Lovely place, stunning rural location, with great hosts and staff. Beautiful room with beamed ceiling. Good quality toiletries in the ensuite shower room, plenty of towels, and lots of tea and coffee on the welcome tray. Great value for money.
Only negative was the stairs up to the room were very narrow and steep, with a handrail only on one side. Not suitable for people with health problems, but was the last vacant room remaining. The staff were very kind and helpful, and carried my luggage up and down the stairs, an old world courtesy so often absent nowadays!
The lady was good, we arrived just before last orders and she was accommodating. Location was excellent for us as we were crossing to France
Shower was terrible. No breakfast before 8am unless we wanted cereal and toast left for us. One of us is a coeliac so this wasn’t suitable, we left at 7.15am as we had to get breakfast elsewhere, however no refund/offer of refund for breakfasts.
Although the inn is a lovely historic building and the staff very helpful I think I would have to add a word of warning. I had booked to stay during the Summer and the large upstairs room I was to stay in had only a very small window, the room was so hot, even when the outside temperature had cooled and despite using the supplied fan the heat in the room became unbearable. No other rooms were available so in order to get a good nights sleep I decided to move to The Rose and Crown across the road where I enjoyed a comfortable nights sleep, sadly my request for a refund due to the uncomfortable conditions in the room was refused which I found disappointing.
Loved the feel of the inn. Staff very friendly and a wonderful ancient house which I absolutely loved.
All perfect !
Nice cosy, and quirky old inn. We did not have dinner, but the food looked excellent, we had eaten on the way down, as we had delays with traffic and roadworks. Had drinks in the bar which was nice. Our dog was welcomed, and Molly the resident dog was beautiful and wondered around, and excepted the occasional pat. Breakfast was full and quality product which showed. Really enjoyed our stay, just a pity we were just passing to go to France, but look forward to a future stay, and meal.
Parking was busy, but eased later on to accommodate.
