6,7 Good
Cons: Single room was small. Bath could use a change. Maybe better if not a single guy.
8,0 Excellent
Pros: Typical Ryokan ... enjoyed the traditional feeling ... ... Thanks for pick up / and Bring Service to Hikone Station (heavy rain due to taifun).
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Very dedicated owner they took us back to the jR train station, and did everything to make our stay as excellent as possible. Excellent traditional japanese restaurant less than one minute (forgot the name but when you exit the ryokan, take right, then right again at the next intersection - The restaurant is 50 meter along the street on the right side...
9,6 Excellent
Pros: Authentic location. Exactly as we hoped.
9,6 Excellent
Pros: I was collected from the train station (the tourist information office rang them to say I had arrived) and taken back the next day. Otherwise would’ve been a 15-20 min walk. The Ryokan was beautiful - traditional rooms and shower/bath room. The staff were lovely!
Cons: I went to Hikone to head to Mount Ibuki to hike (which was great and just a 50min ride away by public transport), but arrived at 4pm on check in day so explored Hikone but there wasn’t much going on - it was quiet and lots of places closed or closed early, so be careful when planning dinner!
7,0 Good
Pros: Room is clean and spacious but tired need touched up
Cons: Toilet is too far from our room and the hotel is too cold to walk around. Pillow is very hard and high. Slippers provided are too big for Asian women. It comes out easily and will cause accident when you climb up and go down the stairs.
9,6 Excellent
Pros: Really excellent traditional Ryokan. Bathrooms were shared but were very nice. The rooms show some wear but overall this felt like a very traditional place with excellent employees.

9,2 Excellent
Pros: It’s a little far from the station, about 30 minutes walking, but the room is very good and definitely worth the price, and the tea in the room tastes very good.
8,8 Excellent
Pros: It was an old ryokan who had seen better days. The room was old. We slept on futon which was comfortable. But the airline wasn’t working very well, it was hot at some point in the night cos the blanket was thick and comfortable. The bathroom was shared, you have to follow a strict showering female and male schedule. You have to strip naked as there are no cubicles! But the water was heavenly. It is just like an onsen bathing room except that there was no onsen. Hikone town is quiet. The shops close at 8 pm so grab your dinner and early. Otherwise you have to do a takeout from Lawson convenience store.
Cons: The lighting in the room and the aircon that didn’t work.
9,6 Excellent
Pros: The futon was really comfy, and everywhere looked really clean. The owner was very friendly. The area looked fun to to explore, and it wasn't too far from the castle.
Cons: There's only one bathroom/ shower room, so use between men and women is on a rotation schedule. It was a little inconvenient as I had to wait to use the shower, but it didn't ruin my stay at all. Just something to be aware of.
9,2 Excellent
Pros: Laundry service was available. The staff would wash and dry your clothes, you don't have to fumble with the machine and hang your own clothes. The staff did everything for me, even folded my clothes and had it packed nicely in a basket for me the next morning. Also bicycles were available for use for free. So even though the location of the place was quite far from the main sightseeing areas, the bicycle helped me travel quickly to these places. Also the owner seeing that I had a lot of luggage, offered to send me to the station.
Cons: The toilet area was unisex. There was no partition segregation between the 2 urinal and the 2 toilet bowels. So I'm not sure how it would work if both a man and a woman were to use the that space.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Owner was very friendly and the ryokan is actually quite nice with a small garden. Room was spacious. The Ryokan is also somewhat near Hikone castle and the train station so that's a great boon. Do consider getting the bfast and dinner package though. It smells nice from my room.

7,0 Good

6,7 Good

Pros: The room was good - it cooled down quickly. The staff were friendly and attentive and able to handle my poor spoken Japanese. The shuttle bus service was excellent
Cons: the location was OK if you had a vehicle - otherwise a bit of a hassle to catch the local train and walk to hotel
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Perfect overnight stay. 24 hour restaurants right next door as well as a convenience store a 5 minute walk away. Hotel staff was very accommodating and the breakfast was huge and flavorful. The room was small but perfect for light travelers such as myself. Everything was very clean and the bed comfortable. I'd stay here again no doubt.
9,6 Excellent
Pros: They run a free shuttle bus to Hikone station in the morning, there's fresh baked bread at breakfast (along with a wide variety of other options) everything was incredibly clean and new looking, and smelled very nice. There's an on site restaurant and also a lot of other options nearby.
Cons: I'm not sure if there's a shuttle *from* the station too- I only found out about the one *to* the station by chance. Otherwise it's about a 20-30 minute walk.
8,0 Excellent
Pros: The lovely lady at reception who went out of her way to try and solve the lack of wi-go in my room. Good hotel with an easy walk from train station (10 minutes).
Cons: Working wi-fi in my room but I'm sure that was only a temporary situation - something needed a re-boot. So it would be harsh to be critical of the hotel because every other aspect was good
7,1 Good
Pros: Nice breakfast for the price we have paid.

With a stay at Hotel Estacion Hikone, you'll be centrally located in Hikone, a 4-minute drive from Hikone Castle and 6 minutes from Lake Biwa. Featured amenities include complimentary wired Internet access, complimentary newspapers in the lobby, and dry cleaning/laundry services. Limited parking is available onsite.
7,9 Good
Pros: The staff are very welcoming. The hotel is quiet, despite being near a busy road and very close to the JR station. The castle is an easy walk down the Main Street. Try to make time to walk some way around the moat - quite atmospheric. Several restaurants around the hotel / station close early-ish (21.00). I recommend an Okinawan-themed bar / restaurant called 'Peter and Mary' - turn right out of the hotel, cross the main road, and then first left - 50 meters. Note: the hotel was running a discounted offer of imported (bottled) beers + outdoor seating.

8,0 Excellent
Pros: We could use hotel’s bicycles for 2 days for free which made our moving around very speedy and enjoyable. Staff was friendly and caring. Place and surroundings are not crowded, so you don’t feel like you are a part of someone’s tour.
Cons: Room, bed and bath seemed a bit small for the money. But Hikone is not the mainstream destination, place and city didn’t look packed with tourists. I guess hotel has hard time balancing prices and costs.
6,0 Good
Pros: The room was big.
Cons: You can hear the extraction fans and the action of the electronic toilet seats in other rooms. It's loud and distracting. The pillows are also very uncomfortable. I'm glad I took my own pillow. The owner of APA Hotels is obviously a crackpot who isn't ashamed to put propaganda materials (in Japanese) espousing his own politics in every room in all his hotels.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast was very delicious
8,3 Excellent
Pros: Tidiness
Cons: None
10,0 Excellent
Pros: The room was well sized with great amenities. Staff were amazing
Cons: Not the easiest to get too with public transport. But that is the same issue with everything in the town

8,0 Excellent
Pros: The room had the necessary basics. It was clean. I especially enjoyed reading the book on Buddhism.
Cons: They decided not to provide breakfasts since it was end of the year, but I only found out about it when I checked in. I feel they should have let me know beforehand. I arrived in the late evening and would have liked to plan for this.
6,3 Good
Cons: There was a soft core porn advertisement in the room, right on top of the wifi information that was impossible to miss.
5,8 Okay
Pros: breakfast
Cons: very noisy: bedroom on express way and railway, too much noise
8,8 Excellent
Pros: Does have restaurant with low price at the hotel
Cons: It does located in quite a good location where you can get fresh air, but there is no wire screen at the windows.
8,3 Excellent
Pros: With this price, the service is worth the money. It took around 5-10 minutes from Hikone station. Also, the morning buffet also is not bad.
5,0 Okay
Pros: people were nice, welcoming.
Cons: Smoking by the entrance which is the same thing as in the lobby. It's called air and wind, it travels, it smells. MOLD everywhere in the room.
6,3 Good
Pros: The bed was very comfortable and the linen and towels very clean
Cons: Common areas are a bit dark and dingy and the carpet in the room needs to be replaced, along with the wallpaper probably. Just a bit old and tired.
