Nice old house, charming
Room was quite small for a family room
Very rude staff at reception, staff at bar and restaurant was nice
The room and bathroom were clean and nice
There wasn’t WiFi or signal in the room
The decor, bed was comfortable, it was well located.
One of the lights was broken so to have all the lights off we had to take out the keycard to sleep. Staff didn’t seem bothered when we told them. So this was quite annoying when wanting to lie in bed and watch tv before bed.
The location of our hotel due to the event we were attending in streatham common was super easy to get to in an Uber.
So myself and 2 friends stayed at this hotel during the last weekend of July. When we arrived I asked if we had been given a room on one of the floors above reception as I had been communicating with the hotel prior to arriving and requested for this. We had been given a room higher up but it did not meet our expectations luckily we had been told we could move rooms the next morning. After travelling all day and being delayed all we wanted to do was shower and sleep but much to our surprise we were supplied with a room with a faulty shower and lights. The room itself didn’t look nothing at all like the photos we had been given when we were booking our stay. The lights gave my one friend a rude awakening on the Saturday morning when they began to leak with liquid down on-top of her as she slept. I went down to reception and requested to swap rooms, kindly they offered me to go and look at another room which I did , it wasn’t half as spacious compared to the first room or above reception but we were happy to be somewhere where the shower and lights worked sufficiently. The rest of our stay was somewhat pleasant until another rude awakening took place on the day of our departure , around 8.50am bare in mind this doesn’t seem so early we had around 4-5 hours travelling to do on a hot day. We were woken by extremely loud banging at the door, I understand confidentially has to be breached when it comes to emergencies but the coincidence that my name was somewhat similar to the name the service was looking for at the moment in time was a horrible way to be woken. I can confirm all we were given by the hotel was apologies although they have told booking.com we were offered breakfast which we turned down, although no breakfast was offered. I will not be returning due to the simple fact that the hotel have lied against my name.
Built in 1854 to coincide with the reopening of the Crystal Palace exhibition venue, Best Western London Queens Crystal Palace Hotel is a striking Victorian building in one of the most picturesque parts of south London. A stay here puts you in good company – French writer Emile Zola resided here for many months in the 1890s during his time in exile, while German emperor Kaiser Wilhelm II used the hotel as a base for his visits to Queen Victoria. Our updated rooms all come with contemporary décor, air conditioning, flat-screen TV and hairdryer. We also have an onsite car park, conferencing facilities, Italian restaurant and spacious ground floor lounge bar with satellite TV. Selhurst Park football ground is only a five-minute drive away, while Crystal Palace Park is just two minutes by car. If you’re looking to do a spot of sightseeing while you’re here, you’ll find the major attractions of central London around 8 miles from the hotel.
