The bedroom was large, very old french style, high ceilings etc. The pool was lovely and that fact that we pretty much had the entire hotel to ourselves was a win. The staff were friendly enough when available.
The property is located on the same island that you get the majority of the Ha Long Bay cruises from. The island is about 20% built with numerous half built hotels around the area. Apparently we were in the end of the high season according to our hotel but there was no one there. The place is a ghost town. This meant that all the restaurants shut up very early and our hotel didn’t provide dinner due to the lack of guests. There was a good restaurant that served pizza (pretty epic at that) about half a km down the road from the hotel. But I didn’t go all the way to Vietnam to eat pizza. Additionally there were minimal staff available in the hotel. We had to go hunting for someone every morning to get towels and the subbed cushions (we tried without - not comfortable) the breakfast was also a la cartel but on our second morning we didn’t have a choice, we were just given a random selection of things. There was a pool bar, but no one was ever there so after hunting people down to get a drink it took quite a while for it come as well! Overall, my advice would be to look at staying on Cat Ba island rather than here. The hotel was ok and the staff were friendly enough but it get like a mission to do anything (get food etc). This defeats the point of a holiday. We went in the supposed high season and it was still dead so you can’t be sure what it’s going to be like.
Breakfast and breakfast staff good. The reception staff brought out a lovely cold drink of water.
Two single beds joined together very uncomfortable. Shower screen only half there making water on floor dangerous. Tv had very poor reception, no bar and couldn’t really call it a resort, maybe in the past. Two couples staying there but couldn’t have our room until 2pm. Room we did get had exposed electrical wiring
Nice pool, good location right next to the beach. Spacious room with a good airconditioner. Breakfast buffet is also nice.
The resort staff selling drinks and ice cream next to the pool try to scam you by asking triple price, of course there are no prices out so... they will try to ask whatever they thing they can get out of you. Very unpleasant.
Amazing grounds and views, we got a free upgrade to a sea view room which was lovely. Nice pool and private beach area. Our room was also very clean and big, the staff at reception were nice and helpful And also the guy that patrolled the beach was lovely.
The restaurant staff had terrible service, weren’t checking on us to make sure everything was okay, had to wait ages for the bill and also they forgot one of our meals. The overall stay was pleasant.
Location and pool were great.
Old and dated and very bare basic room, didn’t really cater to Europeans, ie no food labels on the breakfast buffet so we didn’t know what anything was which is important if you have allergies.
