cons: Children under 8 are not allowed in the spa pool which was unfortunate. The air conditioning was not working during our stay.
7,9 Good
Pros: Spacious and clean rooms with in-room bath and shower. Welcoming hotel check in. Parking facility at favorable price.
Cons: This was clearly a nicely designed hotel of the past. It’s now feeling old dated. As part of a conference facility still very suitable to groups. For individual travelers and couples however, breakfast room and public surroundings of the hotel are not cosy.
8,8 Excellent
Pros: Bed, bathroom, armchairs, lights, parking space
Cons: There is limited restaurants around
8,0 Excellent
Pros: Very comfortable bed, nice view, good breakfast
Cons: Very strange set up with the bathroom being right in the entrance hallway
8,0 Excellent
Pros: The hotel was perfect for what we wanted. We were joining up with family members from the UK who were flying into Valencia. The airport was within close proximity. We chose the hotel because it offers secure under cover parking which is very important to us in addition to it being close to the airport which was very convenient.
Cons: We found it necessary to change our room after the first night because it was too hot, being on the south elevation. In addition, the room was very noisy from traffic as we had to open the window for some cool air.
7,5 Good
Pros: Room ok , restaurant in the hotel ok , good jogging facilities because of the big park close to the hotel
Cons: Restaurant meals very basic , not a pleasant surrounding for a meal.

5,8 Okay
Pros: New hotel, clean and with comfortable rooms.
Cons: Staff has been really impolite. I asked to have dinner. They told me the restaurant was fully booked even though 5-6 table were not even prepared and I have checked later on 4-5 times and no one was sitting in those tables. First time in my life seeing such behaviour. I was asking the reason of such behaviour but no one was answering. Hotel is good but the worst staff ever seen in my life.
