Pros:-Nice car, drove fine, good gas mileageCons:-Very slow pickup - frustrating because there were extra staff sitting there not helping customers despite there being a long line of customers waiting. Just very inefficient. -No guidance when choosing a car in the lot at pickup -No guidance/intro to how to use the car -No helping us take a first look at the car for any damage before leaving -Very few car options -Felt very expensive for what we got, despite getting a kayak rate -We have had much better experiences with Enterprise and will use them next time instead of Hertz - much better customer service, much smoother process, much faster, more professionalReviewed May 22 2017

No heart/no soulPros:The van itself was fine/expected- clean and ran smooth.Cons:We were hosting a few families and needed a larger vehicle for the weekend. When I made the reservation, I automatically placed it under my husband's name and then forgot about that small detail months later when we went to pick up the car. He dropped me off while he picked up the first round of guests to take them back to our house. I understand Hertz's policy does not allow a different person to pick up the vehicle- they informed me of this many times (the reason is Hertz will not be reimbursed by a third party if a different person picks it up)- BUT if I wanted to call, they could change the name. Being that we had so many logistical pieces at play, I decided to call to have my name as the primary driver on the reservation (note: my husband and I are both over 30, with perfect driving records and I hold a full power of attorney on my husband, which I had access to). After 45 minutes of being transferred around on the phone- no one could connect me with the correct person to change the name- I gave up and called my husband to return to the airport to pick up the van. This was another 90 minute wait for him to return. Once he did and was able to sign all the forms, the service rep told him to hang tight and they'd drive the car around. He waited for 45 min before checking in with them. They POINTED to a van parked less than 20 ft away that had been sitting there all along and was our car (no way he knew which van we were receiving and that it was there the entire time). What was supposed to be a quick 1 hr trip, turned into a 4+ hour affair, meanwhile I had a screaming and hungry infant back at home waiting my return. We will NEVER use Hertz again and will be letting as many people know as we can how horrible this experience was.Reviewed Sep 6 2017

Worst Hertz Experience everCons:Irrispective of booking a specific class vehicle 2 months in advance (T6 - Suburban or similiar) they did not have the vehicle. Told us to wait while they make a plan, 40min later we were told no plan could be made and a smaller vehicle is our only option or we can try another rental company. We then asked for a refund as the rental was paid in advance via Kayak, Hertz said even though they have received the money we will need to talk to Kayak, we might add this was after they took another $300 holding deposit. Long story short, other rental companies were sold out on such larger vehicles we therefore had to go with a smaller vehicle from Hertz. Result - Paid for a Suburban got a Tahoe, no refund, had to donate a baby stroller as all the luggage did not fit, Hertz still took and have not refunded the holding deposit as well. You’de be better off with another rental company, seems Hertz has lost the plot somewhere!!!Reviewed Dec 30 2017

Pros:Vehicle was clean and well equippedCons:No agent available at rental counter. Had to travel to a different terminal to get rental. On return, there was no one at drop-off. Sign said to proceed inside with rental agreement, mileage, fuel level, etc. Again, no agent at rental counter. Horrible pickup and customer service experience inCons:The pickup line was short, but when it was my turn, the counter agent simply directed me to an automated reservation computer, which didn't work after 2 tried. I then had to ask him to walk back to the desk and check me in himself, which he eventually did, reluctantly. Then I had to go back to sit with my family in terribly uncomfortable, dirty chairs while Hertz "got my car ready for pickup". That took at least another 15 minutes, even though it was just myself and one other person waiting. When the car finally was "ready", which actually meant the counter agent turned around and picked up the keys, it turned out he wanted to give me a Volkswagen Beetle for my family of 4, including 2 kids in carseats, instead of the midsized, 4 door car I had rented and paid for. It then took another 10 minutes for them to find a suitable car that would actually fit my family and our luggage. Overall the worst car rental experience I've had, and I travel for business often, so have a lot to compare against. I would highly suggest anyone renting a car in MSP to NOT USE HERTZ for any reason.Reviewed Dec 23 2016

Just OkayPros:The rental car pickup was easy and connected to the airport so a shuttle wasn't necessary.Cons:They had almost nothing to choose from in the midsize category. I had requested a Volkswagen and their equivalent was a Nissan Sentra (not even close in my opinion). Because of the lack of cars to choose from they had no cars with local license plates. They were in accommodating in trying to find a solution. Nothing screams tourist like Pennsylvania plates in Minnesota. I also purchased the extra insurance through Kayak and Hertz tried to sell me more. It's like they didn't recognize he Kayak insurance. They also told me I had a balance due which after closer review they realized their mistake.Reviewed Sep 4 2017
