A beautiful grand hotel with a lovely breakfast, no valet. The room had a strong persistent smell of mold and I couldn’t sleep as I’m allergic to mold so requested to be moved. A lesser room in a newer wing was available the next morning and we packed up our belongings and were moved by cleaning staff whilst away for the day. Pros (+) Beautiful 4-5 stars! Comfort and extremely roomy.
Cons (-) No fault of theirs but to walk from train it’s best to be part mountain goat. Hotel is on a big hill ( and I mean big) overlooking town. We taxied the luggage up the hill with as many passengers as would fit and the rest of us hiked up the road. Very steep!

Pros (+) Restaurant was very good. Walking distance from some shops and eaterys. Bed was comfortable.
Cons (-) No air conditioning. The lift was being worked on so we had to take the stairs with several bags.

Pros (+) Immaculately clean old world hotel (Victorian building). Quiet rooms. Reasonably priced restaurant with gastro pub vibe.
Cons (-) Elevators could do with some sprucing up and the jolt with which they stop on reaching your floor can easily raise an eyebrow. Food is only available at set times in the restaurant. I had a late start on Sunday morning and there was little available.
