Pros: This is a fantastic place with a great staff. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would definitely stay there again. Also the food was exceptional, some of the best we had while in France! It really says how good the place was when the restaurant in the hotel didn’t advertise and was packed at night.
8,8 Excellent
Pros: Room was spacious, clean, quiet and overlooking the garden. Service was friendly and attentive without being intrusive. Street parking was easy in front of the hotel. Beautiful terrace and garden. Lovely spot for drinks and breakfast. Did not try the restaurant. Breakfast was simple and sufficient. Cheese was excellent. Coffee was serve yourself Nespresso machine. We were there during a heat wave so the AC was appreciated and worked well.

Pros: What a beautiful place - and even better then the pictures. The staff were so lovely and let us check out late so we could use the pool all morning before heading back to Avignon for the train home. We had the room with the terrace which was well worth it. Really recommend.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: We had a suite which was a good size with sitting room large bedroom and modern bathroom. The attention to detail was perfect. The staff were very friendly and spoke good English which helped us with information on restaurants and sights to see.
Cons: I cannot find a fault.

7,1 Good
Pros: The situation and beautiful buildings. Reception staff welcoming and helpful on arrival.
Cons: Staff training not up to a hotel of this standard. In particular the dining staff were not attentive or lacked suitable training. Breakfast was totally self service despite several members of staff ‘milling around’ they seemed totally unable to help even when asked for help with defective equipment. Very poor acoustic in dining room. Tables were for two or six or more but for a party of four we had to sit round a very large table making conversation difficult. Room cleaning was superficial and not thorough. Generally for the price would expect top service and attentive staff. 3 night stay September 2019
9,2 Excellent
Cons: Automatic lighting is not perfect
7,0 Good
Pros: Stayed two nights, didn't take breakfast either morning. We had two very good dinners and found the service both friendly and accommodating. The location was perfect for visiting the vineyards and touring the surrounding villages and countryside.
Cons: The room which was located in the old castle was not in keeping with what we expected to find in a castle. It was expensive and while we could have booked a cheaper room in the surrounding buildings we pushed the boat out and took the room in the main building expecting something exceptional for the price. The bathroom turned out to be modern while the bedroom was neither old nor new, bit of both. The flooring was cheap and cheerful which did nothing for the old world charm we expected, floor boards would have been better. All in all this room in the " castle" was a big disappointment in itself and more so by the price it cost.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Everything about this venue was excellent; the rooms were beautiful, food superb, but we felt that the staff was the real gem here. Would especially like to mention Pascal, who simply couldn't do enough to make our stay perfect.
Cons: I hate even mentioning a negative with regard to this venue but the lighting in the dining room could be a little more subtle. We felt all the bright lights took from the ambiance. However, the delicious food, served so superbly, made up for it.
9,2 Excellent
Pros: Lovely restaurant for Dinner. Nice location in magnificent countryside. The SPA is excellent, one of the best we’ve experienced.
Cons: Breakfast was very disappointing with no staff to assist anyone. Our room had a problem with the shower and the water temperature for the hand basin was very difficult to operate.
9,2 Excellent
Pros: Beautifully situated in the countryside with a lovely pool and a great restaurant. The bed was amazing and the food delicious. The staff were also very helpful François was great, he even rang us to say we could have later checkout.
Cons: The room air conditioning either didn’t exist or we couldn’t get it to work so it was very hot.

Pros: Olivier and Guy were wonderful hosts, extremely friendly, welcoming and helpful. We arrived at the end of the last day of our cycling holiday. Our room was very comfortable. Hotel is in a perfect location for sightseeing, eating, drinking and shopping. The owners kept our bikes safe throughout our stay and the whole of the next day after we had booked out, so we could have a 'bike-free' walkabout in Orange, before our evening 'Bike Bus pickup'. Breakfast was fantastic, a lovely selection of drinks, jams, fresh bread and cakes. I would definitely stay there again. Thank you both for a great stay.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Loved all the boutique look of this place...the food was really good...the lavender honey was so so good that I had to buy some from the owner of the hotel...they gave us a gift for the dog too!...bed was comfortable (we stayed in their budget room as we had a small dog) but the linens and towels were beautiful and clean...

9,2 Excellent
Pros: The owners were very nice. It was a lovely setting. The food was great. It was hot outside and the air conditioner worked great.
9,6 Excellent
Pros: Lovely small hotel/restaurant in pleasant landscaped grounds, with small pool, surrounded by vineyards and fields. Great stopover if you're driving north/south on the A7. Welcoming, helpful staff. Dog-friendly. The restaurant is delightful and popular with locals and allthough there weren't any vegetarian/vegan main-course options on the menu, they did come up with something for us when we asked.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: The restaurant is fantastic. I mean toptyally brilliant cooking. More than worth a visit.
Cons: Nothing
8,8 Excellent
Pros: Staff made accommodations for my booking the wrong room type. Friendly, helpful, accommodating. Loved the ravioli from the restaurant... wow. Enjoyable swim in the pool. Breakfast was very good. Would stay again for sure.
Cons: Wifi didn't reach into my room, but as advertised it only said it was available in public areas which it was. Shower hose broke off the fixture but the bathroom itself was real nice.
8,8 Excellent
Pros: The room and surrounding gardens are lovely and peaceful. You felt very relaxed. This is our second time staying here and yet again the food was the best we have had throughout our journey in France. The staff are excellent and very attentive to your every need.
8,3 Excellent
Pros: This property was surrounded by fields of lavender yet only 6/7 minutes drive from centre of Orange. We enjoyed a delicious dinner served in the delightful garden. The starter of chilled melon soup was memorable.

2,3 Mediocre
Pros: The hotel has a reasonable good menu and the food was well prepared
Cons: When arriving the parking place is full of rubbish, giving an immediate poor impression. The room we had was a bit shabby. Painting falling of the window. Bathroom outdated. No proper shower, only a shower in the bath. Sitting outside before dinner staff was walking around but did not ask if we wanted to drink anything. Taking into account that breakfast is charged separately the rooms are overcharged.

5,8 Okay
Pros: The lady at reception was nice and efficient. There was secured parking lot. There was air conditioning.
Cons: No elevator. The bed was comfortable enough but the mattress was covered in a plastic protector, which made sleep uncomfortable due to sweating. The shower was adequate but not strong enough. There was only one shower towel per person and no hand towels.
6,7 Good
Pros: Good position, just off the motorway, quiet room comfy bed
Cons: Paris prices on drinks £7.50 for2 half’s of beer!
7,1 Good
Pros: The hotel is good placed to fast reach the autoroute and also for visiting some wineries nearby.
Cons: The bathroom is small, there are only two towells (for two persons), the walls are this so that any noise can be heard, the room itself is small.
9,6 Excellent
Pros: This hotel is located in a lovely part of France, we have stayed here a few times over the years. The Ibis hotels are all usually the same, the staff are friendly and the room was standard. This hotel has an older decor and the restaurant is run by a different person although it connects to the hotel. We ate there 2 nights, the first night was great the second night was not so good, food burnt and long wait, this hotel this week, had bus loads of people staying so it was a little busy at reception and in the restaurant at times. This effected breakfast also, by the time we had it, there was no croissants left and no apple juice either. There was other things there so you would not go hungry. They have a pool which is a bonus and it looked lovely.
Cons: There was a very strange smell on the second day, like almost gas, not enough french language to find out what that was, and there is no lift in this hotel, so if you have large cases you need to drag them up the stairs.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: 1 minute from the motorway but so quite
Hotel Saint Jean - Orange - Building

8,3 Excellent (295 reviews)
R1 511+
Overview Reviews
With a stay at Hotel Saint Jean, you'll be centrally located in Orange, just a 3-minute walk from Orange Amphitheatre and 13 minutes by foot from Triumphal Arch of Orange. The front desk is staffed during limited hours. Self parking (subject to charges) is available onsite.
8,8 Excellent
Pros: Very friendly owners and a broad selection at the breakfast buffet compared to what is a typical French petit dejeuner. The safe parking in the courtyard that is closed up at night. Relatively quiet despite having a room with a window to the street, except for the odd drunk on their way home making some noise in the middle of the night. The air conditioning worked pretty well. That we were given a room for three so we had enough space to put up a children's cot.
Cons: We had a bath tub instead of a shower in the room (which was intentional by the owners having in mind that we were travelling with a baby and that this might be easier, which is a nice gesture and is not that unusual in hotels), but there was no shower curtain and that made it really difficult to shower without getting the whole bathroom wet. A curtain rod with a shower curtain would be a great improvement and then it would be perfect.
7,9 Good
Pros: Very good central location and a pretty setting in a sort of quarry at the side of the amphitheater. Close to nice restaurants.
Cons: Bathroom a bit small.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Very near the centre, right beside the roman theatre. Good parking in a quaint courtyard. Buffet breakfast which you can have outside in the courtyard, very nice on a sunny day.
Cons: Feeling a little run-down, could do with a spruce up or even a make-over. I appreciate Orange is not a number one tourist destination but the Hotel could make more use of its quaint feel. Would return.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Lovely hotel in an historic old building directly next to the old amphitheater. Save parking inside the hotel courtyard. Nothing to complain about! Had a fantastic dinner at La Cantina just around the corner.

9,6 Excellent
Pros: We had a very pleasant stay at this little quaint hotel. The owners were extremely helpful as we had a problem with our car and they assisted us in many ways finding solutions. Breakfast was delicious!

Cons: Slight communication problem: when I checked out the staff told me I had paid, only to be contacted by them a day later saying I left without payment.

9,6 Excellent
Pros: I had to see a doctor during my stay at the hotel and the member of staff was very helpful.
Cons: Internet access very poor.
7,9 Good
Pros: Extremely clean, comfortable and spacious room. Large shower with great water pressure. Pool looked lovely, but unfortunately weather was bad when I arrived so didn't get the chance to use it. Free parking in front of the hotel. Well located to walk into historic centre.
Cons: Poor internet connection, which would not normally bother me too much but was unable to download maps I needed.
5,3 Okay
Pros: First off, the staff at this hotel were excellent. Extremely friendly and helpful, couldn't ask for better. Some reviewers have complained about the 7 euro price for breakfast, but given the prices in Provence we found it reasonable. Fresh croissants and cheeses, cereal, hard boiled eggs coffee and juice were included. Nothing exotic, but given that a coffee typically sets you back 3 euros it was reasonable and everything was fresh. The hotel is located within walking distance of the old theatre, and free parking was easy enough to find beside the hotel (a few garage spots are available at a price if reserved).
Cons: The hotel itself is older, and while some modernizing is apparent (bathrooms) it is still an older building and soundproofing isn't great. The pool and area were quite small. Make sure you ask for additional pillows before the front desk closes if you have a double room and don't want to share a single long pillow. While within walking distance of the city centre, it wasn't the most pleasant walk at night.
6,3 Good
Pros: Staff were very kindly and friendly. The only problem is that they don't have an elevator
Cons: there is not elevator
7,3 Good
Pros: The mother and daughter team were very pleasant and helpful. We would stay again because it was close to center.

2,9 Mediocre
Pros: Location ok if you have a car. Shower hot. Wifi ok.
Cons: Staff extremely rude (tut'd at us, kept sighing when we were speaking, snatched our phone of us, rolling eyes) bedroom tiny & air con did not work. Bathroom is tiny can barely move in it, shower gets water everywhere. Beds uncomfortable. Generally unclean, cockroach under the bed. Dusty & smelt bad. If you have another choice then I would definitely do that.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Nice cool air conditioning in room on arrival.
Cons: Very small bathroom but was clean and usable
6,7 Good
Pros: Good breakfast, friendly staff. Free parking available.
Cons: The receptionist didn't speak English and I’m really not a fan of the camper-style plastic bathroom.
7,1 Good
Pros: Convenient stop between Spain and France
Cons: Two single beds rather than bunk bed would have been better
4,6 Okay
Pros: Staff did their best to communicate as I spoke little French and they didn't speak English.
Cons: Expected to self check in. Exterior entrance for each room, open and free access to non residents, our rooms overlooked an office building so anyone could see and monitor our movements. No lift. Had to drag heavy suitcases up and down 2 flights of exterior stairs with no help. Rooms are dark. Need to open door for ample daylight. Bathroom very tiny and dark with no window. Barely room in the shower section. Rubbing against shower curtain during shower. No bathmats offered. Top bank too close to ceiling. No kettle, coffee or tea making facilities in the rooms. Very thin walls. Noisy in early hours. Smoking allowed anywhere. No fruit offered at breakfast.. Only 1 cereal (choc) and several wheat based baked options, orange juice and yogurt.
4,2 Okay
Cons: The room could have been cleaner. There were cigarette burns on the blankets and dirt in the bed. The sheets had not bee cleaned.

7,1 Good
Pros: Excellent value for money, easy check in, everything was relatively clean considering the showers and toilets were communal. Super power shower.
Cons: The pillows, although had clean covers, reeked of cigarettes. Rooms are supposed to be non smoking, but clearly people are smoking in the rooms. It was extremely unpleasant for both of us, as all the pillows stunk! Quite a noisy location. Despite request for downstairs room as my husband is blind, we were given a room on first floor.
8,8 Excellent
Pros: Friendly and helpful staff, the room is small but with all you need in it, window overseeing the parking lot (I parked my car just below my window), quiet and clean room. Very easy to find arriving from the highway.
9,6 Excellent
Pros: I was expecting something much worse for that money but actually, the stay was a really good experience. The room was clean, staff friendly. All good.
5,8 Okay
Pros: Close to autoroute but couldn’t hear it. Very cheap
Cons: Very tired, clean but not really. Bed really hard, smoking allowed in rooms and burn holes in bedding. But really cheap so have to not expect 3/4 star quality. Shared toilets and showers so not great.
7,1 Good
Pros: Price
Cons: No private toilets, bad smells outside the rooms (but only outside)
6,3 Good
Pros: Friendly staff, very helpful although not really supported by a poor infrastructure
Cons: Wifi hardly functioning in the rooms. I was unable to pay by card too because of connection problems that are frequent in the area according to a local

10,0 Excellent
Pros: L'herbier is located in the centre of Orange within 200 yards of the central square with restaurants, bars and shops and the wonderful Roman amphitheatre and yet the location is quiet and tranquil. The Parton is extremely friendly and welcoming and she goes out of her way to make your stay enjoyable. The rooms and public areas of the hotel are spotless and very tastefully furnished. Our room was large with comfortable beds with air conditioning and electric shutters. The petit dejeuner was excellent and served either on the terrace or in the dining room. Although the car park is some 500 yards away one is able to stop temporarily outside the hotel to drop off luggage and the Patron provides a parking permit for an underground car park for 5 Euros a day. I would thoroughly recommend a stay at L'herbier in Orange.
6,3 Good
Pros: breakfast moderate,A/C,comfortable bed
Cons: too far from the carpark,no lift, very small area for showering and washing.

5,0 Okay
Pros: The location was great. Bathrooms were nice as were the products in the bathrooms.
Cons: Bizarre policy about car-parking (had to hand-over car keys overnight). Whole check-in process was cumbersome and bureaucratic. Breakfast pretty poor; stale croque-monsieur on offer together with ubiquitous pasteries. Pool the size of a postage stamp (complete with pigeons); no pool towels available. Rooms nothing special and very dated (although beds were comfy).

Cons: not too tourist friendly

Pros: The staff was extraordinary helpful, all missing items were given immediately including a new coffee maschine. Very friendly and available to help with any need or request. The rooms have an individual style, we loved it and can higly reccomand it.
Cons: kitchen was new, but missing some essentials such as cups and glasses
10,0 Excellent
Pros: All rooms themed and decorated accordingly. Comfortable beds, desk space and equipped with air-conditioning (although not required for October visit. Excellent breakfast including option of freshly cooked bacon and scrambled egg (always a favourite for guests from UK). New day time and evening restaurant since last visit but I have to admit I didn't get to try. Location is central in Orange so only five minute walk to Forum or into the town centre. Staff very friendly, attentive and helpful throughout the visit.
Cons: Frankly nothing to dislike. Parking overnight Wed / Thurs can be problematic due to the market that takes place outside of the hotel, however arrangements can be made to utilise hotel's private parking, a facility I did not use myself.
9,2 Excellent
Pros: Friendly staff good location

Pros: Central location, easy to find. Good private parking for a modest charge, but you must reserve it in advance. Surprisingly good food -French "home cooking" with top quality ingredients. All in all, a very good place to stay!!

Pros: Location was good and close to the historic town. Price was excellent
Cons: The room was very small and shower was super small. Staff was just ok.
7,9 Good
Pros: Lovely comfy bed. Reasonable room size. Friendly staff. Great location. Very reasonably priced.
Cons: There was a bad smell in the room but once we’d opened the window it was a bit better. Barely any storage. Teeny tiny shower; not good if you’re more than 6 stones in weight! The tea and coffee facilities were sub standard (no milk, just one sachet of ‘cream’ for the coffee! So what if I want tea???).
8,3 Excellent
Pros: The hotel was comfortable, quiet , clean and good value for money in a good location.
Cons: The check in with the night time attendant man was off hand. Not very friendly.
7,0 Good
Pros: Location, big room
Cons: Misquitos, cigarette smoke smell covered up by artificial scent all over. But would stay again.

9,0 Excellent
Pros: Good location friendly staff comfortable room
8,0 Excellent
Pros: The lcation of the hotel is just outside the centre which is gret. It allows you to walk in to the centre without being right in the middle, which isn't too moisy anyway.
Cons: The parking was across the road and round the corner, along with some pastries at breakfast could have been refilled a little quicker. You had to be down at the right time.
7,9 Good
Pros: . There was free parking. The location was excellent
Cons: The wooden floor made a terrible noise.
