The rental car smelled very strongly of masked cigarettes once we turned the AC on after leaving the pick up location. I placed numerous calls to other Hertz locations along the route of our trip to inquire about switching the car but was told there wasn’t any inventory. I contacted Hertz customer service (case #0210163868) to explain the issue in hopes of some sort of remediation but was basically told there was nothing they could do. Very disappointing experience with Hertz, I’ll be exploring other rental car options in the future.

We booked at the wrong Hertz instead directly at the airport. The wrong hertz was unable to stay open for us to get our rental & the airport had not one car to give us. Was not happy. Had to book with another car rental place at double the cost. Hertz was not accommodating. We’d have taken whatever could’ve fit our family, we weren’t picky. This also happened to a 2nd family also in line behind us. None of us could make it to the Hertz outside the airport via taxi because the line was about 60+ people. You’d have thought since there were 2 families coming to the Hertz outside the airport they may try to stay open a little longer but no. Still need a refund too.

The pick-up and drop-off was very fast and easy. No problems for drivers under 21, just pay the young driver fee and you're good to go. No problems with other countries' driver's licenses (Germany).

I was unaware that I had booked a vehicle off-site from CLT. The Kayak booking confirmation did not specify that it was OFF-SITE. I'm not familiar with the Charlotte area, nor do I know the address to the airport rental car facility. Therefore, I had no idea it wasn't AT the airport. Kayak needs to do a better job of letting their customers know that certain facilities are not at the airport. The rental facility was approximately 20 minutes away, which resulted in a $25 Uber ride to the off-site location. I was only in town for the day, so I was on a tight schedule. The representative at the Hertz location was very polite, helpful and accommodating. I even received a special discount for having to pay for an Uber. I was allowed to drop the car back off at the airport, which helped me on a tight time-table. The vehicle itself was generally disheveled. There was a lot of dust and grime on the interior. Crumbs in crevices, a mask and a dirty napkin in the center console, food and empty water bottles under the passenger seat. The passenger seat was also heavily stained by coffee and potentially bodily fluids. Disgusting. Good MPG on the vehicle (Hyundai Tuscon), but lackluster performance and driving excitement.

Original quoted price from Kayak was severely under what the actual cost of the rental was. Got a quote for $60-$70, ended up being $260. I'm not sure if I trust Kayak for reserving rental cars anymore.

I expected to pick up car rental at airport only to find out it was a hertz 20 mins. away. Took taxi to hertz there $52 only to find location closed at noon on Saturday! Very very disappointed. If there is anything I can do to get money back it would greatly be appreciated. Thank you Joy 516-317-5813

We reserved a car…we were given a pick-up truck. The truck cab smelled like smoke , it was dirty and the “no washer fluid” light flashed the first time we started the truck. It was the worst experience I have ever had renting a car!

The agent was very keen on upselling the coverage. She claimed she also has our brand of insurance and it wouldn’t cover our rental. We’ve checked and it absolutely does. Left us with a bad taste. And the car wasn’t full when we got in.

Interior of car very dirty. Charging station doesn't work so I couldn't charge my phone. Steering wheel locked once. Car ran well.
