Wonderful beach area. Had free bikes you could use. Indoor and outdoor pool. Sauna, steam rooms, massage area, wonderful private balconies. would definitely return.

Pros: The best hotel! Thank you. Marek
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Perfect locatiin. Amazing stay. Staff was very attentive. They went out of their way to assist my mother and even drove to a local market to purchase soy milk for my breakfast. I'm in the travel industry and highly recommend this hotel
7,1 Good
Pros: The hotel is in a great central location for the Festival and tourist sites in a (quiet during the day) pedestrian side street.
Cons: Having stayed in Salzburg several times before it is a mistake to assume that pedestrian zones are quiet. Especially in the morning at a very early hour there is an incredible racket of manual handling of rubbish collection and deliveries which makes it next to impossible to leave the windows open. As the rooms have no air conditioning you have to choose between a rather sticky hot night or being awoken at 5.30am by the noise outside. Better to find a hotel with enough ventilation or aircon to be able to close the windows!!
8,3 Excellent
Pros: Ulrike the reception/front desk went way beyond her duties helping us with parking, luggage etc. Loved the location! Welcome/check-in was first-class!Thank you again
Cons: The interior junior suite on the 1st floor was way too dark, and felt cloustrofobic despite the large room size.
9,2 Excellent
Pros: Wonderful ambiance in the room.
Cons: I would have appreciated knowing that there is no entrance with a vehicle, as this is a pedestrian only cobbled street. Wifi was not great either
7,5 Good
Cons: Could have done with air conditioning
9,2 Excellent
Pros: super good restaurant
Cons: wall papers
9,6 Excellent
Pros: Everything was absolutely perfect.
Cons: A little noisy in the morning when shops are beginning to open.

9,2 Excellent
Pros: we loved the location, ideal for walking to all the "must see" spots, and close to good restaurants and cafes. the breakfast was good, dinner even better! the welcome was warm and friendly, with good advise.
Cons: the lack of English TV entertainment channels (i was hoping for SKY SPORTS to catch the golf), lots of channels, mostly German. We had the same issue at Berlin and Munich so maybe a regional thing, though the Park Hyatt in Hamburg had SKY.
7,5 Good
Pros: Staff were amazing. The location is perfect.
Cons: No AC. It was very hot. Could not sleep.

Breakfast included honey from their own beehives! Easy walking distance to sights and on-site parking available.
9,2 Excellent
Pros: Really beautiful hotel with the nicest mini spa, with a fantastic view over the city from the roof terrace. Breakfast and bar snack were delicious. We were travelling with our baby and he had a lovely big cot and a little teddy bear waiting for him which was very sweet.
9,0 Excellent
Pros: The mini room was lovely as was the hotel and staff. We would have preferred a larger bed because I run hot and my husband runs cool. The room was perfect besides the bed size but we knew that coming in! Breakfast was fine with lots of choices.
Cons: Just the bed size.

9,6 Excellent
Pros: The location was perfect just outside the city of Salzburg in the tranquillity of the mountains. The room was spacious enough with a small balcony overlooking the pool. Staff were very friendly and helpfull. Because of the warm wheater we were able to have breakfast and diner outside on the garden terrace.
Cons: Diner was very good but the choice of affordable dishes was limited
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Superb location on a hill just a short ride from the city center. Beautiful traditional Austrian style hotel with high comfort and levels of quality in everything from service to food to rooms. Stayed in a large, newly decorated 2-bedroom suite with plenty of space for a family of five.
Cons: Food priced at premium levels, but not unreasonable given excellent quality. During very warm weather, the lack of airconditioning is a drawback, but the freshness of the location and availability of a nice outdoor pool are great pluses.
7,5 Good
Pros: Nature is perfect. Pool is OK.
Cons: People at the reception were so rude. They are kind only to Germans/natives or rich people. What about a simple engineer with a Turkish family? They should be well educated for kindness and should behave equal to everyone.
7,1 Good
Pros: A hotel in beuautiful surroundings, super close to Salzburg, with a great spa/sauna area. It feels overpriced for what you get though, both restaurant and hotel and the room didn’t meet our expectations (totally different then showed on the pictures)
9,6 Excellent
Pros: Incredible location with a beautiful view of Salzburg. The restaurant was of a very high standard and the waiters were very attentive and friendly. The swimming pool was of good size and very clean. We recieved an upgrade for our room, and it was by far one of the nicest I have stayed in. It was very clean and spacious.
Cons: There didn't seem to be any a/c, so the room was very hot throughout the day and evening. No facilities to make tea and coffee in your room.
8,3 Excellent
Pros: Nice place with great view
Cons: Little overrsted,?in choroszmas seanon no Christmas deci
9,6 Excellent
Pros: Overall room comfort. Quality of furniture Swimming pool Location
Cons: A bit too warm (no air conditioning)
9,2 Excellent
Pros: Everything was covered with snow and it was a magnificent experience. It has beautiful rooms, full of character, neat and clean. Spa was the final touch after a full day outsode in the snowy weather.
Cons: The location seemed to be quite far from Salzburg city, but you get used to it. But once you wake up in the morning, you realize that is very beautiful outside and the ladscape is amazing. The taxi is around €18, from city to hotel.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: The hotel's location overlooking Salzburg is exceptionally beautiful and is enhanced by the hotel's classic "Alpine style". The kitchen serves really good food prepared from fresh ingredients.
Cons: While we stayed there, the hotel had a bigger party, which forced the kitchen because many of the guests had chosen to eat in the restaurant the same evening. It did mean a little waiting time, but the kitchen did not compromise on the quality of the courts.
8,3 Excellent
Pros: view was very nice, the breakfast good to very good. the room was very nice. parking place, the area very beautiful.
Cons: a little bit to cold! A little bit far from the city, but isn't a problem if you have a car!

Pros: The view of the mountains and the surrounding countryside. It’s a very pleasant area to stay with just a 20 minute bus ride into Salzburg. No parking hassles!
Cons: Dinner choices have decreased since our first stay. May be necessary to drive to restaurants to increase options, but there are several less than 10 minutes away. Or dine in Salzburg and catch a later bus.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: The hotel is fabulous.... clean and big and Gorgeous. The staff is amazing, kind and helpful. The Breakfast WAS TO DIE FOR. Stay in this darling town just outside the busy Salzburg... take the bus in or rent one of their bikes. 10 out of 10 recommend it.

9,6 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was really good with a large selection of food. Accommodation top class - very large comfortable rooms, spotlessly clean and well serviced. Staff very friendly. Liked the family run hotel.
Cons: Liked everything about the hotel. Bus stop was a little far from the hotel if you pulled luggage bags. Taxi was more convenient.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: A wonderful family run hotel. Flower laden balcony room with view of Unterberg Mountain. Very comfortable room. The breakfast room has recently been updated. It is light and airy yet does not lose any traditional ambiance. Excellent breakfast. Beautiful grounds. Highly recommend.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: It was excellent experience. Friendly stuff, great breakfast and perfect location. Less than 2 kilometers to cable car (and into the mountains) and 400 meters to bus stop (and into center of Salzburg). And balcony with garden and mountains view... Everything was perfect!

Pros: Location - view from our balcony towards Untersberg was lovely. Breakfast very good overlooking the garden. No25 bus from central Salzburg to Grodig very convenient and stops at quite a few of the sights.

Pros: LOVELY STAFF WHO WERE WELCOMING, HELPFUL, FRIENDLY. BREAKFAST WAS EXCELLENT. ROOMS WERE FIRST RATE. IT IS IN A WONDERFUL LOCATION ABOUT 6KM FROM SALZBURG. YOU CAN WALK TO SALZBURG ALONG A BEAUTIFUL PATH THAT FOLLOWS A CANAL. THERE WERE PEOPLE SURFING IN THE CANAL, BELIEVE IT OR NOT. THIS PLACE CAN'T BE FAULTED. IT IS A 10/10 FOR ME
Cons: NOTHING
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Very nice hotel and nice, helpful and not-annoying personal. I got late check-in (came there around 22:00, took my room-card from the box near front door). Other hotels in the area doesn’t have late check-in, so that’s your choice, night-traveler. Beside that, they have good decoration in the hall, helpful flyers, maps, bus schedule and etc. Thanks!
10,0 Excellent
Pros: The staff were always happy to answer our questions: where could we get the best local gelato(which was GREAT) to where could we buy Birkenstock shoes at a good price, (which we did) they greeted us with smiles, always happy to get us ice. (We Americans love our ice)
Cons: No air conditioning and there was a heat wave 4 days in the 90’s (F). They did put fans in our rooms

7,9 Good
Pros: The nature and surroundings are beautiful. The view from the 3 bedroom was amazing! You could hear a stream, other than that a very quiet location. The breakfast was tasty. The owner let us see the animals in the stall which was fun for us.
Cons: We traveled with a 2 year old and I was looking for an accommodation with a playground. Even though we traveled in late April and it was warm, the owner said they haven't put it up yet (there were a few bits of snow on the ground). I wasn't counting on this and therefore we didn't have much to do around the house (it is quite secluded) and had to do all day trips (that were great, though). I would check before you go if this is important for you. Our double bed in the 3 bedroom was very squeaky and there was a lot of light in the morning (shades or darker curtain would help) so we all got up around 6am every day and I wish we didn't have to during our vacation. The owner doesn't really speak English.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: The area, the view, the fresh air, the clean rooms, the nice staff and the tasty breakfast.
Cons: There was nothing I did not like.
9,2 Excellent
Pros: Extremely clean and tastefully furnished rooms, lovely views from rooms, plenty trails for walking in unspoilt nature, quiet and peaceful.
Cons: Would have to travel by car as the farm is a bit outside the main tourist area. It also therefore requires extra driving to get to some of the tourist attractions, although we enjoyed the stunning nature along the way. Bathroom is small and shower without soap dish or rack to put something on. But does not take away from a really nice place to stay.
9,6 Excellent
Pros: Loved it! Amazing place, superb accommodation a very friendly staff.
Cons: English could be improved, other than that there is nothing to improve!
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Absolutely amazing place and view from balcony. Family Oberascher was so friendly and nice. Breakfast was great and we enjoyed every day. It's included with accomodation, so just perfect. We would love to be back one time :) I recommend it!
Cons: nothing :)

10,0 Excellent
Pros: Location was great.Room was larger than tipical in Europe.
Cons: No
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Tha staff was kind The location
Cons: No thing
9,2 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast was very good and there was a lot of choices, including an omelet/eggs to order station. The hotel was only a few minutes walking distance of Mirabell Palace and gardens, and major historic attractions and shopping. While located within a busy area, the rooms were very quiet with plenty of storage space.
Cons: Our only complaint, though a minor one, is that the breakfast set-up could've been designed better. Unfortunately, they put the hot food entrees, (pre-cooked eggs, sausages, bacon, etc...) alongside the line to order at the eggs station. So, many were standing in line thinking that it was the line for the hot breakfast items, not realizing until they got up there that people were in line for made to order eggs only.
9,2 Excellent
Pros: They upgraded us upon arrival and our room was huge and clean and very comfortable
Cons: The coffee was instant but at least there was coffee
10,0 Excellent
Pros: I shared a room with my sister and was given two separate rooms, this was an amazing advantage as we each hot our own space after we came back from a day of sightseeing
Cons: No complaints
10,0 Excellent
Pros: The hotel is located just a short walk from the main shopping streets of Salzburg, parking is just a few steps away, the staff and services were excellent and the rooftop terrace offers awesome views of the city and the mountains.
9,2 Excellent
Pros: It is not far from train station in Salzburg. The restaurant for breakfast / dinner has nice city view. The room should have been renovated and is beautifully decorated.
Cons: Some brown red marble in lobby seem a bit old fashioned, not matching the rest hotel design.
10,0 Excellent
Cons: I liked everything, a very nice hotel
8,0 Excellent
Pros: The room was very nice but we paid good money for it. Very good breakfast. 10 minutes walking distance to city sight seeing. 15 minutes from train station. And car rentals.
Cons: Even though had a air conditioning, the room intended to get hot at some time.

Pros: Amazing place, there’s parking free. And al staff are helpful I will come back to this place
Cons: Nothing bad
8,8 Excellent
Pros: The hotel is new and clean with a cozy and luxery spa atmosphere and cool inferior. Small but nice indoor and outdoor pool including sauna with free bathrobes (deposit) and towels. Very nice and safe garden with a small playground. Breakfast buffet had a very good selections of quality products. Although the hotel is placed by a countryside road with lots of traffic especially during rushhour to and from Salzburg, the place felt quiet and calm with a beautiful view to the mountains. Great location very close to the highway and only about 15 minutes drive to Salzburg surrounded by fields and small villages. The staff was very kind, welcoming and always ready to help.
Cons: During our stay, the weather was extraordinary hot. Without air conditioning in the room and only a floor fan, it was hard to sleep at night. However, I assume that it won't be an issue during more normal summer weather. The gym is small and placed in the basement without windows.

Pros: I like the style of the hotel. Luxury and elegant. Everything meets my expectations except the price.
Cons: The price was bit high. I think because it was Summer art festival,
9,6 Excellent
Pros: The high standards, in terms of quality, politeness and efficiency, have been kept and to the benefits of the guests. The on-going reconstruction works did not bother us, really. The grill section, securing good quality of foods and drinks, appear to be understaffed evidenced by guests waiting for service at the gate. The staff working at the reception desk were smiling and ready to help answering any requests, including the concierge and porters.

Pros: This hotel was amazing! We felt like royalty. The staff was exceptional. It is a quick walk to all the local sites! The refreshments left in our room were a surprise bonus. We loved it and would definitely stay again!
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Lovely hotel. Great staff. Friendly and helpful. Concierge and team very knowledgeable, thank you. Asked for a thinner quilt which was supplied no problem.
Cons: Evening specials in the restaurant would have been better printed as a flier rather than being told by the waiter. A pair of wooden tongs for retrieving the toast out of the toaster would help.

Pros: Hotel is conveniently located for festival goers. Facility is old and room small.

5,0 Okay
Pros: The location
Cons: The lack of light in my room (114), the bad cleaning of the room, the fact that the door to the terrace was left open from 10.am-6.pm (until my return to the room) The price for breakfast being 25€ and having no pastries, no warm option (solely on demand)

9,6 Excellent
Pros: My first trip to Salzburg was about 10 years ago, and I also stayed here at Blaue Gans. On this most recent trip, the staff were exceptionally welcoming and friendly and very helpful in answering our questions and making sure that we got all or the information we needed to find our way around and to also ensure we were comfortable during our stay. I really like the boutique feel of the hotel and that the rooms are designed in a way that's modern, but comfortable. The location is absolutely perfect for exploring the historical old town, especially around the Getreidegasse (where it's located) and visiting Mozart's birth house. If you stay in this part of the city, take note that it's a very busy tourist area. However, I also find this to be something which does not take away from the charm of the area - not like other cities. Getting back to the safe, quiet haven of the Blaue Gans was perfect.
Cons: There isn't much that I could fault with the hotel at all. The only thing that all 3 of us had issues with, was the connectivity of the internet. It kept dropping off. Even thought I was on holiday with my family, there's always work to be done and I would it a little difficult to get things done. They might consider looking into improving wifi connectivity throughout the hotel.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: This is a great hotel in a very central location in Salzburg. The front desk staff is exceptionally friendly and helpful. We felt very welcomed and they made everything easier. They also seemed to recognize our family every time we walked through the lobby. It was a great experience. We had two rooms. Both were amazing and cool in different ways. They were both spacious with interesting design. The beds were particularly comfortable, and we appreciated the good air conditioning during what turned out to be a historic heat wave. Also, given the central location on a busy tourist street, the hotel has done a great job of soundproofing the windows to make for a quiet room.
Cons: The location is very central, on the main business/tourist street in the old town. That makes it a matter of preference. We tend to want to stay slightly away from all the tourists, and this is right in the heart of things. On the other hand, it couldn't have been more convenient for getting out in the evening and seeing sights. Despite how busy the street can be during the days, the soundproof double windows made it feel like a refuge from the crowds all the same. Our only other slight criticism was the service at breakfast could have been a bit more attentive. We ate breakfast twice, and both days it required some work to get the attention of the severs. Nothing major, and we might have just hit it on a bad day.

Pros: Breakfast offer was good but they didn't even have English tea! Spa ok but could be open longer hours during the day proximity to Salzburg for rainy days
Cons: Beds uncomfortable, no table or sofa in the initial room we were given. Church bells (located next door) start at 6.00 am .............. rather early, also loud and long! wifi average Should be able to offer more eating alternatives such as gluten free, vegetables, fruit

Pros: Breakfast was higher than expcted. Good quality foods were served.
Cons: Room was lower than expected. Still do not understand why there were two stained chairs without a table. Maybe decoration. Regarding Sauna, it takes much renovation so that people can use it comfortably

Pros: This hotel is blessed by a fantastic large spa area, which truly is a paradise. The location of Hintersee is idyllic. Meals were good and all the staff were charming - actually I think many of them were members of the Ebner family.
Cons: We were given a ground floor room in a building just across the road from the main hotel building, but the room was fine and still had a patio and good outlook and the road is very quiet at night.

Pros: Location, clean accomodation, pleasant staff, awesome nature around, free parking, calm place
9,6 Excellent
Pros: Special mention for Nicole. We had to leave early for tours and she managed to provide us with coffee amd breakfast before actual opening hours. Her customer service skills were excellent despite time pressures. I also liked that there was a Sauna room and that Sonnleiten felt like home away from home. Love the design. Was hoping we had more time. I will definitely return to Sonnleiten if and when i visit Salzburg again. Kudos.
Cons: That we couldn't eat at the big hotel nor could we order take out. Receptionist automatically suggested we eat in surrounding establishments and even offered to order for us. Just dont get that. And, our taxi bill was included in our total check out. We were told we should pay the taxi driver directly when we booked it. It's a good thing my friend checked our bill cause if not, we would have paid twice. We went back and the driver was able to confirm that yes, it was charged in our total bill. Receptionist should've informed the driver and us. Oh. It would be nice if there were lights in the balcony. Even just a little lamp.

Pros: Location, View, Breakfast, Bed, Ambiance
Cons: Would be nice to have a kettle in the room

7,9 Good
Pros: Nice quiet location, close to the lake. Good sauna.
Cons: The photos of the property are probably 10 year old. The room’s decoration is outdated and looks gloomy with dim lights. The swimming pool is a pond with green water and algae, not a real swimming pool.

Pros: so lovely! quite and peaceful by the lake with a very nice natural pool, which was warmer than the very cold lake! breakfast was great, server was fantastic and super friendly. we brought our cat and she enjoyed walking in the grass around the pool! they were very accommodating!
Cons: only 2 or 3 dinner options in the immediate area, one needed reservations, the second closed very early and third was a fine, average dinner place.

10,0 Excellent
Pros: We really enjoyed our stay. Hochegg is a very nice place with amazing view and owners are very nice and friendly, willing to help all the time. It’s calm and cozy pleace. We highly recommend to visit it downthere.
Cons: I would appreciate wifi password available on a lable in the room and courtaines on the window at the toilet. One corner of the bed was i bit broken and very sharp so we had to cover it to avoid injuries else everything was perfect and we loved the place!!!
9,2 Excellent
Pros: Owner is a very likeable person. She was looking after us very carefully. Very nice nature.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Enjoying the country atmosphere, the beautiful surrounding villages and lakes, the super friendly host, family and people we met in the village. The peace and quiet after doing the tourist thing in Salzburg etc.
Cons: Didn't stay longer:(
9,6 Excellent
Pros: This was a great base for a fabulous 3 days skiing in the Hintersee ski area. (Only 10 minutes away from Faistenau on a free ski bus). Lovely to stay in an authentic Austrian house. So quiet and great views. Good breakfast, cosy room and a couple of restaurants nearby. Easy access from Salzburg on a public bus. A perfect break.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: The location and its surroundings are very beautiful and the staff is very friendly.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: I really liked my stay, I was able to relax from the city life, and do some nice hiking to the mountains. The hostess was very kind and hospitable. The bed was very comfortable and clean. The village itself (Faistenau) is relatively close to the main routes of the region. If you're traveling by public transport, you'll need to remember the bus number 155 which connects Faistenau to Salzburg*, and with Hof bei Salzburg where you can catch the bus 150 to go in the other direction (Bad Ischl). * At certain hours this bus goes only until Hof,you'll need to change to 150 to get to Salzburg. Use the internet/app (OÖVV Info) to get more info.
Cons: Flies. They are everywhere in the summer. I had some incineration tools in my room, but they kept coming :) Don't go to this region in summer if you can't stand those small buzzing creatures sucking your blood. Also, it wasn't a case for me, but I'll write it here to draw more attention. This is a family guesthouse, so if you're "allergic" to kids, it probably won't be your best choice.

7,1 Good
Pros: Cleanness of room was very good and it was an excellent size. Breakfast was good.
Cons: Room was in need of some renovation. Walls had many scratches. When showering in the morning the water went cold and we had to close the tap for little while until the water became hot again. We stayed only one night and thus it was night value for money for us as we could not use any of the facilities in the Hotel. Therefore in our opinion this Hotel is not value for money for one night but it is better value if you stay at least one week.
8,8 Excellent
Pros: The location is directly at the border of Germany. The hotel is located just under the mountain and gives a nice view. We had a big balcony with Mountain View.
Cons: The Sofa bed was not comfortable for sleeping.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: We enjoyed our staying very much. It is a clean, safe and very beautiful place. The view over the mountain was stunning! The bus stop was virtually round the corner. The staff members were delicate and helpful. The breakfast was tasty! Even the ordinary-looking fried eggs were absolutely delicious! The hotel has its own restaurant open throughout the day which is very convenient. And the kitchen is marvellous!
Cons: We missed only one thing - an electric kettle in our room with a daily selection of teas!
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Really nice hotel. Modern and spacious but with more character than I was expecting too. Delicious dinner in the garden and a phenomenal breakfast! Free WiFi, loads of free parking, staff were super friendly and attentive. A really lovely experience. Best (and unexpected) bit was the location - at the foot of Salzburg mountain and the cable car is literally across the street. Amazing views - well worth the trip!
9,6 Excellent
Pros: The location couldn't be better. You are right in the middle between Salzburg and Berchtesgaden, only a short bus ride or drive from each place. The hotel is right at the foot of the Untersberg. The hotel was clean and with a very good restaurant with very affordable prices. The breakfast was great, something for everyone. We were very happy with this hotel.
Cons: Could have done with some AC in the room. It was very warm and stuffy in there at nights and the wide balcony meant there was no breeze even with the windows open. This is really the only negative I could say about the hotel.

Pros: Everything is excellent.
