The hotel location is very good even homless people sleep infront of the hotel.
The room we stayed in (701) for three days was large and spacious, with a nice compact bathroom with a small tub. Everything was clean and the bed is comfortable. Our bedroom had an extra bed that we didn't use. Staff were very helpful and some even spoke Brazilian Portuguese! We had some problems with neighbors staying on room 702 doing a lot of noise at 1am, but calling reception solved the issue. Breakfast seemed just pretty good at first, but after later stays at other hotels in Uruguay I realised it was the best I had had in Uruguay. It is a buffet with medialunas, dulce de leche, pastries, fruit salad, juices and yogurt... It's pretty complete. The location is also really good, being close to Plaza Cagancha, which is a nice square not far from the old city gate.
The juice in the breakfast was not freshly squeezed and as such didn't taste as good. The bed, despite being announced as double, was actually two single beds put together. They fit together pretty decently though, and this was not an issue. Coffee lovers: the coffee is really low quality, they're even worse than traditional Brazilian supermarket coffee, with a burnt smell. Consider though that this was true for all places I stayed in Uruguay, even 4 star hotels. There's the option to pay for a good quality espresso, but that'll cost you three dollars (yes, dollars).
