still work being carried out
staff were exceptional nothing was to much trouble. booking cabs etc. room very comfortable bath and shower very good great pressure and hot water. facilities as in bar area were good. the grounds are lovely and worth a walk or a run we would book again if in the area
the bar prices were to high. no need for it. we come from London so expect high prices for food and drink but these were a joke. breakfast was no way worth the money £15.00 per head over 3 days would have been £90.00. we had day one. just not worth the money. no option to have a simpler breakfast say just pay for toast and cereal. we went into Nantwitch had a slap up breakfast £6 each. would of liked a gym or a pool to be honest but thats just me. went for a run in superb grounds
Spacious room and great food in the resturant for breakfast and dinner
Work was being conducted on the ground floor and was a little loud, it wasnt too early or too late so can't blame them wanting to upgrade the hotel rooms.
The room was lovely The breakfast was really good with a great selection, staff were very friendly we had a lovely time.
Bit chilly in the bar and other areas,my room was OK tho
The hotel is currently going through a refurbishment so was a little chaotic. The reception staff were brilliant as were the rooms.
Unfortunately the restaurant was having some problems and I felt that the food was not up to standard. I have stayed here before and the restaurant and the food were brilliant. But on this recent visit there was something truly lacking both on service and the quality of the food. The wait was very extensive between courses they were obviously having major issues in the kitchen !! There was one member of staff who was giving her all, but unfortunately the remaining staff were not really singing off the same sheet. We did try The Claret Jug on our second night and again the staff were not clued up on either the drinks or the food. We were told when we asked for the Menu " We have no bar snacks and only have burgers" when in fact there were people at adjoining tables eating off of a more extensive menu. It lead e to feel that the staff on duty were not really interested in the client and did not really want to be there, which is a shame as the drinks are not cheap !! I also felt that at £ 15.95 a head for breakfast this was a little excessive, having seen what was on offer I declined this facility. As it stands at present although the hotel is lovely part of booking this particular hotel was to gain the whole experience of eating and drinking on site ( as it is a few miles out in the country). Needless after our initial dining experience we did in fact venture out and eat in a village 5 miles away. I have visited this hotel on many occasions and have never had to give such a negative feed back !! If these issues are not resolved soon, I feel after overhearing other guests comments that this will fast lose clients to nearby hotels, I shall not be returning in the foreseeable future, which is such a shame as before it changed hands it was a brilliant venue. My theory is that if you are spending money in a restaurant ( and it was not particularly cheap !!) you would like to feel that you are important enough to warrant both a reasonable standard.
