Pros: The grounds are stunning, the location within walking distance to CP, the staff very pleasant (especially the outdoors crew including security), the restaurant options extensive and the museum-worthy artefacts beautiful and interesting.
Cons: This hotel is well overpriced for what you get, and is rather stingy in some cases. For a “top” hotel one doesn’t expect cheap coffee sachets, UHT milk in tiny pods nor a plastic kettle. We had to beg several times for the basics of tea and coffee making, and we only drank a couple of cups per day. The bathroom consumables certainly weren’t luxurious. We ordered room service one evening and had to ask for butter with our bread. When it arrived the tiny amount was insulting. All in all, we won’t be recommending this hotel to friends or family.

Hotel was very clean and comfortable. They bring bottled water at least twice a day, which was great.
Cons: After our check out, we asked for a taxi with a meter to take us to New Delhi train station. We got on the taxi and left the hotel. Then we realized that the driver did not start the meter. We asked him to open it but driver made excuses like it is not working, we don't need it, etc. And he took 300 rupee for 10 min. drive. We were very clear on that we wanted a taxi with meter, and the taxi driver that the hotel is working with was not willing to use it. What we expect from a 5 star hotel is trust. I should be able to trust the services they provide and this includes the people they work with. What happened is something normal in Delhi but I was disappointed because the hotel I trusted assigned us to someone not trustworthy.

Cons: Disappointed that a double room consists of two twin beds. I’m 35 years old and it’s been very long time slept in a twin bed. The breakfast was a little bit disappointing if you are vegan because almost all the vegetable options had dairy in it.

Pros: This was the first time that I stayed at a Shangri-La hotel, but what an experience !! From the moment of entering the lobby till leaving (unfortunately) you feel like a king. Everyone is so friendly and nothing you ask is too much. The room was excellent, very spacious and every detail was looked after. Had a room which also gave access to the lounge on the 19th floor which has a great view over town and has exquisite service. Definitely will search for my next trip if there's no Shangri-La in town !!!

Pros: We stayed with two of your young children for 5 days and we lived it. Rooms are spacious and the staffs are very friendly and nice. In room dining was scrumptious and also room service was very quick to respond. We will be staying here again and would recommend to my friends and family.

Pros: We cannot say enough positive things about our stay at the Shangri-La in Delhi. The staff was so kind through and through. In particular the bellhop Robert was crucially helpful to us when we were working through logistics to get a lot of luggage on our airplane. He also referred us to Jassray, their Airport Manager, who helped us a great deal in getting our luggage through. Their concierge also helped us track package deliveries, even before we had checked in. Everyone on the staff was so kind and the service was first class, as well as the amenities in the hotel. We are only going to stay in Shangri-Las after this experience!

Cons: Swimming pool area is nice, but difficult to relax as very close to the main road, so not quiet. Sometimes the outside cafe and some of the bars on the ground floor were closed off for private functions. Restaurants were very expensive

Pros: We only stayed 2 nights for the purpose of visiting the Taj, but this hotel was easily accessible and Central too many of the things and attractions in New Delhi. Also had fantastic breakfast. Concierge was excellent in arranging a short notice trip to the Taj once our other options fell through , couldn't be happier with the overall experience . Need to also acknowledge Rothas Kumar as an excellent driver and tourguide to Agra. He took excellent care of us on a short notice trip.

Cons: Entrance and lobby as well as corridors make a worn out impression. The corridors even look shabby. It’s high time for a total overhaul of the public spaces. The room however was in good condition, well equipped and clean. The only window of the room gives a view on the courtyard which is full of trash and construction rubbish. A little cleanup has never hurt anyone and doesn’t cost much...

Cons: Lobby is 5 star. Rooms are 3 star - yet clean and comfortable. Dinners are quite expensive in any of their 3 restaurants and then almost 50% is added to the bills between 3 different taxes and a service charge. The breakfast buffet- included with the room was good.

Cons: There was a cup that was not clean, and the kettle for boiling water was not clean, I had black floating things in my tea, which I initially thought were tea-leaves... then I looked inside the kettle :( At the spa I had an asthma attack as the heating for the hot oil used fof the treatment filled the room with smoke. If I hax known that I would have chosen a different treatment. Perhaps more description of what the treatment entailed would have good. Also I wrote that I have athsma in the pre-treatment survey, yet it was probably not even read by the practitioner. I will also add that the service at thr spa, hoeever, was excellent. They allowed me to return to my room to take a break during the treatment to retrieve my athsma medication from my room, and treated me very well.

Cons: As this hotel rated as a kind of 5 star hotel, I expected a reasonable stay, particularly foods. However, it turned out to be wrong. I had a dinner and breakfast at the Zing, but foods are almost same, mainly Indian foods, even for breakfast. In particular, the dinner at the Zing was too much over priced. Buffet dinner consisting of very similar Indian foods (around 15 foods), no drink, no coffee costed 2000 Rps including two taxes (18%) and water melon juice costing 500 Rps including two taxes (18%) costed over 2500 Rps. I spent only 30 min for this luxuriosly over priced dinner. For breakfast, I expected something like contidental one, but I was wrong again. They served mainly Indian foods and very limited continental one. The breads and croissant are very poor quality, very hard or very unusual texture. They should improve a lot to keep attracting people. My recommendation is that they introduce more varieties of foods (particularly international one) and make each meal different & unique in the Zing. The breads and croissant should be significantly improved. Fruits served are very low qualilty, so prepare high-standard quality and taste to keep 5 star rating. Staffs are very friendly, but need to be educated for 5 star hotel. As this hotel is a bit away from attractions, some indoor activities should be introduced for young and family tourists. Good luck for further improvement.

The hotel allowed me to store one of my bags for the three months that I was there free of charge. This was a huge plus for me. The location was also great for me. Since I found myself back in Delhi to regroup, switch luggage around and connect for trains and planes it was super easy to get to and from the train - walking distance, and the hotel could arrange taxis to the airport. It’s a noisy part of Delhi, but the rooms were well insulated from the noise. I also really liked that the hotel had 24 hr security as it’s a but crazy down by the train station. The hotel also has a tour operator That can help you arrange any sight seeing options if that is what you wish. I really liked the staff there. They were polite, friendly and helpful. I felt like it was my home away from home for the 3 months I was in India. The rooms were clean, the shower was nice - there was hot water. It’s a great place!

Cons: I am a global traveler and spend a good amount of time in hotels. This got to be one of the worst Hotels I have seen anywhere across the globe. Five Star rating for this Hotel is a joke. To name a few terrible experiences at this place:
1) I was put up on the 5th floor. As soon as you step out of elevator you get a pungent and nauseating smell due to ongoing construction/painting activity. I am surprised that they put guests on this floor.
2) Shoddy and cheap rooms. I am sorry to say this but the fact is you do not see quality anywhere. There were stains on sheets. Blankets were terrible and I was afraid to even touch them.
3) Unprofessional staff both at main entrance and front desk checkin. At main front entrance, unprofessional staff swarm you every time you step in or out of building and I have noticed staff arguing among themselves in front of guests.
4) Lack of Rest Rooms (Bath Rooms) in common areas. There is only one small rest room in main reception checkin and restaurant area.
Bottom line avoid this Hotel at all costs.

Pros: Breakfast is ok. It's Indian Food, quiet good. But also toast, eggs and porridge possible. Excellent Massala Chai! Straight in den center wehere live is going on, loud an crowded. 10 minutes walk to/from the train station. Rooms are very clean, hot shower good.
Cons: Room in first Floor are a bit moldy and stuffy. Ask for upper Floor Rooms.

Pros: We book a tour here, I have to thank Dinesh for all information and disponibility. But if you want the best driver, you should book your tour with Saurabh! It was our most beautiful surprise in India. We spend some days traveling with him, and after I travel so many years, I never found so much professional, kind and friendly person.

Pros: Lovely friendly staff. Reception staff always polite and helpful. There are always plenty of staff on hand to run and help with your bag, or the lift or whatever is needed. We lost our key to the suitcase lock and the staff immediately helped us to open our bag which was very much appreciated otherwise we don't know what we would have done!

Pros: We had a pleasant stay at Smyle Inn. The location is good; near the main bazaar, New Delhi Trainstation and metrostation RK Ashram. The room was very basic, but fine. It was nice that there was a small breakfast included, which we enjoyed every morning on the rooftop. Staff was friendly.

Pros: Good value for money. Location was good by the train station.
Cons: It was a set breakfast and when I asked if there was anything I could eat (no dairy) we found that he gave us an already prepared tray which included a sandwich with dairy and some other items with milk. I hoped that I could have had some fruit or plain toast. Blankets that we were given in room smelt weird and were rough, so we slept in our sleeping bags.

Pros: Unless you book a suite the rooms at the Royal Plaza are super small and very uncomfortable. However, they do have a very nice breakfast buffet with a variety of foods. Wifi is not free and can be purchased in increments of two hours to 24 hours. However, once purchased, we experienced a consistent spotty wifi connection that was super slow. It was extremely annoying because we had travelled to India from the United States and needed wifi badly to do a few things on our smart phones that took super long to get done because the wifi is just too slow and spotty. When we asked about the slow wifi we were told that we could use the computers in the business center. We went there, of course had to pay them in rupees despite already paid for wifi and found that computers were preset to India. Everything was in rupees and all the web pages defaulted to the India version. So that didn't work out. Additionally, our room key stopped working eight times during our one week stay there. It was so annoying to have to go all the way back to the lobby to get it re-coded. The staff there are like zombies. No one smiles, they all seem annoyed and frustrated and have this slight arrogance about themselves. It's like ugh.
