Pros: The hostel is very good. According to what you can expect in Brazil it’s a good value for money. Our chalé was very comfortable and enough space for three of us! I liked the amount things to do for our 4 years daughter. She enjoyed a lot. We spend lovely time in the swimming pool. Also recommend to have a dinner there. Much better prices then outside in Gramado and quality very good. What a pity they don’t serve lunch there.

Cons: 1. Two times in the breakfast I got long hair in my food. It’s really unpleasant. In the bed was as well the time we got in. Out of this cleaning was very good. But in the kitchen they really need to look after this things. 2. It’s very close to city center. But to get there need to climb the hill, so we couldn’t do it with a kid every time. We were using a car always. But it’s not much a problem anyway. 3. Swimming pool could be a bit cleaner.

Pros: This 50-year-old little gem was probably the fanciest hotel in town back when it was built, and it was a natural choice for us as we were looking for a place to spend a couple of days in Gramado. Located only one or two blocks from everywhere you want to visit (restaurants, shops, you name it), yet tucked away in a quiet cul-de-sac that naturally limits traffic, this was the ideal spot for walking about town at leisure. When the shopping bags eventually piled up, we simply walked back to the hotel, enjoyed their complementary afternoon coffee and cakes, and then hit the town again. The staff was very friendly and readily provided us with all information we could possibly need about sights and places to visit. Hotel das Hortênsias has been totally renovated but has managed to retain the charming ambience and personal touch that you simply won't get in a run-of-the-mill hotel chain. Case in point: there's an in-house siamese cat that lazily lounges on her favorite armchair in the entrance hall. One morning she spontaneously jumped on my lap as I was reading the newspaper.

Cons: Not really a complaint, as we were lucky to get a room with a view, but you would be well advised to insist on this when making your reservation. In spite of being built on top of a sloping terrain, the property now has mostly been surrounded by taller residential buildings, so it would be a good idea to make a specific reservation for the few rooms that do provide an unimpeded view.

Cons: if you're in the mood to be treated like a second-class citizen, go for it. as soon as I walked in they asked me my name and told me I shouldn't check-in there, in the main reception, but at another reception in a building in the back. hm, excuse me? there's two separate buildings. the main one seems nice. too bad I wasn't supposed to be there. So I went all the way to the back and found a sad excuse of a second reception. And then was placed in a room on the ground floor, which I've never seen before. seriously, get rid of this awful separation of receptions. this is absurd.

Cons: We booked a superior luxury room but weren't provided with this room. We then had problems with the facilities in the room as soon as we checked in and there wasn't a manager on site to deal with the matter.

Cons: They did not have heat in the rooms and the guy in the reception was trying to explain us that is automatic heating and can not do anything. After two days we got upset cause they did not have even hot water the heat somehow was for 24 h and the hot water as well. Also they were hiding amenities such us shower gel for no reason and we find out in the last day. They could not provide us even slippers. Also they did not have a safe box inside the rooms. In conclusion this is a 2 to 3 star hotel and the only positive I can say is the brazilian guy in the reception; not the one with the bear, who.was friendly and helpful and of course the location that is walking distance from the center. However there are many hotels in the center that you can look for. Definitely not recommended.

Pros: Loved the location!!! Some of the staff were friendly. Always willing to share if we needed assistance for luggage to and from our room! Thank you!!! I also enjoyed the fact that so much was available in such a small hotel. Indoor Swimming pool, a small library and a very small rec area!

Cons: No elevators and we were on the 4th floor (staff was very helpful). My husband got sick from the breakfast the first day (threw up immediately during our breakfast. We think it was the fruit that was not fresh...it looks like it had been sitting for a few days.

Cons: My room was with several issues, the floor was broken, some wires appeared in the bathroom with a electrical risk. The staff took a time to propose a solution for the room. My room should not be available for any customer. I hated it! They need to be more profissional the staff!

Cons: There was a long line every morning making the guests to wait at least 30 minutes to enter the breakfast room. This is beyond unacceptable for a hotel in this category. There was nothing the staff could do to solve the problem. I had to eat breakfast at a bakery store nearby. Too bad, Sky Hotel. The rooms were kind of simple for the price charged.
