George Town hotels near Kuan Ying Teng Temple

Pros: The room is very nice specially the view and the breeze!

Cons: The smell of the bath-soap , shampoo.

Pros: Lovely room. Very good breakfast.

Cons: Felt like 2 different hotels, depending which wing you were in. Very snooty bar manager.

Pros: We enjoyed staying in the heritage part of the hotel. It really did feel like going back in time. The suite was very comfortable with everything you'd expect from a hotel of this level. The staff in front of house were extremely helpful.

Cons: The pool in the heritage section was closed for our entire stay. However the pool at the victory wing was pleasant and not too far to walk. The gym in the heritage section has little in the way of cardio equipment but again, there is a full range in the gym in the other section.

Pros: The total ambience and coastlines and settings were immaculate !

Pros: The new renovations to the Heritage Wing are beautiful. Room furnishings are high standard. Lovely pool. Food very good. My husband and I normally rush out to explore the neighbourhood in a new city/country but in the case of the E&O we were very happy to spend a lot of our time in the hotel enjoying the 'creature comforts'.

Cons: 1). Our room wasn't ready at check-in time. 2). It is a little far away from the centre of the old town and even though we are very fit and walk a lot at home, it was difficult to walk as far as normal because of the heat.

Pros: Big suite with great Seaview. The balconies are added bonus.

Cons: More Electric sockets could have been more conveniently located near the bed. I have to charge my phone and iPad in the living room.

Pros: This must be close to one of the best hotels I have stayed at, and that was not in the Heritage Wing which had not yet reopened. Couldn't fault anything and the price was sensible. I was last here 30 years ago and it is definitely better.

Pros: Breakfast is one of best reasons to stay there, as fresh made ckt and roti canai, all fresh squeezed fruit juices imaginable; the only downside is no pork, so no bacon, no sausages, etc, no deep fried pork lard in noodle dishes....

Cons: really nothing, tho I think quality of dinner buffet might be slipping. Lots of dried out meats

Cons: Nespresso machine had wrong capsules so spent ages trying to fix it when one got stuck.

Pros: Excellent staff, very helpful, cheerful and friendly. Excellent service and room cleaning, turning down the bed, little notes. Excellent food, huge variety, especially free breakfast. Excellent onsite Emporium store with goodies to buy.

Pros: Clean, very friendly. Good parking. Pool is good but they haven’t done much with the space. Room was clean, shower was good. Beds were comfy. Staff were very helpful and friendly.

Cons: Was slightly tricky to find as the reception is round the back and by the car park. Feels a bit like the hotel is backwards. It feels slightly old, not run down but not very new. They don’t do a lot with the space. Basically perfectly lovely hotel to stay in but I wouldn’t spend time there. Was fine for us because we wandered round Penang, but I wouldn’t go there to hang out by the pool!

Cons: My room which is City View is a view that's completely blocked by a big building.

Cons: Not much to not to like. Anyway, my other room for my guest was having problems. They dont suggest to change rooms. you should put some drinks in the fridge. I have to get the drinking water outside the room. The hot/cold water available thou. thankGod. The towel is small for a foreigners/guest.

Pros: Location is near the town. Privacy. Room are OK but small. Not space to pray together. The bed and pillows are comfy. The service is good plus very fast the maintainers came to repair the shower in the bathroom.

Cons: The aircond was not working well. Cannot control the temperature. Too cold. The shower was not hot enough. The room was small. Only suit for twin beds.

Pros: Excellent breakfast spread and friendly staffs. Room were clean. Love the idea of having a water dispenser along the corridors in order to avoid waste and plastic bottles.

Cons: We happened to have checked in on a day where the hotel is having an air condo maintenance. Our room were stuffy and hot for the first 3 hours after we have checked in.

Cons: The room didn't have an extra desk. Would have a preferred the Heritage view of Penang Island instead of just seaside view as this was requested in the initial request of booking.

Pros: The staff were helpful. When I checked in the room I was given had a strong smell of bleach emanating from the bathroom. I requested a room change and was immediately moved to another room. I also accidentally locked myself out once and reception provided me a new key card free of charge to once again access my room. This is a nice hotel that is quite central and close to the touristy part of Georgetown as well as the Esplanade in the north. Breakfast was quite a spread.

Cons: The room was unusually large! There was an open space in there that could have fitted an entire queen bed. That was very, very unusual. The bathroom was a bit dated too (but clean) and lacked any form of a working air vent as far as I could tell.

Pros: Decent location (although no pedestrian crossing to walk into old town so a bit dangerous), rooftop bar nice

Cons: On my first night, not only was the bathtub drain broken but after the maintenance guy left, I took a shower and the entire shower head just fell off the wall as it was missing screws. Called maintenance guy again and as he entered the room, the entire door lock just FELL OFF. This place is completely falling apart and had its hay day in the 90s and is pretty sad now. My bathroom was covered with tiny black curly hairs (disgusting) and actual brown liquid stains on the toilet. After a few hours, staff moved me into a different room but the air con didn’t work properly and it was absolutely freezing. I asked housekeeping for an extra blanket and they said they don’t have any (a hotel of this size too?!!). For 3 days in a row I asked for an extra blanket with responses of “we’ll call you back” or “housekeeping will bring one to your room” which never happened. I only got a blanket after standing in the lobby and making a big deal. Ridiculous. This hotel stay ruined our long awaited Christmas holiday. The pool was tiny and constantly crowded with kids and there was no lounging area or work space. No chairs in lobby. Housekeeping staff just didn’t clean our room one of the days even though we had the sign on our door. We I asked about it at the end of the day they just said “we’re busy”. Really bad — I wouldn’t stay here again.

Pros: The location was excellent and check in was smooth as I only checked in after 11pm.

Cons: Checked in room and found the room was extremely dusty and dirty. Bathroom blinds was broken. Requested to change room but it only took place the next day. Had to wait for omelette for 30 minutes. Write a complaint to GM secretary but till today, there wasn't any COURTESY REPLY!

Cons: Everything about this hotel is worst. Management is worst. Cleanliness is terrible. 5pm also can't release the room to the customer. Bathtub very dirty. Beds dint clean ended up bed bug bites. Very terrible hotel.

Cons: If not the most dirty hotel I've been in my life. When i asked to be cleaned and to change room, they had as answer, every room is the same. The hotel is in really bad state, as you get in the lift upto your room, it smell really bad. The breakfast is made mainly for local, don't be surprise. Also, the atmosphere of the room was really bad, like a very bad vibe (if not haunted). Dont talk about the pool, not maintained at all.

Pros: It is overall a nice stay, it is very convenient to go to lots of places for good food. The room is big and has the living hall & bedroom separated with a sliding door. It has 2 TVs, one in the room and one in the living hall which is great coz me and my friend get to watch the program we each wanted. There's jacuzzi in the room, shower stall and the toilet is separated too. There's also another toilet near the door entrance of the room so..again there's no need to wait for the use of toilet incase both are in need to use the toilet. The receptionist & staffs are all very friendly so my stay with them are pretty pleasant. Request for high floor, near lift and non smoking room were all met and the room given was seaview which was really nice.

Cons: A slight hiccup with the booking as their record seems to have captured a wrong rate i paid, fortunately i had printed the payment page together with the booking confirmation for reference so they did not detain me too long on the issue. ( seems the record in their system reflects that i only paid 2 nights instead of 3) Inconvenience with the parking as we have to get the ticket endorsed everytime before we exit and should we return after midnight, we'll have to get the ticket from the reception before we can exit the carpark the next day. It's just a small matter but I'm kinda fussy about it.... the blanket is really not very presentable. It looks a little worn & old, and it looks like the inner layer of my blanket back home. ( the kind where the blanket inner layer can be taken out for dry cleaning from the outer cover/casing)
