In unrestful times like this it was quite important for us to get the money back for the hotel that we weren’t even able to visit. Spain declared a state of emergency and Madrid was the most affected area, so being in a high risk group (we are both already retired), we made a decision not to come. This hotel didn’t try to compromise at all: not only didn’t they give us any money back, but they also haven’t offered us to rebook a room for later. Being guests in this hotel for years in a row (before it was called Lope De Vega), and seeing how other companies are treating their clients with care in current circumstances, we expected this hotel to be more flexible. Please think twice before choosing this place. As of our next visit to Madrid we will also choose a different place.
I liked the location
I did't like not to have the confort that I requested on my booking (quiet room) plus, that there was no shuttle bus from/to the airport, as it was specified in the booking page, and was one of my main reasons for booking this hotel. Also, the bed was incredibly uncomfortable.
Breakfast was fantastic! We loved our suite.
Hotel was clean, great location, comfortable bad. Ok breakfast, nothing special, but fair selection.
The room had very basic facilities (I had queen room). No complimentary water, no tea/coffee making facilities. Ragarding the bathroom, it only had bar of soap and 2 in 1 shampoo/shower gel. I would call this very basic when it comes to 4 star hotels. plus the photo of the bathroom with set of toiletries completely misleading. As everyone else said, walls are thin and there are loads of noise from other rooms. Staff don’t follow their own ‘I want to reuse my towels’ policy, I always make sure to put them on the racks, however every single one was replaced to new after just one use - quite a pitty.
The location was very convenient and the staff was also very nice. It is very close to museums which was wonderful.
More parking! Breakfast also could be better, especially regarding coffee (no real decaf options). With a Starbucks around the corner, with delicious egg sandwiches and decaf lattes, we ended up eating breakfast there.
