9,6 Excellent
Pros: Rooms are very large: more a suite. Wonderful onsen: wooden stools and bowls, no plastic here. Wonderful indoor and outdoor pools. Very helpful pleasant staff. Footbath in garden is gorgeous. On main tram routes and next to the Dogo Onsen so easy to get around town. Luxurious, sparkling clean and comfortable.
Cons: I do not like having to say the night before when I shall want breakfast (or, come to that, what I shall want): makes me feel part of a tour rather than an independent traveller. A very minor niggle. I think they have a fair number of groups so perhaps set up to cater for them. Friend in Western-style room said it could do with sprucing up a bit and was not as shiny as our Japanese style room.
9,2 Excellent
Pros: Funaya is in close proximity of Dogo Onsen. It has a nice garden accessible from the hotel and through the exit gate one can go to Dogo Park. The twin room with tatami area was very spacious and a simply furnished balcony.
Cons: It was a little expensive.

Cons: Can’t think of a thing!
9,2 Excellent
Pros: Super clean and large rooms. Warm & welcoming staff. The onsen was really nice & clean. The garden is an oasis of tranquility. It was nice that we had a balcony and could open the windows. The location was right in Dogo Onsen and it was nice that one could walk around in the Yukata in the town and visit other onsen. The breakfast was really nice.
Cons: It was a bit expensive. One could expect that dinner would be included in the price.

Pros: The staff were very pleasant and helpful. The location and local amenities were very good
Cons: There was nothing I didn’t like.
9,0 Excellent
Pros: This was our luxury stay from budget hostels and capsule hotels and it did not dissapoint. The moment you walk in you feel like you're in a luxourius paradise. The entrance is so pretty and staff were very friendly. They provided us with a abundance of information about using the Dogo Onsen next door (litteraly located right across the small street and it is tattoo friendly) The whole building smelt wonderuful with heaps of fresh flowers all over the place. There is a shopping strip nearby and lovely little restuarants. You had the option to collect a larger Yukata from reception. We utulized the option to have our traditional breakfast and that was an interesting experience. While it wasn't too my taste of a breakfast meal (I'm sorry, it's because I've grown up with bread and cereal) it was really great to try this new experience!!
Cons: We had some trouble finding a point for us to charge our phones. Some power points or USB ports near the bed would be good. I wasn't sure how to wear the Yukatah and I could have used a "How to wear a Yukata for dummies" (or I could not be lazy and google it)
10,0 Excellent

Cons: Staff were so so. rooms small as you expect.

Pros: Great location, good parking and great breakfast. We were in the annex which seemed to be a fascinating conversion of a parking building. However it was perfectly comfortable with excellent facilities
3,8 Mediocre
Pros: Nothing
7,9 Good
Pros: Breakfast buffet was ok though entirely Japanese.
Cons: Rooms (we used two on different dates) were VERY 'compact'. We had three suitcases and had to step over them to go to toilet. There was in the smaller room, a rather useful washing machine on top of the fridge, though there wasn't one in the slightly larger room. Location was good but we had a terrible time finding it because nowhere on outside did it say "Hotel Sambancho" - the name on the discrete entrance was "Check-in"

Pros: Far from the city centre, but has a shuttle service. The Onsen is the best we have yet seen in Japan. The buffet has a wide range of delicacies.
Cons: Regular rooms are very much run down, take seriously the 2 stars. Extremely overpriced, both the rooms & food. Pictures do not represent the reality (except for the onsen) at all!!!

Pros: Convenient location, very close to jr station
Cons: The room is small and hotel is old fashioned
3,0 Mediocre
Pros: Only the position
Cons: Can’t even stand in the shower
6,0 Good
Pros: Hotel Kajihara is a clean, value hotel across from Matsuyama Station and located on the tram line. It is walking distance to retail stores and an excellent grocery store. Matsuyama is safe, clean, and quiet.
Cons: My room could have been slightly larger. The common walls are thin - which could be an issue if the people in adjoining rooms were noisy.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Very helpful staff and very near to the JR station
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Impeccable service, clean white sheets and signature white soft towels (I suspect made in the famed towel city of Imabari), daily housekeeping, complete breakfast meal, basic amenities one might need and just a stone's throw away from the JR Matsuyama train as well as the tram station is why I love Japanese business hotels. Definitely value for money for all these conveniences and the privacy it affords. Absolutely perfect for my needs!
Cons: Nothing.

With a stay at Hotel Sungarden Matsuyama in Matsuyama, you'll be within a 10-minute drive of Dogo Onsen and Matsuyama Castle. Featured amenities include dry cleaning/laundry services, luggage storage, and laundry facilities. Self parking (subject to charges) is available onsite.
7,5 Good
Pros: Good location and cheap hotel
Cons: Basic and small room
8,0 Excellent
Pros: The hotel was pretty close to one of the street car stations, which made it comforatble to reach. Because the ropeway that goes up the the castle was in walking distance to the hotel, that was the first place I walked to. Even though the hotel is located at a somewhat busy street, I did not hear much of the noise.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Perfect for backpackers who want to occasionally stay alone. Friendly staff, free laundry and bike, microwave available at the floor I stayed. All worth to the money!
7,0 Good
Pros: If you're familiar with the tram routes, it's pretty easy to get from JR Matsuyama Station to the hotel via tram, and it's cheap to travel to the various attractions in the city (the various shopping districts, the onsens etc). The room was a bit small, but comfortable, and was quite clean too.
Cons: I wanted to have breakfast on the day I was due to check out, so I work up early to head to the hotel restaurant, but it was closed for some reason... In addition, the lamp by the bed stopped working while I was out - it was fine when I checked in, but when I got back after a full day's worth of exploring (during which I gave the staff permission to tidy my room), it just wouldn't turn on.
9,0 Excellent
Pros: I had a great stay in this hotel. Sure the room was very small but it was clean and with a comfy bed. You can rent a bike for free and anytime, which is so convenient in Matsuyama! Also enjoyed washing my clothes for free too. I think the location is pretty convenient, with the bike you can go anywhere, close to Okaido and Dogo Onsen.
Cons: I wish they would offer breakfast, even a small selection, as there isn't anything nearby for a proper breakfast.

9,0 Excellent
Pros: Very clean and comfortable room. Situated very close to the castle. Good value for money.
7,1 Good
Pros: Close to the castle park. A little far away from the malls and restaurants.
Cons: Definitely not a hotel that I would recommend for people who speak only English. We had some difficulties to communicate with the Reception staff. Their English was really limited.
8,0 Excellent
Cons: It is a little far from the center
7,0 Good
Pros: Simple barebones hotel that was relatively cheap.
Cons: A little out of the way location wise. Bathroom had a slightly strange odor. No AC - but we opened the windows because it was nice
9,2 Excellent
Pros: They upgraded our rooms to deluxe from standard upon arrival, thanks. The view of the mountain and water in front is great.
9,0 Excellent
Pros: It's a good business hotel to stay in, the included-breakfast was great. Very nice piped-in classical music. The location is just a little bit far from the Station and from food, but it is still manageable walking distance.
Cons: Only one single thing - the Reception/Lobby lounge set was worn down/tatty especially the arm-rests parts were peeling off.

Pros: The bed was comfortable. The view was amazing. We had a 10th floor room facing the castle. Actual a/c in the room.
Cons: The bathroom was a bit dated, and the room was kinda small. We only got one voucher for breakfast when we stayed 2 nights. The A/c heater did not have english instructions. Also you couldn't set it to just cool or just heat.
