Pros: The hotel exceed our expectations. It's located in the center of the city and has wonderful interiors. The lobby sweeps you off your feet. The room was very comfortable and with nice Roman decor, even in the bathroom zone. The room service was very efficient and the staff always ready to help you with a smile. The pool on the rooftop provided a nice chillout moment and helped to deal with the summer heat after a daylong sightseeing. Breakfast buffet was very rich, included a gluten free option and a serie of hot food like eggs that you can ask for whenever you want. Overall it was a great pleasure to stay in this hotel.

Cons: I booked for the family of 4 adult and a child 12 years. At check In they refuse to accept the child in one of the rooms unless I upgrade to a suite!!! Claiming the room is small to fit additional bed which is totally not true !! I was forced to upgrade and pay additional 80 Euro. Also at the check out I waited for almost an hour to get my car from Vallet parking although they promised to have it within a maximum of 30 minutes. The vallet parking is NOT free. I paid 22 Euro. Given their late in bringing the car they should at least waive the valet charge!!

Plenty of staff on duty, plenty of 'show' but the food was average whereas one might expect its quality and inventiveness to be of a higher standard.

Cons: The parking is expensive and poorly organised, none disability vehicles parked in the disabled bay. Then when an alternative space was located underground a vehicle was blocking the access to the underground parking making it difficult to enter the parking spaces. We ordered tea from room service which arrived without milk and it then took a further 30 minutes to arrive by which time the tea was cold. In the second room we had the bath was stained and unsightly.

Cons: We went to Mérida with the idea to visit other nearby cities, but the transportation from one city to the other was either difficult or virtually non existent. Tours in the cities are very limited and it's incredible because of the amount of history that the area of Extremadura has. Anyway we visited all the historical sites in Mérida, walking around. In Cáceres we took a "toc-toc", little car which offers a short tour around the city and in Badajoz we had to hire a taxi to take us around, though in the morning there is a bus which gives a free tour. The train schedule does not allow you to visit more than one city per day.

The location was far from the city centre if you arent accustomed to walking 20min. It wasn't a problem for us. A taxi costs about 7 euros which is reasonable to escape the 40 degree heat. It was a bit too expensive for a normal weekend. I am not sure if the hotel offers any discounts for people going to the theatre. The pool was nice and cool. Lots of seating and you get the towels by the pool so no need to get them from the front desk and then go down. The staff were nice and friendly. Samuel checked us in and gave us loads of information about where to eat and how to get there from the hotel. He was happy to explain everything and he took his time to explain well. Thanks!

Pros: Dear Sir/Madam, I’m the person who checked in Tryp Merida Medea at PM 1:00 on July 27th, 2019. Nice hotel, nice room and kind reception person in Tryp Merida. Merida is a nice city and we had a very good time to tour in the old city yesterday. My room number is 131, name XU XIAOWEI, from China, tour in Spain for about 10 days with my family. But, very bad thing happened in this morning when we went to have breakfast. At 9:00 AM, when we got to Level 0, where the breakfast place located, the waitress said to us it’s not the right place we should take breakfast. She introduced my family to downstairs, Level -1. A simple, cold room, located at Level -1. Some Chinese people are having breakfast there. Then, I noticed that the waitress should mean that Chinese people couldn’t have breakfast at Level 0, and gather together at Level -1. Please see the pic IMG-03. The waitress at Level -1 arranged us to eat at the table that not cleaned. Please see the pic IMG-01. I think it’s not the right way to serve customers. The fruits are all bad, like what the Carrefour thrown away everyday. Please see the pic IMG-02. And with not good words for Chinese people. So, whole of the breakfast time, I ate nothing, only a cup of tea with a cold egg. My wife and daughter both only have some cold bread. The bad feeling of breakfast erased my good feeling to Merida and Tryp. I think it’s a very bad way to treat to Chinese people. So, when I checked out at 10:00 am in this morning, I asked the reception people where we should have breakfast. He checked and told me I should have breakfast at Level 0. Pros: The breakfast really was great. There were lots of different things to choose from, even six or seven types of juice. The location was far from the city centre if you arent accustomed to walking 20min. It wasn't a problem for us. A taxi costs about 7 euros which is reasonable to escape the 40 degree heat. It was a bit too expensive for a normal weekend. I am not sure if the hotel offers any discounts for people going to the theatre. The pool was nice and cool. Lots of seating and you get the towels by the pool so no need to get them from the front desk and then go down. The staff were nice and friendly. Samuel checked us in and gave us loads of information about where to eat and how to get there from the hotel. He was happy to explain everything and he took his time to explain well. Thanks!
Cons: The toilet was really hard to flush. You have to push a button on the wall and it is difficult. Have a laugh at this and if you stay there and if it happens to you, comment. No fridge in the room which would be ideal for having cold water ready for excursions. Wed isn't get one bed but two beds pushed together, which is fair because they told us that one single bed wasn't available after we booked. However, the beds come apart really easily leaving you with that annoying hole between beds. So in the end, you share a twin bed.

Merida is a nice city and we had a very good time to tour in the old city yesterday. My room number is 131, name XU XIAOWEI, from China, tour in Spain for about 10 days with my family. But, very bad thing happened in this morning when we went to have breakfast. At 9:00 AM, when we got to Level 0, where the breakfast place located, the waitress said to us it’s not the right place we should take breakfast. She introduced my family to downstairs, Level -1. A simple, cold room, located at Level -1. Some Chinese people are having breakfast there. Then, I noticed that the waitress should mean that Chinese people couldn’t have breakfast at Level 0, and gather together at Level -1. Please see the pic IMG-03. The waitress at Level -1 arranged us to eat at the table that not cleaned. Please see the pic IMG-01. I think it’s not the right way to serve customers. The fruits are all bad, like what the Carrefour thrown away everyday. Please see the pic IMG-02. And with not good words for Chinese people. So, whole of the breakfast time, I ate nothing, only a cup of tea with a cold egg. My wife and daughter both only have some cold bread. The bad feeling of breakfast erased my good feeling to Merida and Tryp. I think it’s a very bad way to treat to Chinese people. So, when I checked out at 10:00 am in this morning, I asked the reception people where we should have breakfast. He checked and told me I should have breakfast at Level 0. Pool only opens at 11:00a.m. (???), so that swimming before or even after breakfast is not possible... the list could go on... people were friendly though.

This was not made clear when we booked leaving us no choice after our arrival as it was too late to change accommodation and far too cold to leave the dogs in the vehicle safely. Also the closest free parking was 10 mins walk away. This is outrageous to us because there is no way our dogs cost 30 euros in additional cleaning. We would have stayed and paid for breakfast had we not been given this additional charge.

Pros: A bed to sleep in, nothing else to add.
Cons: Not clean and well maintained, a bit of paint and cleaning goes a long way. Not 4 stars hotel, smells bad, hidden charges were applied at checkout without any information. Staff refused go give their names or call management. Fran and Santos were the staff i talked to. We chose it for an affordable night stay and ended up expensive. Bed and pillows were old and uncomfortable.

Pros: Despite proximity to a major road, the room was very quiet. Breakfast featured a small but perfectly adequate selection of savoury and sweet choices. Reasonably easy walk of about 10 minutes up to the amphitheatre and then a further 5 minutes or so on into town. I initially thought that there was very little in the way of restaurants nearby, but then discovered that if you turn right out of the hotel and go past a parade of shops, a little side street has quite a number that appear to be frequented by the locals (as opposed to the more touristy establishments in town) where I ate very well at very reasonable prices.

The staff were very helpful and there is a lounge off the main entry to just sit and relax after checking out. I was so happy to see a razor in the complimentary bathroom goodies. The hot water came quickly and the shower and little bathtub were great. Though it’s on a Main Street it was very quiet.

Cons: The room was quite small, same with the bathroom. Bed could have been more comfortable as well. This was fine for one person, but with more than 1 the room would have been very cramped.
