Pros: Like the beautiful city of Guanajuato, this hotel is truly one of the best-kept secret gems of world travel!
8,3 Excellent
Pros: A gorgeous building with gardens and fountains throughout. Super comfortable bed in an enormous room with a lovely view of the courtyard and surrounding bluffs. We loved using the private movie theater. Spa was relaxing, even if some facilities were closed. Great part of town with several restaurants and small parks nearby. Helpful staff. Quick and tasty room service.
Cons: The sauna and men's steam room were closed for repairs. The hot tubs were either tepid or scalding.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: I loved that the hotel is not located in the old center but just outside. This gives one tranquility, quiet, and a respite from the hustle and bustle.

Pros: What started as an old home has been transferred into a stylish classic hotel with so many amenities. A beautiful pool area, a terrace with a view and a hot tub, a spa, and several places to dine. It was a quiet oasis on a lovely street in a part of Guanajuato where we have not formerly spent much time. A busy time in town, but this was a blissful place that was truly hard to leave.

Pros: We loved our stay. Mali made us feel like we were visiting her home. We had seen many of the sights in Guanajuato, but she was very helpful in giving us more suggestions. She was always asking if she could be of more help. This B & B is an older, charming, well kept house located close to the historical part of the city. The bed was very comfortable and the breakfast was nicely presented in the patio setting. If we visit Guanajuato again, we will stay at Villa Sueño Azul B&B.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: The house is located just on the edge of the hustle and bustle of Centro. An easy, pleasant stroll to jump into the beautiful center of downtown living. A peaceful place to rest and refresh.
Cons: The reality of historic plumbing. It’s not new to me but it’s not what I’d hope for. I prefer flushing everything.

Pros: We stayed at the Villa Sueno Azul for 2 weeks while studying Spanish at the Escuela Falcon. A 15 minute walk to the center enabled us to experience the atmosphere of this neighborhood - small shops. markets, people and families going about their daily lives. We remain so appreciative of Mali who is so knowledgeable about local venues and events. She was interested in our daily efforts at school and helpful in furthering our practice. Mali even arranged for a good, safe driver to take us to San Miguel de Allende and pick us up two days later. We felt well cared for at the Villa Sueno Azul especially important for our lengthy stay.
9,6 Excellent

Breakfast is really good with different hot dishes everyday and breakfast staff is very cordial and efficient! We really loved the vibes surrounding the hotel! Guanajuato is so full of life and La Casona is definitely part of the charm of this lovely city!

9,6 Excellent
Pros: The staff were so lovely and this place had the BEST breakfasts we have had in Mexico so far, cooked for us from scratch everyday.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Had the private room on the rooftop which was awesome. Pretty much a private rooftop to myself. Breakfast was superb - fresh fruit, freshly made fruit juice, coffee and a different cooked item each day. A nice short walk to town. The views are spectacular during the day and night. *Tip* If you have heavy bags/luggage, get dropped off at the top of the stairs (the street west of the hostel)
Cons: Luggage storage was an exorbitant amount - clearly wanting to deter people from leaving luggage here. Luckily I didn't need to leave my luggage, but quite often I do have to during travels.
8,8 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was sensational for a hostel. View from the balcony was magnificent. Being a little bit out from the center was a plus and a minus. It is easy to be trapped in Guanjuato's centre and miss out on it's environs.
Cons: It was pretty quiet at night. Not much interaction with other guests
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Everything was superb. Even the stairs and intermittent wifi wouldn't stop me from staying here again.
Cons: The wifi wasn't always the best
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Loved that it was slightly out of town so the view from all angles was incredible (and I got to work of my tacos climbing the stairs!). Very impressed that the dorms were cleaned everyday and my bed was made. Delish breakfast made by the very skilled cook. Lovely atmosphere and made friends for life at the hostel.
Cons: Nothing!
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Home made delicious breakfast, beautiful decoration , very clean. It’s the best hostal I have stayed at
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Free breakfast (not just a piece of fruit and toast like most hostels, but an actual free breakfast and they did not complain when you asked for seconds). Honestly the breakfast was fantastic and was the best that I have had at any hostel ever (and that is out of probably 20-25 hostels in my life). Great art hung around the building and beautiful balcony overlooking the city with lounge chairs to hang out on Good value Large storage lockers to put your stuff in Free drinking water Very friendly and helpful staff If in Guanajuato again, I definitely plan to stay here. One of the best decorated hostels with the best breakfast ever.
Cons: The stairs up to the hostel are really intense (especially if you have a mildly heavy bag) Not directly in the city center (still a beautiful location nonetheless)
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Everything was perfect: wonderful view, delicious breakfast, lovely service, nice family/landlords. Best place in Guanajuato
8,3 Excellent
Pros: Great view from the balcony and rooftop. Breakfast is amazing!
Cons: Beds not the most comfortable. Not really the hostels fault but there was absolutely no one staying when I was there. Would have liked a bit of company when you plan to live in hostels. Location can be hard to get to after dark as it's like a 15-20 minutes walk to downtown.
3,8 Mediocre
Pros: Great breakfast and staffs in the morning shift are helpful and nice!
Cons: One toliet shared among everyone. On my first night when I arrived late, the toilet is overflown (terribly disgusting !) and obviously other residents did not tell management and by the time I used it, the checkin counter is closed and no one can help. No leaving your bags in check out day and good luck with carrying your bags on the stairs and walk around downtown to find a bag storage! This is the first time ever I had been in a hostel who refuse to store bags for guests on the checkout date; their excuse is that they run the risk guests left drugs in the bags. Apparently they will be ok to have drug dealer staying at the premise as long as they don’t leave their bags on checkout date. Staff at night was unhelpful: he was like: I am just an employee and I cannot do anything to help when guests have any issue and if you don’t like it, you can leave and stay somewhere else.
9,6 Excellent
Pros: The bed is huge and very comfortable. The breakfast is delicious.

Pros: Regarding bed clothing it was definitely not luxury. If it hasn’t been for the jacuzzi this should have been noted as a 3 star hotel.

10,0 Excellent
Pros: The property id beautiful and the staff are very welcoming and accommodating. It was quite but close enough to Centro to get there easily by cab.
Cons: Nothing really.

Pros: The location was very convenient and safe. Close by many places to visit. Room was very spacious, had two balconies with amazing view. Everything was clean.

10,0 Excellent
Pros: The room was really large and the decoration was really authentic Location is excellent, minutes away from everything yet in a quiet area
Cons: The breakfast was really basic (only juice, coffee, one piece of local pastry and a small plate of fruits) - could add some eggs or meat, to make it a complete breakfast

Pros: All the staff were super supportive and kind. Good location to sightseeing.
Cons: Hot water was not available after dinner time. Not sure the reason, but might be due to a limited supply capacity.

4,6 Okay
Cons: One member of staff, Amanda at the desk, was extremely pleasant and efficient. NIght desk clerk not so much. The facility is old and dingy, in need of a face lift if not razing. There was no hot water at the sink in our room. Walls are paper-thin; normal conversation level of guests in the next room kept us awake at night. The Applebees restaurant adjoining the hotel served perfectly horrible margaritas, food was mediocre at best, though a baked potato and and another potato dish rose above the ordinary.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Staff were very friendly and helpful with the language barriers being English speaking. The room was very spacious and comfortable.
Cons: The tub wouldn’t drain completely when showering.
7,1 Good
Pros: Beds were too hard
Cons: One of the ladies on the desk gave us misinformation regarding shuttle service to the airport; said there was service when there wasn’t.
7,1 Good
Pros: The breakfast
Cons: The place is old
3,3 Mediocre
Pros: I did not like any single aspect.
Cons: We could not pay for the night with card when we arrived, we had to wait till next day for the machine to work. No AC, insects in the room. You sell at the store in the lobby noodle soups but there are no utensils to eat with, and after telling me you were bringing some from the apple beas outside, no one came. I had to wait an hour for an actual respond. I had to eat what I bought from you with my hand. Everyone hotel in the planet has breakfast till 10am not 9:30! what is that? The only one who had initiative was the waiter at breakfast. Everyone else was very disappointing.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Is near downtown and nice
10,0 Excellent
Pros: The location
Cons: Nothing
6,7 Good
Cons: Location was at least 10-15 minute drive from the historic downtown depending on traffic. Good location if you don’t mind driving and trying to find parking downtown or taking a taxi. Also the internet become very spotty (goes in and out) during the evening.
8,8 Excellent
Pros: It’s what you expect, nothing fancy but clean, also good service and quiet.
Cons: I think it’s a little to expensive for what it actually is but at least is clean, bathrooms need updating but no a problem.
7,1 Good
Pros: Reception was friendly. Amanda and other staff was very helpful.
Cons: Wanted to bring this to the reception but forgot. The bathroom sink faucet water flow pattern makes surroundings messy. Flow pattern should be fixed for a better hand wash

9,6 Excellent
Pros: Location is the point! 11 min walk to Pipila Monument, 5 min walk to city center, but to the most, this hotel itself has a roof with excellent view!
Cons: I spent 10 min looking for the gate, hopefully there is a sign.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: The style of the decor
Cons: No
10,0 Excellent
Pros: The staff was able to accommodate our needs and helped when we needed them.
Cons: The construction was a little noisy but they were gone each night so that made it good. The hotel was not easy to find.
6,3 Good
Pros: The location, it was clean.
Cons: The staff. Rude and arrogant. Fact the manager charged the credit card used to guarantee the booking despite the fact that this is in breach of the terms and conditions. When I went to pay at the hotel (in accordance with the terms and conditions) I was told that as it was not specifically requested, this hotel will charge the guaranteeing credit card. This increases the cost of this hotel with the conversion fee! Despite addressing this at the time with the manager and pointing this out, I was told it would not be reversed. The attitude was horrible. Much better accommodation options are available in this beautiful town.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Staff was amazing
Cons: Same breakfast everyday
7,5 Good
Pros: The view from the terrace is spectacular. Room was small, but it did have everything needed for a comfortable stay. Everything is very clean and well maintained. The location is just a few minutes away from the city main plaza.
Cons: Although this Hotel its listed as "Pay at the propriety", my credit card was charge in full before my arrival and they weren't able to cancel it. I experienced some issues with the hot water in my shower.
9,6 Excellent
Pros: If you are not in excellent condition physically, you might reconsider staying here.. It is a very long hike up steep stone stairs to reach hotel, especially when carrying bags. But the View from your room is definitely worth the hike! No parking available, private parking separate fee. Don’t bring a rental car, rent a taxi or shuttle from airport..
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Location, location, location! It is centrally located to everything this beautiful city has to offer! The attention to detail is incredible and the views from the our balcony were breath taking....
8,8 Excellent
Pros: Extraordinary view from the room and the terrace. Authentic furnishings and tastefully renovated
Cons: When we checked out, there was no assistance available to transfer our luggage down the hill to the taxi point. Note: There is no laundry facility.

Pros: Everything! The location ist fantastic, try to get a hotel like this with great views of the city, it's more than worth the money! Our room was beautiful, big bathroom, lovely balcony. Another great feature : the fantastic, delicious breakfast!

9,2 Excellent
Pros: The staff is great and friendly! Super cordially and accommodating to our needs.
Cons: It didn’t have an elevator however the staff takes the luggage up & down.
9,2 Excellent
Pros: The building is very traditional and charming. Location is very central, opposite a beautiful church. Very helpful and friendly staff. Clean and comfortable room.
Cons: WiFi connection is quite weak. Due to the central location is a bit noisy at nights (bars nearby) also the bells from the church ringing during night. The hotel provides earplugs thankfully :)
10,0 Excellent
Pros: The location is great! Everything is walking distance!
Cons: The room was warm. The fan was not helpful.
9,6 Excellent
Pros: Closeness tio everything. Attentions from front desk personnel. Excellent
Cons: Maybe. The. Bed. Little hard.
6,7 Good
Pros: The location is the best thing this hotel has going for it - it couldn't be more central! Though some of the rooms face the street right in front of the cathedral with very loud bells which ring on the hour.
Cons: The continental breakfast was very disappointing (serving Bimbo bread which is not a good thing in my book). They should be serving a well-made breakfast with cooked options (included) like in all other hotels that I have stayed at in Mexico in this price range. I also didn't like that the room number and the name of the hotel were on the key cards. This is not a safe or professional way of operating. There is no lobby only a small reception area and no wifi in the rooms. The duvets were thin and worn out.
8,3 Excellent
Pros: Excellent location. Clean room. Friendly staff.
Cons: No parking on premises. It took a good 15 to 20 minutes drive to a different hotel parking lot. Plus $100 pesos taxi ride back to hotel. No elevators. We stayed on the 3rd Floor.
8,2 Excellent
Pros: The complementary waters and the breakfast.
Cons: The internet was incredibly slow.

7,1 Good
Pros: Location was great! Less than 5 minutes walking from the cathedral and other interesting venues. There is also a parking lot two minutes from the hotel. I liked the fact that the property sent an email explaining how to get to the hotel. Clear instructions, easy to find!
Cons: Main door had a big glass without courtain so room won't be dark for a good night of sleep. There was noise till late at night from the other rooms. Can't take more than a 2 minutes shower as water will get out and inundate the bathroom.
5,8 Okay
Pros: Plenty of space and excellent view. Close to most of the main events at the Cervantino Festival in Guanajuato.
Cons: The room we booked was on a 3rd floor, with tall steps. No elevator. It was an ordeal to get to our room and down for the first 2 nights, after I fell walking on the uneven streets with frequent steps, hurting my knee, hand and one of my ribs. After that, they were able to switch us to a much smaller room on the first floor, with no external window - but kept the exorbitantly high price unchanged. No breakfast was included.
8,3 Excellent
Pros: The location was great - few steps from Servantes Theatre, couple of minutes from Union Square. The room in the hotel small and simple just to spend night but in the town like Guanajuato it’s enough.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: The space was perfect. The view incredible. And it was super close to town. Great amenities too.

Pros: Location
Cons: It’s ver difficult to find this place
8,3 Excellent
Pros: Cute place, 3 story inner courtyard that you enter through a tiny gelato store Super location- charming. Very nice, helpful staff.
Cons: Was there on a cold night- we slept in our down jackets! I have never been so cold!
7,5 Good
Pros: Good environment Clean Free cooked breakfast Good location
Cons: Room #5 Bed not comfortable, maybe for one person, sharing bathroom not convenient, would have liked a heater when taking a shower!
7,1 Good
Pros: Staff were amazingly helpful.
Cons: Overpriced- next to a loud bar.
4,2 Okay
Pros: Extremely close to centro historico. Staff were friendly and helpful, though did not speak any English as advertised. Room (double with en-suite) was huge. Right next to a 24h supermarket, brilliant cafe and a good falafel place. Cheap. Good choice for those looking literally for a safe warm bed to crash in after a day of exploring/cervantino.
Cons: Staff didn't speak English as advertised. Charged us an unadvertised fee for using a credit card ($200 pesos), which we have disputed with booking.com. As many other reviews say, it's next to a reggae nightclub with very little soundproofing, which runs to 3-5am every night of the week. Speaking of soundproofing, our patio doors didn't close fully, and the room had those plastic shutters instead of windows - so even when the club finishes, you've still got the barking dogs and early-riser housekeeping to keep you up. Youve got to enter/exit through a cramped ice cream shop.
5,4 Okay
Pros: Great location -close to wonderful cafes and the jardin
Cons: The bizarre entrance through an ice cream shop! The shop door is closed until early afternoon so require a key to enter. I understand this place is more set up for students of the affiliated language school - there are better options for tourists. I have used booking.com many times and this is the first time I have been unhappy with the booking process. Note to users, check your confirmation e-mail immediately to make sure the price is what you thought you were booking. My bad, I didn't and realized two days later that we were booked into a huge suite (not required) at twice the price. And to top it off the front desk reception wanted to charge even more! That was resolved - but not until I was able to pull up the reservation on my phone.

Pros: Front desk staff especially Judith and Alicia were great! Nice addition top your hotel
Cons: The noise until wee hours in the morning. Wow
10,0 Excellent
Pros: The staff is very accommodating, friendly and generous with our broken Spanish. The room was very spacious and the bed comfortable. We can’t wait to come back to Guanajuato and Posada Santa Fe.
9,2 Excellent
Pros: In the heart of Guanajuato main plaza. You can't ask for better than this location!
Cons: Because it's in the main plaza of the city where it's a default meeting point for the "callejonadas" and all touristic tours, there's a bit of noise till late in the afternoon...
8,8 Excellent
Pros: We had a King Suite. Room was very nice, spacious and comfortable. Very clean. Excellent, decoratively tiled bathroom. No problems with water or plumbing. Interior public spaces beautiful. It had once been an embassy building. Central location superior, opening to a garden plaza and opportunity for shaded outdoor restaurant service, watch the pedestrians, enjoy ever-present musicians. Also very close walking distances to the University, Teatro Juarez, churches, museums, etc. Desk staff was courteous and helpful, helped us in English.
Cons: No air conditioning (late May), but that is not unusual in the older hotels in the historic district. We managed with large standing fan, ceiling fan, and sliding door to small balcony opened to let in cooler air at night. Our room opened to a high-traffic corner with a lot of morning truck and bus traffic, also very close cathedral bells, so was noisy in the morning, and would recommend sleeping ear plugs in future. Some of the food could have been better, but we enjoyed fresh orange juice and sliced fruit in the morning, had a good steak one evening. (Mostly ate at events associated with our stay.)
9,6 Excellent
Pros: The authentic Mexician area and the people were very friendly. It felt so very safe int he area.
7,9 Good
Pros: Good location in center city.clean hotel
10,0 Excellent
Pros: The staff was very friendly, the food was delicious & the location of the property is excellent! Right in the center of the city! Everything is walking distance!
Cons: No complaints... everything was great!
7,9 Good
Pros: The room was quiet with windows closed and the air-conditioner running.
Cons: Our dinner at the hotel's restaurant was a disappointment. We ordered two glasses of the house red wine. They were expensive by Mexico's standards. When the wine arrived it was ice cold. The waiter did not seem to share our consternation. He came back to the table (at the end of the meal) and announced that all they had was cold wine.
8,5 Excellent
Pros: Location (main plaza) Ambiance
Cons: Some rooms are small
10,0 Excellent
Pros: This hotel is beautiful! We booked through booking.com and had no problems checking in. We do not speak Spanish but there was always someone at the front desk area to help us, like call and make dinner reservations. We enjoyed walking around the hotel admiring the decor. The rooftop terrace has a gorgeous view of the city. The hot tub up there is not working but we knew this based on other reviews. Our room was basic but it was exactly what we expected and we hardly spent any time in there. The location is amazing. We ate delicious, filling breakfast for free every morning overlooking the Jardin de la Union. At night, the Jardin area was full of nightlife, not quiet but we loved it! Everything was in walking distance.
Cons: Since I read a ton of reviews before I book this place, I knew what to expect from this hotel and it met my expectations. There was nothing that I didn't like.
8,3 Excellent
Pros: Best of all, they have parking in the hotel, no other hotel in downtown has, so that’s s plus, it’s a historical building old but beautiful, ant the location it’s unbeatable.
Cons: You can hear a lot of noice in the street in the night, and in the morning the bells from de church that’s behind, but after all you are in the middle of everything so it is expected, i do recommend this hotel, location location location

Cons: Not a business hotel
7,1 Good
Pros: The facade and exterior are beautiful and it's nice to dine by the pool.
Cons: The reviews are accurate they absolutely need to refresh the furniture. And the towels are old so it's kind of like a hostel in what used to be one heck of a fancy hotel.
7,9 Good
Pros: Location and decor
Cons: The martess was horrible and The tv is outdated
7,4 Good
Pros: Close to Parque de las Ranas, where they had a stage and a giant screen for the Festival Cervantino.
Cons: The bed I slept on was worthless. It would squeak anytime I barely moved. I could not get a good night's sleep. Also, I was never able to get wi-fi signal, even though I stayed on the second floor.
7,5 Good
Pros: The well preserved furnitures.
Cons: Sink was clogged.
7,5 Good
Pros: Location. Avoids the confusing underground tunnels to drive. Park car at hotel and utilize the inexpensive, prompt taxis to and from the historical center.
Cons: Dined in the restaurant. Had the feeling the waiters may have been tense due to manager? Not the usual welcoming mood, but the service was good. The breakfast buffet was pleasing....Have been here before, but not weekends. We staid until a Monday. It 'felt' like management turned off the hot water Monday morn when most guests had checked out Sunday. The TV suddenly stopped working too. We were there 3 nights and the TV worked only the first and the telephone to the desk was not working either...Bed comfort? Mattress too hard. Hip and back sore in the morn.
6,3 Good
Pros: Hotel looks nice and traditional. Staff is kind and helpful.
Cons: Worst wifi on earth. No fridge.

Pros: General atmosphere, staff friendly and helpful, interesting, attractive architecture and interior design.
Cons: Would have liked an in-room mini-fridge; and having the restaurant/bar open for lunch, dinner. It is only used for breakfast.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: This is a lovely hotel with a very friendly, kind and helpful staff that continually went above and beyond for us, answering questions, giving directions, simply making our days there very pleasant. The location could not be better, right in the heart of the historic center of Guanajuato and close to lots of great restaurants, bars, places of interest. The hotel building and rooms are charming, with a lovely terrace on the fourth level to relax from a busy day of sightseeing. I would definitely stay here again...I wouldn't consider staying anywhere else in Guanajuato.

Pros: The building, our room, location were all great. Buffet breakfast was excellent. Staff was helpful (at check-in we were allowed to chose from two rooms). Common areas (salas) were very pleasant. Endless architectural "finds" around every corner!

10,0 Excellent
Pros: I liked how close to it was to all the attractions! Very clean room. Very friendly and great staff.
Cons: The bed was a little noisy! And we had breakfast it was ok but not great! And lots of stairs ! No elevator!
9,6 Excellent
Pros: Excellent location, wonderful staff, comfortable rooms. All in all, a great place to stay in Guanajuato.
9,6 Excellent
Pros: Location is perfect for this little town. Breakfast is excellent consider the price. Room not so outstanding but good enough.
Cons: Little noise since rooms are within the corridor.
7,4 Good
Pros: The staff did its best to help with room issues, and we appreciated that. The terrace was really pretty.
Cons: The breakfast was really bad. Our toilet was broken and we had to take off the lid and pull up the chain in order to flush. Wifi was spotty at best. The room could have benefited from a ceiling fan as there was no air conditioning (which I don't really care about) and the standing fan was inadequate against the heat. The terrace was lovely but hot, and smelled of detergent. There was no drink service, no ice, or refrigeration, so while we were invited to take our own beverages upstairs, that was not a realistic option.

Pros: Located in the hearth of Guanajuato, besides Juarez Theater. Walking distance from everything. Clean rooms. They have an Italian Restaurant in the second floor which is good.
Cons: At night is noisy area, ask for a room as deep in the hotel as you can, away from the front street. We didn't have a problem with the noise because we stay up late at the bars, but if you go to bed early can be a problem. Get a pair of ear plugs just in case.
