Pros: Lovely place.

Cons: Our room was on the second floor, bedroom also stairs up the living room.... we had 2 elderly with difficulties to climb so many stairs. Also as it's so big, for them to walk on the cold and rain was an issue.

Cons: Breakfast is nothing special, staff is not attentive and arrogant, room 127 is a nightmare with badly finish wooden ceiling (like if it’s under construction), old carpet, many spikes in the wall which can easily damage you, lack of windows and terrible access (via two decks of stairs)

Pros: The suite is amazing, it has everything you can dream of. The spa is clean, pleasant and beautiful

Cons: First of all the price of breakfast (€28 per person per night) is extremely high. Also it was impossible to find any information about it beforehand. Even at the reception we were invited for breakfast but never informed of the price. Secondly the swimming pool area was unbearable for adults seeking relaxation. It was full of yelling children and nobody from hotel/pool area staff paid them any attention whatsoever. It was also overall not clean enough. Lastly the bathrooms are in desperate need of renovation. They are really dated and not in a good way

Christmas decor with lights and soft christmas music playing in the background added to the charm of the cosy reception area. Very good breakfast. We really enjoyed our stay there. Pros: Really lovely welcome from Bianca and Martin, with helpful tips on where to eat, where to have a drink, and where to take a beautiful walk in the countryside. The beds were comfortable and the room was spacious and quiet. Breakfast was tasty and there was plenty of it! We visited over Easter so had their delicious Easter Bread for breakfast. Would definitely stay here again.

Pros: Location couldn’t be better, 100 yards to the heart of the town. Friendly staff. Not a breakfast person but did have b/f one day and there was a large selection of fresh food (breads, cereals, fruit, meats, juices, tea & coffee etc). Bathroom was huge, water heated up very quickly. Room was a really nice size, beds very comfy, linens very clean. The whole hotel was very clean.

Cons: One slight negative: asked for a taxi to be booked to take us to the station but was directed to the taxi rank in the square instead. It was early (9am) so there were no taxis but, luckily, a local shop owner phoned to order one for us.

Pros: Lovely family run hotel in a fantastic location. Central to everything. The hotel is immaculate and the breakfast was good. Would definitely stay here again.

Cons: We had a medical emergency with our dog and had to leave a day early. Although we left very close to normal checkout time, and expected to pay something, we were required to pay the full amount. This is, mind you, on a very busy weekend when I am confidant they were easily able to re-let the room. This was disappointing and a failure of basic human consideration.

Nice bathroom with a rain shower and a good size glass shower cubicle. The lounge was cosy, especially as we visited just before Christmas so it was very festive. Staff were friendly and pleasant. Pros: The hospitality of the hostess and her farther was exceptional very welcoming . I emailed asking if I could park my motorcycle in the garage and they had made a space for my arrival and were ready when I arrived. The breakfast was lovely and well presented at a time of our choosing. The area feels very safe even late at night as does the whole of the beautiful city of Valkenburg. The hotel gave us discount vouchers for many attractions and restaurant's on arrival. For the price paid we were very satisfied with this Hotel and we will stay here again.

Cons: Nothing to really dislike given the good value of the hotel. The weather was very hot during our stay and the room was very warm but the hotel provided a fan which helped. This is not a criticism of the hotel

Pros: We come to Valkenburg every year for the Midsummer Prog Festival and it’s our second stay at the Hotel Lela. This time we had my in-laws with us. It really is a home from home. The location is perfect, a stone’s throw from the Openluchttheatre where the festival is held but away from the busy main streets. Denise is the most friendly and welcoming host, nothing is too much trouble! My father in law had bought a belt which was too loose and Denise’s father made a new hole for it. We had forgotten suncream and Denise brought us some to put on before we went out. Just a couple of examples of how she goes above and beyond to ensure the comfort of guests! Breakfast in the morning on the pretty terrace in front of the hotel was a particular highlight. Most of all, my in-laws loved it! We will be back next year.

Cons: We just found the hotel area to be really dated. The breakfast order wasn’t taken twice and when they did deliver the breakfast there was never any salt. They were always empty.

Cons: The hotel doesn't deliver the experience that we were expecting, for a 4-star hotel. Everything is not 4 star, in all details. The pool was nice, but it not worth it the money. Also, they charge you for everything, even simple things like flip flops to use in the pool area. The access to the room is poor, also the room itself.

Pros: Brilliant place to relax as well as travel to local towns; Valkenburg, Aachen & Maastricht. We only had breakfast & lunch at the hotel which were both good.

Cons: Queuing for breakfast, room not big enough. Robes and slippers not included in rooms, had to hire these.

Pros: + fluffy bed, pillows and carpets; + delicious breakfast, a lot of options; + Welness centre has a lot of space and options to do. The restaurant Senses on the sight is a marvelous bohemic place to relax inbetween sauna sessions; + Beautiful location, a stroll away from the old town.

Cons: - the hotel guests have to pay extra 14 euros for parking, that is a ripp-off, cause I don't see a point why a hotel should charge you extra for parking; - if you make reservation via booking.com, check weather the hotel is providing you with extra amenities like bathrobes, bed preferencies ect. cause in our case if we wouldn't point out to the lady at the desk that we had bathrobes included we would be paying extra.

Pros: Location was excellent and staff were friendly.

Cons: This place has the potential to be much nicer, but unfortunately it hasn't been taken care of. Simply walking up the staircase to the second floor feels as though it may come crashing down at any moment -- the same is true for the floorboards in the rooms. The bathroom resembled the photos, though it was a shame to see how poor maintenance had been: non-functioning extractor fan that hadn't seen a cloth since installation; saggy mattresses; very noisy if you get unlucky with neighbors and a squeaky and bouncy floor.

Pros: The hotel is located right in the centre of the town, Christmas market was 30 meters away, all the restaurants were less than 5 minutes walk away. If you want to be in the heart of the things to do you can't go wrong with this hotel.

Cons: Be careful if you are using the trains, they can be cancelled and you don't have many options if this happens.

Pros: The location was excellent. Right in the center and an easy walk from the train station and all the Christmas markets. The staff were helpful and friendly. Breakfast was a good buffet spread and the beds were SO comfy! Overall an excellent stay and I would recommend them to anyone looking for accommodation in the area.

Cons: Nothing! Only a suggestion for improvement, it would be nice if the hotel had negotiated discounted rate for a nearby parking lot, since the hotel is not accessible by car.

Pros: This is our third stay at the Hotel Botterweck. The hotel is very clean & comfortable and its location is excellent. We have always had a warm welcome from the staff, who are very helpful. We always stay the same time of the year as we enjoy the Christmas parade - this is amazing to see the children, of all ages, taking part - and also the caves Christmas markets. The history of the caves is extremely interesting and we are looking at visiting in the summer so that we can experience the tours and history of the caves.

Pros: The hotel is a beautiful building in a lovely location, including being near many excellent restaurants and historical sites. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful and the breakfast was fresh and with a great choice. The room was small but adequate and the bathroom excellent.

Cons: It was not at all easy to find and we had to park well away from the hotel either in a public car park or in a rather expensive private car park

Pros: We liked the friendly staff and the location of the hotel, being in town centre only a few metres away from lunch rooms and restaurants. Breakfast was good, the beds were very good and so was the TV, good size and perfect picture. The kitchen was small but just good enough for basic cooking etc. The view from our apartment no. 11 was very special. The hotel parking was safe and only a 5 minutes walk away from the hotel.

Cons: As our apartment no. 11 had no air conditioning we recommend the kitchen door to the external stairs to be fitted with a hook to the door post for ventilation. The apartment has 2 windows but only one could be opened for ventilation, the other one got stuck. There is no basket or tray for bottles and soap in the shower. The floor of the shower is super slippery. The basin could do with a shelf for the ladies to put there makeup things on.

Cons: There was no shampoo or soap in room and when asked they came back and told me they don't do that anymore. Plus the beds where just little hard for me.

Pros: Staff is very friendy and helpfull. The breakfast is good, enough choice for all (bread, toast, meusli, fruit, ham, cheese...). The interior of the restaurant is very nice. We did not have the opportunity to have dinner, but we saw happy faces in the restaurant when we pass.

Cons: We had a room in the roof, and it was little cold and very small bathroom. And the stairs were very narrow. Not easy to bring your luggage up and down. Good for short stays. For a stay of a week i would prefer a bigger room.

The location is perfect - there is parking at the hotel for guests and it is just a short walk from the town center, Xmas markets and restaurants. The bar in the hotel is excellent and reasonably priced too.

Cons: The room had a big bed which was two separated beds put together and two separated blankets. This was uncomfortable for me and my boyfriend, for we like to sleep close together. The room had a bad lighting, which was a problem only in the night before sleeping. Otherwise it was fine. You could also hear everything from the stairway, which unfortunately woke us up. The hotel has a WiFi, but it didn't work.

Cons: - It is a room for a couple, but the bed is NOT a double bed. Its 2 single beds put together. What is the logic behind it?! Very uncomfortable. - Room doors do not lock by default and if you forget to lock, people can just walk inside.

Pros: I loved the location, near public transport, the town is beautiful. The property also amazing, clean and staff very friendly. Farieda was a God send and she really went the extra mile in making sure my stay was comfortable.

Cons: I don't understand why this hotel has good reviews for food. The breakfasts were mediocre at best. No variety at all. It was the same omelette, boiled eggs, bacon, and some sliced meat and cheese. There was also bread, jam, cereal, some yoghurt and cut fruit. But no fresh vegetables or salads at all, during all our stay. Coffee was really bad too. Food was so disappointing we wanted to go to the restaurant instead. Staff - staff would open the doors and come to our room WITHOUT knocking, WITHOUT us asking for them to come. They would just open the door, come in and ask if we had anything from the mini bar. What?! No "excuse me, is anyone here? Can we come in?", no "sorry but we were doing some checks and wondered if it was you who needed...", nothing. And that happened SEVERAL TIMES during our stay. We didn't feel like we had privacy at all, this had never happened in a hotel before. Who comes to a room without knocking?! That is very unprofessional and unacceptable.

Pros: Location was fine as directly in the heart of the small city; breakfast was nice

Cons: Extremely small rooms, bed super uncomfortable (totally soft mattress, couldn’t sleep and had backpain next morning ), you hear everything from the neighbor room. Elevator so old like from the 50ies, one must be afraid to get stuck. When entering the building in the afternoon, a strange smell (sewage?) in the entrance hall welcomed us. Bar already closed at 11pm, you don’t get even a glass of water at that time. But the real ‘highlight‘ was the head of reception, an elderly lady, who was yelling at us when we politely asked to change rooms as we couldn’t sleep on the mattress. She couldn’t help here, which can be the case, but no service staff ever treated us like this, this behavior you don’t even expect from staff in a youth hostel, offensively starting a conversation with guests with ‚what do you want from me?‘ while already raising her voice. Still shocked. 4 Stars?!? 135 Euro / Night?!? No comment. Never again.

Pros: Hello everyone. I would recommend you to think over other options to say in Valkenburg. Let me start with the positive things: - The hotel is located in the city center, 50 meters from the main street, full of restaurants; - They have their own parking lots, but you need to pay for that - something lime 11 EUR - not bad; - Super-fast check-in and check-out, everything is ready for your visit; - The cleanest bathroom I've ever seen in the hotels ever. Literally sterile; - Comfortable bed and pillows!. -Quote room. I would say - if you above 50, that is the perfect place for you.

Cons: Honestly, I was expecting something more from the Scandinavian 4 start hotel. It looks like an old-fashioned German 4 start hotel. therefore the price is not correlated with the quality. Breakfast is poor and very standard. Scrambled eggs, bacon, sausages... cheese, ham and generally that is all.

Maintenance: Sharpe edges at pool, my son had a small cut on feet, screw sticks out of floor in room, toilet didn't stop flushing and other small points. Old beds, very soft mattress, I could hardly sleep on it. Service: made a complaint and they did not do anything with it. Booked the restaurant at reception but was not known at the restaurant. Service in restaurant poor. Did not clean the wellnes area properly over the 3 nights we were there. Long queue at check-in. Not as one would expect from 4 stars.

Rooms let in lots of outside noise. Hotel gym is extremely warm because it is next to the pool area and the cleaners prop the door open.

Cons: I will never go back in this hotel. I booked a room in this hotel for 2 nights during the Christmas holidays, and I paid a total amount of 450€ (around 200€ per night). When I made the online reservation, I accepted to pay this price because I really expected a service & room quality of a 5-star hotel but, instead, my wife and I had the impression to be in a (maximum) 2-star hotel. First, one of the bed lamps was out of order, and the ceiling light was so dim that it was very difficult to read one’s book in the bedroom. Additionally, the number of TV channels was very limited (most basic TV package of the Netherlands). I mentioned these three problems two times at the reception, but nothing has been done, and, of course, not even a word of excuse, though I had been promised that a technician would intervene. But more important is that the room is old-fashioned, the noise insulation provided by the window is largely insufficient (we could clearly hear the movement of vehicles passing along the road nearby), and the noise insulation provided by the very basic door is even more insufficient (I woke up suddenly at 3 o’clock in the morning, simply because two guests came back at the hotel and talked a bit loud), and the width of the duvet on the bed was insufficient. Not to mention, the lack of communication skill from the hotel manager who cut short our exchange of e-mails simply because she didn't like the tone of my message. Incredible ! There are plenty of hotels in Valkenburg. You will easily find one that is half the price of what I paid, and of a much better quality. When I selected Hotel Park, I automatically thought that the price would be in line with the quality and service that anybody can expect for 200€ per night, especially in an area like Valkenburg, which is not a big city. Instead, we have been given a basic, old-fashioned, dark, gloomy room, whose price is largely overrated. We have clearly been cheated. This is not honest.

Cons: The statement that parking is on site is incorrect as it is round the corner in another street which is quite a long walk to carry bags.

Pros: Close to village center. Offered a family room.

Cons: Very small bathrooms, no soap or hairdryer in rooms. Felt more like a hostel than a hotel. Walls were very thin and people were loud coming in drunk and small children crying. Room was freezing when we arrived. We wouldn’t stay here again.

Cons: Rooms old and poor. The hotel gave us the feeling that we were in a football (soccer) club house.

Pros: Love the couple who run this hotel. Amicable and helpful. Love the breakfast. Love the location.

Cons: Would be better if room had some cutlery...a couple of glasses and a bottle of water.

Pros: Very nice staff and good proximity to the tourist restaurant strip.

Cons: Bed linens were stiff, pillows flat and mattresses soft. Decor needs help as current level very cheap.
