Overview

Kendal has long been the doorway to the Lake District, a busy little market town of grey limestone, independent shops and the original makers of Kendal mint cake. The Lakeland Kendal Hotel, is close to the town centre, a former coaching inn just a hundred metres from the railway station. That puts the whole region within easy reach: the Lakes rising to the west, the Yorkshire Dales to the east, Windermere fifteen minutes away, and Morecambe Bay twenty. Inside, bright bedrooms keep their original character, and the 1910 Dining Room serves full English breakfasts and evening meals built on local ingredients. Settle into the lounge bar after a day on the fells and you will understand why walkers have stopped here for generations. Medieval Sizergh Castle is a short drive out, and the trailheads of two national parks are closer still. Book your stay at The Lakeland Kendal Hotel, Sure Hotel Collection by BW and let Kendal point you toward the hills.
