Everything was perfect
I expected The reception to have more info about the area and the activities
Outstanding experience! It was our first time taking vacations on Crete and our only expectation was to rest. Thanks to Cretan Malia Park hotel our 12 days were fabulous. Starting with the worm welcome, everything what followed was perfect. The service, the stuff all over the place, the room and room service, the additional activities offered by the hotel, like cooking lessons, vine testing, Cretan dinner,... Very special and outstanding heartfull feeling creates Cretan Restaurant Mouries, the place itself, the perfect Cretan food mainly prepared by hotel main chef and kind and perfect cooking staff, and even more the young and sincere restaurant manager. Knowing and feeling the guests wishes and desires. Outstanding experience!! We would like to kindly congratulate the Management of the hotel to be present practically all over the day on all places. It was our first time that hotel General Manager and the hotel Management serve to hotel guests’ dinner, to show us their respect. Really perfect and worm feeling, that on every step somebody is taking care for you. We would like to highly recommend the hotel and for sure we will do that again. We had a perfect vacations. Thank you!
Of course we tried also a new Italian restaurant. It tries to be fancier with ambitious manager, but except the location and food itself, the impression that the restaurant leaves is rather poor. We try three times, firstly also to celebrate daughter birthday, but we never catch the staff on right leg. Last dinner we finished beside the fish refrigerator, no matter if other better tables were free all the evening. So our suggestion to the young manager would be to learn from the Mauries place. At such a beautiful place it is really not a question to have food to survive, we, as a hotel guests, want to experience a nice dinner time close to the beach, without unsuccessful fight for a better table in the restaurant… But, newer the less, we build up the impression taking the last desert at the Mauries, outstanding and heartfull and unforgettable again.
The hotel had a great atmosphere - very relaxed. We liked the décor. The swimming pools were lovely and so was the beach. The food was very good. Our children loved the ice-creams and crepes at The Crush. we really enjoyed having a cocktail at the Beach Shack. My massage at the Spa was wonderful.
We were on an all-inclusive plan which meant that, although most food and drink items were included, some were only available at an additional cost. This made it a bit complicated. The evening entertainment was a bit dull.
The hotel is very nice with a nice lobby and good communal areas. The rooms are of a good size, clean and include all the amenities you would expect. Staff were fantastic, very friendly and welcoming and to a tee were very accommodating. The buffet food for breakfast and dinner was fantastic with a large selection of different foods. The Cretan restaurant is also worth visiting at least once to try local cuisine. Definitely download the app upon arrival, a nice feature is that the beach beds are each numbered and you can order drinks via the app to be delivered to your spot. All dinner reservations at each restaurant can be made via the app. The beach is very nice and there is plenty of room so it never felt like a huge rush to get a sun bed each day. The sea is very clean here, water is very clear with only minimal seaweed. The layout of the hotel is fantastic and even though they were fully booked it never feels crowded.
It is a little isolated which could be an issue depending on what you are looking for, but it is only a 20 minute walk to Malia. The all inclusive rules are a little strange... I expect for example that only certain drinks are included and not every type of lager spirit etc, this is normal in most places, however what is strange at this hotel is that this is not consistent throughout each bar or restaurant, e.g drinks that are free in the main lobby are different to those that are free at the beach bar. Also some of the food is not included either. e.g at the Italian restaurant it’s reasonable to expect to pay a supplement for steak etc but to get snacks from the beach bar in my opinion is not expected. It’s worth pointing this out as it is just confusing sometimes and a little unnecessary it should at least be consistent bar to bar. Whilst the food generally was great I was very disappointed with the Italian restaurant, I ordered the meatballs which were raw in the middle and had to be sent back. (In fairness without any fuss or issue) the BBQ near the main building again meat not properly cooked on the kebabs and were raw in the middle. Just be careful and check the food that has come from the grill, I am aware that mistakes happen especially when cooking at scale in a hotel or restaurant but raw meat is never a good thing, these were two isolated incidents though and I want to be clear that In general the food was very good.
We have had a very nice holiday and would definitely recommend it to our friends and family. Our room was spacious (we stayed in a bungalow with the garden view), I really liked that the room was cleaned every day, every day new towels and toiletries. Animation team and staff were very lovely and friendly and helpful. The buffet had plenty of variety for every taste and the food was good and everyday fresh juice is being squeezed- is a nice touch. There are also enough other options for lunch and dinner on the premises - the greek restaurant is very nice, although portions are very big! The beach shack is a lovely place with tasty food as well. I love the fact that the hotel is green and eco-friendly - like using bio straws and not washing bed linnen everyday to conserve water. The beach is well maintained with sunbeds available for hotel guests. All in all very pleasent experience! Thank you!
As for a few cons: - Charge for water at the buffet - we paid a substantial amount of money for our stay and it would have been nice for water to be included in the price. - I would love an iron to have in the room - The lunch price at the buffet is the same as dinner price - which is quite strange. - the prices for alcohol (buffet especially) are very high! One glass of wine at the buffet is 8€ , one small bottle of wine is 12€ - thats in my opinion a bit much
The Cretan Malia Park is a distinguished hotel situated in a peaceful location on the north coast of Crete. The activities and nightlife in Malia as well as the archeological site with the famous Minoan Palace are in walking distance. One of the unique characteristics of this hotel is its river pool-complete with an artificial beach meandering amongst the garden bungalows. Mature palm trees, laws and colorful gardens adjoin a sandy beach, surround the main building and bungalows. The Cretan Malia Park has plenty to offer for families, couples, or single travelers and its central location on the island makes it an ideal starting point for those wishing to explore the island. From the moment you encounter the 35 palm trees that frame the entrance to Cretan Malia Park, you know that youve entered one of the romantic hideaways in Greece. The style is refined, the pace casual: Wrap yourself in cool cottons and the finest linens, lose yourself in the award-winning gardens, and enjoy the exceptional cuisine. Discreet service, luxurious accommodation, two placid private beaches, and spectacular scenery conspire to create an unforgettable holiday.
