We booked my mum and her sister were coming to meet up with their cousins which they enjoyed on the afternoon (booked under Margaret James) they booked bed, breakfast evening meal and cocktail. There was a problem getting cocktail which spoilt the whole experience. My um is 87 and my auntie 80. My husband and I only paid for bed as we were going to see a show. The next morning when we went to pay bill someone had added a bottle of wine to our room 124. We hadn’t ordered a bottle of wine as we were at the theatre and ate out. The receptionist made us feel as if we had ordered it but I assure you we hadn’t. We’ve stayed there 3 times but it has put us off coming back. Shame really. Kind regards Elizabeth Harbron
Excellent location. Friendly staff. Clean, spacious room. Lovely quality food and drinks. Beautiful building.
I wasn't asked for my car registration on arrival, so was concerned about that as didn't want a fine but told them later. The restaurant evening meal was delicious with lovely surroundings. However, the service was very poor. We waited 40 minutes for our nibbles which were then delivered to another table, then waited another 40 minutes for the main course and then another long wait to pay. People next to us had their order muddled also by the waiting staff. The breakfast waiting staff and front of house were excellent however and could probably train the evening staff.
The room was so small we knocked the sink when we entered the bathroom Not a bit like the pictures on the website
Grand style of the hotel. The gardens/grounds were impressive. The size of the bedroom.
The hotel took payment twice from my account and despite calling twice ten days later I still haven't had my money refunded. Very poor communication about a problem the hotel knew was an issue with their system and dreadful attention to returning a considerable amount of money back to my bank account.
Location was good and the room was nicely renovated
Service was very slow, there seemed to be a lot of problems being dealt with by only two people on reception. Reception was disappointing, small cramped (especially when we were all waiting to be checked in). The person dealing with us said she didn’t know if our room was ready or not, then went away to find out. We were then forgotten and our check in was not completed until I reminded them. Parking was dreadful, we had to circle the car park before finally finding someone who was about to leave.
