Design of the rooms, friendly staff, beautiful building! Nice jelly beans! Amazing shower.
Location is excellent. Rooms are beautiful (very 'Old Montreal'), well maintained, and clean. Reception, housekeeping staff, and valets were all lovely - very friendly and helpful. Bed was comfortable and room was well-equipped.
Only one issue arose during our stay, in Verses restaurant off the main lobby. We went for breakfast. They refused to cook our eggs medium (which sounds ridiculous, I know, but it was explained very abruptly that the kitchen staff do not 'take orders for how to cook the food, they cook it their way'). Rude and annoying, but fine. Placed our orders, only for the server to return and explain that the kitchen could not offer the ham with our breakfast because they 'were running out and had to save some for other tables later in the morning'. Too many GREAT restaurants in this area to deal with this, so we left and went to Bocata down the street for a really excellent breakfast. I am unsure if the Verses restaurant is run independently of the Hotel Nelligan, but it is part of the hotel and therefore contributes to the overall guest experience. They need to tighten up operations there and focus on guest experience rather than the whims of a testy kitchen staff! Otherwise, a great stay. We would stay again - if we were sure that the in-house restaurant could offer better service!
The room was super spacious and the bed was one of the most confortable ones that I've slept in. The hotel is right on a street where you can find many restaurants and bars, all very good. it was a perfect stay for our night in town. Staff very friendly.
Rooms very comfortable
Comfortable beds, luxury shower
Sound isolation between the rooms was not great.
Dating to the 1850s, the Hotel Nelligan is a boutique property on the Rue Saint Paul in one of Montreal’s oldest neighborhoods. With views of the Old Port and the Saint Lawrence River and easy access to the Rue de la Commune, the charming hotel is a fantastic find. Placing guests within walking distance of most of the city’s historic sites, it is less than half of a mile from Place d'Armes Metro Station, ensuring travelers can head anywhere they want easily and quickly.
However, the Place des Arts, Eaton Centre Montreal, Notre Dame Basilica Montreal, Montreal Science Centre – Imax, Montreal Courthouse, Place Jacques Cartier and Saint Laurent River are within a mile from the front door. The Montreal-Pierre Elliott Trudeau International Airport is also just ten miles away, making it ideal for the business as well as the leisure traveler.
The history of the hotel resonates from the dark wood and brass finishes throughout and the rooms offer their original stone walls. The hotel is noted for its world-class amenities that include two gourmet restaurants (Verses and Mechant Boeuf), a gorgeous atrium and outdoor sun terrace, a modern fitness center with massage facilities, a business service center, parking (for a fee), concierge desk, currency exchange, car hire services, laundry and dry cleaning, and its remarkable Terrasse Nelligan rooftop lounge.
The 105 rooms and suites are a good match to the rest of the premises, and all feature their original stone or brickwork walls. They are all furnished with king beds and premium linens, marble baths with signature toiletries, minibars, work desks, Wi-Fi and entertainment systems.
If you want an excellent location and world-class amenities and services while visiting Montreal, the Hotel Nelligan is for you.
