I really liked the style of the hotel and its design. Well thought through (also in the rooms). The reception was accommodating and was able to help easily with all requests (Taxi, Tips,...). Rooms were big and beds were comfy. The location is a big plus as we were able to walk around Georgetown easily. Overall it was a very good experience.
The surroundings are a bit noisy as there was a Bar just outside our room on the opposite side of the yard. The breakfast is a la carte which is perfectly fine but we were only allowed to have one dish/hot drink from the menu each time. This is quite strange for me considering the room charge/ details and we never experienced that before. So in the end combing sweet and hearty or tea and coffee always results in extra cost.
Everything- location, facilities, ambience, staff. All absolutely fantastic.
The bar was good. Breakfast was ok but not memorable. The hotel style is interesting albeit somewhat eccentric. The room was efficiently made up when we were at breakfast. Umbrellas very handy- could not have done without these Receiving the list of restaurants on arrival was a nice touch.
To answer those two specific examples questions does not cast good light on the hotel. The croissant for breakfast was reheated/stale. The bed was extremely uncomfortable - after two nights of extreme discomfort and anti inflammatory medication, we asked the front desk for assistance. The extra comforter made it more bearable. The bed is the most basic thing to get right. The shower had lukewarm water- part of the problem is the height of the shower head- the water probably drops several degrees in the time it takes to tumble down. The bathroom floor is half flooded when turning on the tap- and then the hose nozzle is too far from the shower recess. Once the shower is over the floor is so wet it is not possible to walk over to hang up towels. When we used the downstairs toilet for the rest of the day we needed to avoid the water pooling- my wife nearly slipped over in this mess. It would be great to have an iron and ironing board in the room. Generally speaking very few staff members engaged. It was a nice gesture to be asked if we wanted a pot of green tea when we were awaiting our taxi to leave. Frankly it would have been so nice to have been offered this during our stay - no one was forthcoming or made an effort to offer us something like this. We would have happily paid for this.
Amazing place and great people there ! Especially June ! What a Star !
The location is extremely convenient- in the heart of Georgetown. Breakfast is very pleasant
Some of the rooms face a school so can get a little noisy, early in the morning The room is quite chinese - meaning the furniture is not so comfortable, other than the two arm chairs- but if you are looking for the Perankan lifestyle then it is ok for a few days
