The location was great, right outside the national park. When we ordered food from the on-site restaurant to take back to our room on Sunday the bartender was both helpful and courteous and we had the Crispy Cob Salad and Green Bean appetizer which were delicious and filling. The outdoor fire pit was wonderful. The fitness center and salt water pool were nice and clean. It's a non-smoking hotel and when a gentlemen was smoking outside near the fire pit, the front desk was informed and they immediately went out and spoke to him, and asked him to stop.
We liked the food so much we decided to order the same on Monday, however a different bartender was on duty and she was quite surly and acted like we were a bother. We still placed the order and the food was again delicious. On Tuesday, while sitting next to the fire-pit we thought we might try some entrees and take those back to our room. The restaurant was scheduled to open at 5 pm, So my wife went inside to order, she stood there waiting alone for the bartender to arrive. About fifteen minutes later another customer sits down at the bar. Another minute or two passes and the bartender finally arrives and ignores my wife and begins to take the other customers order. My wife interjects and says she was there first, the bartender ignores her and waits on the other customer. Needless to say we did not place our order.
Loved the location, very easy to get around Gatlinburg, a pretty easy drive to pigeon forge, just don’t go at a high traffic time. And the breakfast was actually great! Most hotels are relatively mediocre in their breakfast but this one was amazing! Very comfy bed and there wasn’t too much or too less blanket and pillows. It was perfect.
The ONLY thing I did not like was that we got one of the weird rooms with the door between the other room next to you, so we could hear our neighbors. Otherwise, this hotel has been great.
The welcome from the staff when we checked in on 23rd was fabulous. Good location. Water available when restaurant shut.
The guy on breakfast duty on day 3 was grumpy and unhelpful. Bar shutting at 10pm unhelpful.
Beautiful hotel - everything was perfect.
Hotel was clean.
Motion sensors on air conditioner. On the first night, I woke up in the middle of the night sweating profusely - only to find that the air conditioner fan was OFF when I had set it to ON in order to keep air circulating and to keep room at comfortable temperature while sleeping (I always sleep with fan on). I went downstairs to ask for portable fan & the lady at the front desk told me that they did not have any. I told her my issue & that is when she informed me that the air conditioner works on a motion sensor and when there is no motion detected (i.e. when you're sleeping) the air conditioner will shut off no matter what you have the thermostat set for. I also informed her that at some point the thermostat stopped working, as I could no longer see anything displayed on the screen. All she could offer me was a new pair of sheets & to put a maintenance request in for the next day in regards to the thermostat. Needless to say, it was a pretty sleepless night as I was very uncomfortable from being so hot. This is my first encounter with motion-sensed air conditioners & I was not pleased. I understand the concept of saving energy, but it shouldn't be at the comfort expense of the customer.
