comfortable and economical car, acceptable cuising performancePros:We had a good car that proved very comfortable for what was a long journey, from Chicago to Newark in 8 days, with a few days stopped off here and there on the way. Fuel consumption was very good, particularly for a car in the USA (albeit a Korean one): 50mpg was pretty typical going a steady 60-70mph. Luggage space was very good. Budget was very amenable to our changing the drop-off location from Boston to Newark, at no additional cost (one-way rental cost already paid).Cons:We had to go for a one-way rental, which gave a very much more expensive per-day price for the car, particularly for a short rental of 8 days. Notwithstanding this expense, it was possible to get a one-way rental and it was, if anything, less expensive than other suppliers.Reviewed Jul 20 2018

I was booked for a pickup at an offsite location that was closed!Cons:I booked for a a one-way pickup for a flight arriving at MDW at 8:55 pm. I was booked for a pickup Budget at an offsite location down the road in another city that closes at 6 pm! Why would your website do such a thing? When I asked if I could rent a car from the MDW Budget location, I was told that it would cost over $1,200 instead of the $199 price of my reservation. Outrageous! I ended up going to another rental company at MDW and having to pay something like $660 for this rental (more than 3 times the original price, but almost half as much as the best rate I could get from Budget at MDW).Reviewed Mar 8 2018

Pros:The workers were Nice and courteous.Cons:I had a reservation, but when I showed up, they said "as you can see, we don't have any cars left. Let's see what we can do ".There was a vehicle in the lot they rented to me but low tire pressure light was on as I was driving away. He put air in it. By the next day, I had to put air in the tire, and EVERY DAY. The vehicle also had NO or FROZEN windshield wiper fluid. Scary driving and had to stop and clean windshield often. The rental location was also off site with no airport shuttle service. I originally shuttled to airport rental and then had to UBER back and forth each way to get to the airport. Great car for the price!Pros:We stayed about a mile down at a nearby hotel. The guy at Budget volunteered to co e pick us up to get our rental car! Going beyond the call of duty! The car was really nice Mazda 6 with a push button start engine, leather seats, and an awesome Bluetooth radio system. Everybody at the rental office was very friendly and they even washed our car and vacuumed it out right before we received the keys.Cons:Can’t say anything bad about this Budget rental.Reviewed Oct 22 2017

location information clarity neededPros:When I eventually got a car, in Evanston, the service was good and the car was fine.Cons:I came from VA to Chicago on Xmas day. I assumed the pickup location was near the airport (Ohare). When I got to the Budget office adjacent to Ohare, it turned out I was in the wrong location. I needed to get to another location 30 miles away which had already closed for the day, in fact they had closed before my flight arrived at 2pm. The Ohare office had no extra cars so I was without a rental car to use to get to my Xmas day dinner with relatives. I got a rental in Evanston the next day. Needless to say, this was a frustrating experience. Any thoughts on how to avoid a repeat of the problem in the future?Reviewed Jan 16 2017
