Overview

Right at the Wilhelmshohe railway station, the Best Western Hotel Kurfuerst Wilhelm I, Kassel, Germany, is a boutique hotel in a building from around 1900, with individually styled rooms, a tower suite, high ceilings and characterful touches, in-room coffee and tea, free Wi-Fi, a free local transport ticket, and garage parking beneath the hotel. The boutiques of Bad Wilhelmshohe sit close by and the great hillside park rises right above, with the centre of Kassel a short tram ride away. The palace and its water cascades stand just behind the station. Kassel is a north Hessian city famous for art and a spectacular hillside park climbing the slopes above town. The UNESCO-listed Bergpark Wilhelmshohe rises in water cascades and woodland to a giant statue of Hercules, the documenta art show makes Kassel a world capital of modern art every few years, and the heritage of the fairy-tale Brothers Grimm lives on in a dedicated museum. Forests and the Habichtswald hills ring the city.
