Pros: This was my second stay at Alvear Art. I returned because I enjoyed my first time. I like the location: the area ranging from the Plaza de Mayo all the way up to Recoleta contains a lot that interests me. I enjoy sitting on a bench in Plaza San Martin and listening to the birds and the city while reading something thoughtful and contemplating life. It's nice too to have within walking range a number of nice restaurants. The hotel staff was glad to advise me and make suggestions. The servers in the hotel restaurant treated me like a friend. I believe I have found my place to stay in Buenos Aires.

Cons: Some inconsistencies in room service practices that were mildly disconcerting and once or twice a bit annoying. All calls to housekeeping or room service were promptly answered and problems fixed quickly.

Cons: There wasn't anything I didn't like. I would have liked to swim with the roof open since it was warm out and the roof was not retracted. It was summer time so I figured they would have opened it up. Not a big issue and it more than made up for it in every other way.

Pros: The pool & buffet breakfast were amazing! It was a chilly day in Buenos Aires so the indoor heated pool was very nice and I definitely put that to use. It is modern and clean and I enjoyed the cabanas and complimentary fresh juice. The view from the pool deck is outstanding! I thoroughly enjoyed the buffet breakfast. They offered a wide assortment. Best breakfast I have had during my stay in Argentina. The rooms are large and the beds are large and comfortable. I slept very well. I enjoyed the spa tubs and the bathrooms are very chic! Only issue was the faucet...a little quirky at times but nothing major to complain about. I enjoyed the hardwood flooring and felt very safe in my hotel room.

Pros: The mattress in our room could be replaced. It was like sleeping on a rolling slope of hills, basically it was lumpy. The breakfast was great the first day, however by the 5th day I was craving something else! Good selection of food, the scrambled eggs were runny. It's free so these are minor complaints. The hotel is right near the "obelisk." It's centrally located which makes it ideal. Quick cab rides to all the barrios.

Cons: For a nice hotel like this one, they did not have hair dryers or converters. I would have been happy to pay for a converter if they offered one so it was a little annoying and a bit of a hassle to go out searching for one. I wasted about 45min of my time but eventually found one at a local market shop for very cheap.

Cons: It was fine, but initially surprised there was no door to close off the bath. I enjoy a bath in peace and quiet but due to no closed room, I had the football going on the TV as well, because my husband really loves TV and sport. It was a little ironical and funny.

Miscellaneous notes- the fitness room is mediocre not because of the equipment but because there is no ventilation in the basement where the pool and gym are- which made it very difficult to breathe while running/ working out.

Cons: Nothing about this hotel is 5 stars except the location. The service is bad, breakfast gets repetitive if you stay longer than 2 nights, and the rooms are nothing special. I had an argument with the breakfast staff because on a day when it was particularly crowded, we were waitlisted to be seated and were placed in the bar area while we waited. The breakfast crew simply forgot about us and after a 45 minutes wait when tables became available they started seating other people ahead of us. Oh, and if you want decent expresso coffee you need to pay extra.

Cons: We stayed 3 nights at the hotel. After two nights we all of a sudden had to change rooms because of a water problem although the taps were still running fine. Afterwards it became clear why we had to change: our room (402) had bedbugs to which I reacted badly. It was unfortunate the hotel didn’t come clear with it upfront. After complaining we were only compensated marginally for it

Cons: Some back ground info: Argentina has two rates for currency exchange, which are buying rate and selling rate. The buying rate is normally 10% more than the buying rate. The hotel used the USD buying exchange rate, instead of the selling rate ( it is about the bank rate Visa card uses) to convert my room rate in USD to its local currency, which was about 10% more than what I should pay, and they refused to take my payment in USD when I asked for the option. It was simple a scam, since I was not buying USD from them, why used this rate?! I stayed other hotels in Argentina. This is the only one did this. Disappointing.

Cons: However, maintenance at this hotel is not a top priority in my opinion. The inside of the hotel, lobby, hallways, and, especially, the room we stayed in (receptionist at front desk had stated it was a “luxury room”) need a thorough “facelift.” And, on that note, shampoos and conditioners were not replenished when room was cleaned on either of the two opportunities. I feel that there are other hotels for similar rates that offer a better cost-benefit ratio.

Cons: On checking out they forgot to give me a package that they had kept for me but then it was five in the morning and I forgot to ask! Just too bad a note did not show up on my checking out! My fault as it was a different staff member than when the package was handed over the morning before. I had been at a tango show and it was 1:00 A.M. in the morning and forgot to ask for the package!

Cons: I would not suggest booking a junior double room, the room assigned to us on the 9th floor had a shuttered in window that wasn't able to open. The AC was broken so it was blazing hot in there. I was sitting in sweat until I could shower. The facilities could really use a refresher. We couldn't stand that room so we got an upgraded room with a balcony and the light was broken. The staff came into help but it was still broken.

Cons: I've been at many NH hotels in Europe but this was a disappointment. The room was cold because the window could not close properly. The old wooden parquet near the bathroom was sharp and my husband hurt his feet while walking barefoot. The bed sheets were old from washing with unwashable stains and old towels had become grey from washing and needs to be replaced soon. The room and hotel had a bad smell. No kettle in the room. No anything that you'd expect from a 4*hotel. We didn't have time to have drama and decided not to complain as we arrived late and for one night only but if you don't want to spoil your holiday you should know that.

Cons: I think that there is no hotel today prepared for women that plays an Executive role. For example: the bathroom all have very bad mirrors and even a terrible light for us to simply make up. I know this can be sound silly but it makes difference for us to be prepared for work.

It is very close to Obelisco, Teatro Colon, Teatro Cervantes, Florida street, Galerias Pacifico, theatres on Corrientes Avenue, the list is big of all what it is at a walking distance. Recoleta is also close, a longer nice walk or by bus or taxi, few minutes. Public transportation, Subway, Supermarket, convenience stores, restaurants and bars, all handy. Excellent for shopping, many nice stores beside the ones in the Shopping Mall. I didn't see other facilities except for a conference room downstairs. The room has soundproof windows, I didn't hear anything from the street so all was good.

Pros: We have travelled a fair bit and its the first hotel that have a policie no outside food or drinks allowed. (Acceptable if the hotel as a restaurant, but ut was not the case) We soon realized, on Christmas eve, all restaurant booked with reservation so we opted to buy a pizza and go back to the room. Well to our suprise the night clerk was very rude and obnoxious in refusing us to bring the pizza to the room. It was quite disappointing. We sat on the curb and enjoyed a slice and then gave it to people on the street. All to say , had we known that ahead we would not have rented this place. Very old, dated and cleanliness is less then desirable. Mildew in bathroom, ac was not cooling the place let alone we requested a second key so we could keep the unit on while away, and that was also an issue and a drama to get the key. All to say there is lots of hotel in BA and this is not one we would recommend.

Pros: My second time staying there and will absolutely stay there again. The location is fantastic - Just above the craziness of Microcentro, but a very easy walk to get there. Staff are friendly, internet in the rooms is fast enough to work on and overall value is fantastic.

Pros: We have travelled a fair bit and its the first hotel that have a policie no outside food or drinks allowed. (Acceptable if the hotel as a restaurant, but ut was not the case) We soon realized, on Christmas eve, all restaurant booked with reservation so we opted to buy a pizza and go back to the room. Well to our suprise the night clerk was very rude and obnoxious in refusing us to bring the pizza to the room. It was quite disappointing. We sat on the curb and enjoyed a slice and then gave it to people on the street. All to say , had we known that ahead we would not have rented this place. Very old, dated and cleanliness is less then desirable. Mildew in bathroom, ac was not cooling the place let alone we requested a second key so we could keep the unit on while away, and that was also an issue and a drama to get the key. All to say there is lots of hotel in BA and this is not one we would recommend.

In your site asks what time you would like to check in and I answered 11:;-12:00hs, the hotel replied, yes, if there are rooms available. On arrival, to make a room available I had to pay 50a% fee for what they call "day stay" or some other rubbish. I did lodge a complaint on their complaints book and later on the day they returned my money with all sorts, again, of rubbish excuses. Cons: We were expecting a '4 Star' property as it claims to be but received nothing even close. Our room did not have functioning AC and it was HOT, the room was tiny and seemed like it was rarely cleaned, the elevators were tiny and always full, the staff were extremely strict on the checkout time and ignored an attempt I made before arriving to adjust my reservation. For the money, there are far better hotels in BA and we will certinally be staying at them next time.

The carpets were dirty and gross and the surfaces of all the tables were greasy, as well as the remote for the TV. The bathroom was extremely small, the wifi barely worked, and it wasn't located in the best part of town.

Cons: The bed sheets were not very clean. We requested for additonal blanket but the blanket was teared and it was not clean. The bathrrom sink was too small. It is very complicated to wash your hands. Breakfast was full of carbohydrate. The lift in the hotel was like a night mare. You cant take your self thinking about; when will you fall down with the lift while you are moving up or down.

Pros: The hotel was acceptable, breakfast was good. The beds were not the most comfortable but acceptable. the views from the façade of the Hotel was good, but our stay in the other room was not too good no view. The keeping of luggage whilst away to Iguazu was a very good gesture from the Hotel.

Pros: The location near the obelisk is great for those wanting to walk around and see the tourist attractions, you're right in the heart of the city. However, you're paying primarily for the location. The photos on the web look much nicer than the rooms actually are. Carpets are dirty, drapes are old, windows open all the way on all floors so be careful if booking with children (think opposite of Las Vegas windows). The staff is friendly but speaks very little English, and the wifi is very spotty on the upper floors. No wifi at some parts of the day and in some parts of the hotel. The bathroom was clean, but if you're looking for a very nice hotel in this area you're going to have to pay more. This is a "value" hotel for this neighborhood. It does provide a great view of the obelisk, however.

Cons: we deferred our stay but was not advised to book in advance for our return stay. on arrival for a further nights stay we were charged double the amount compared to our 2 night stay. if advised that the pricing could change we would have surely booked in advance.

Cons: The hotel seems a little rundown - crumbled plaster in the hallway, for example. The WiFi in the rooms doesn't work so we had to keep going down to reception.

Cons: First I did not like that there was no one to help us with our luggage at the door. Second the rooms are too small no space to walk around. Third the Wifi in the rooms is extremely awful was not able to do any work on my laptop. The only place there is a better Wifi connection is in the lobby. The only staff that was very helpful too us was Silvio at the reception desk is too bad that he works the night shift.
