Be careful where you park
When I arrived at 12, my room was not going to be ready until 2. The staff did not offer to help me with luggage, and did not tell me there was protected parking under the hotel. I had a very large bag, and because there is no elevator I opted to leave it in my car... BAD idea. The first night my back window was smashed in and my whole bag was stolen. I feel if the staff had been more helpful, my car and luggage would have been secure.

The location of the hotel is amazing - we felt safe and happy to go out in the local area at night to the nearby bars and restaurants. The staff were very friendly and helpful and we liked that free tea and coffee was provided all day long, even though there was no kettle in the room. Rooms were very basic, but the value for money was fantastic so no complaints there! We only used the swimming pool once - it's small and freezing but nice for relaxing on a sunny day.
Not really the fault of the hotel but other guests tended to be very noisy - we were woken up most nights at midnight-ish by people coming home and again between 6 - 7am when people got up...I think the walls are pretty thin! The internet was very expensive - far cheaper to head onto Kloof Street to the internet cafe.
