Pros: This small, family-run hotel (20 rooms) is a lovely place, perfectly located in the uber-touristy town of Bruges, and professionally run. All of the service feels personally directed and is therefore pleasingly attentive. In a larger property many of the same services are available but are (sometimes necessarily, generally unnecessarily) delivered in an impersonal, imperfect way, leaving residual dissatisfaction -- at the Hotel de Castilion, however, all is done with style and grace and efficiency (and here I would particularly praise Nick, who was on duty for much of our stay). Our room was quite, quite nice (the Bridal/Honeymoon Suite, which I booked for its features and not on account of recent nuptials, verged on spectacular) -- I would also highlight the quality of the service staff, who efficiently and almost invisibly kept the room in top shape. Without question, if we ever wish again to brave the crowded tourist mecca that is Bruges, the Hotel de Castilion will be our refuge.

We stayed in the family room for a girls’ trip and the space couldn’t have been more perfect. Cookies, chocolates, and other treats in the room and lobby were definitely a nice perk!

Pros: This hotel has character both inside and out. We had a room in the roof with lots of traditional features and exposed roof timbers. All the the furniture and fitting were in excellent condition and the room spotlessly clean. The hotel is well maintained and cared for. We arrived early and our room was ready, which is always a bonus. Reception and restaurant staff very professional and efficient. Breakfast was served in a very modern room with an excellent choice of food. All the main attractions of Brugge are within walking distance of the hotel.

The bed is one of the most comfortable we've ever slept in, and the bathroom was thoroughly clean, modern, and warm too, with an amazing bathtub and large mirror that even the pictures fail to capture. Overall, the included facilities are truly 5-star level, and overall the room truly makes you feel like royalty! The view from the room was the cherry on top, as you can clearly see all of Bruges' tall monuments from the windows, since the hotel is at the heart of the city's historic center. Last but not least, the staff is friendly, polite and very professional, and even had the generosity of surprising us with a small box of Belgian chocolates as a birthday gift. They also took care of our luggage both before the check in and after the check out, absolutely free of charge.

Cons: Although we had a pleasant stay at this hotel I would not rate it as 5 star compared with other hotels we stayed in throughout Europe recently. I would give this hotel 4 stars. There was no concierge as such to deal with our luggage or requests. Bathroom only had a shower and no separate bath.

There are some good bars and restaurants just up the road from the hotel so on those extra cold nights, when you don't want to walk far, you don't have to! Some areas were stiflingly hot. furniture in the lobby was strangely modern for a historic area, and some of it was shabby. There was a strange smell that permeated much of the hotel, including the lobby, the common bathrooms, and my room.

There are some good bars and restaurants just up the road from the hotel so on those extra cold nights, when you don't want to walk far, you don't have to! Technically a wrong move but after three attempts and 1 hour extra driving in the dark, and the assistance of a shop owner, one takes desperate measures!

In all my travels I can honestly say that they were the best reception staff that I have ever dealt with. One of the best restaurants we ate in was called Bavita (Italian Spagetti) again fantastic staff who were only too delighted to tell you all about Brugge. Lastly there is a Supermarket right across the road from Novotel which was also a great bonus.

We were warmly welcomed by the staff and had no problems during the stay. Our room was bright and clean with a lovely view out to the countryside. The Bathroom had nice products and teas/coffees were supplied in the room. There is indoor parking available for 3euro per day or the outdoor parking is free. We rented bikes directly from the hotel and cycled along the beautiful canal to a little town called Damme. There is a huge selection of food for the breakfast which we enjoyed before setting out for our bike trip.

Pros: Walking distance with luggage 10 min from train station but in the Old Center already. Staff very polite and accommodating. Family room was large and well equipped. Internet worked well, minibar, water heater and coffee machine provided. Breakfast was excellent and always replenished. Special attention for children's breakfast favorites was given.
Cons: The view but that was OK. The hotel is in an old building and could use renovations but it is still very nice to stay in.

Pros: Whenever I visit my grandchildren I stay at this NH Hotel in Brugge. It is comfortable, excellent breakfast and nice modern clean rooms with plenty of space. The parking is convenient even if you have to go to the public carpark, it is only a few meters walk. Will definitely come again soon.
Cons: there are two machines to make waffles but always too little pastry dough.......... when it gets refilled you only get 3 or four little cups of dough to make the waffles with 5 or 6 people waiting in line.......... this could be improved a lot !! Breakfast staff was not particularly friendly ...... it was very crowded with guests and too few members of staff to cope with the amount of guests.............

Pros: Definitely a step up from your typical NH hotel; staff was nice, room was spacious enough, breakfast was good. You're a tiny bit outside of where most of the major tourist attractions are, but it's not too far to walk. The price is great for what you get.

Pros: The young lady that checked us in was very friendly and helped us find a restaurant that would allow dogs. She treated our pet as she would any guest~~The breakfast area of the hotel did not allow our pet in but there was a table set up right outside that we used every day. This worked very well for us. We actually felt the location of this table had the best view evevr! This hotel offered suitable parking (for a fee) which was well worth it! Staff is English speaking.

The hotel itself was comfortable and exactly what I’d expected. The hotel itself is quite but you are not too far from the centre where you have everything you could want. Cons: There is an interior garden area that pets are not allowed in but smokers are. As with pets, not all smokers pick up after themselves. I would have preferred to see one small area dedicated to the dogs- sending my husband out at 2:30 in the morning to find a suitable place for her to relieve herself worried me greatly. The furniture was a bit worn. Which made me sad because you could see that it had once been an expensive and impressive hotel.

Cons: Payment was a bit confusing. We chose free cancellation but was charged the day before we checked in. When we checked in, the receptionist charged us again on our card. Then we were told that the first payment was on hold until we checked out. I received the money back in my account 3 days after checking out. This is my first time to experience this kind of payment when staying in a hotel. Getting into the hotel was also confusing as Google map showed the door that was not used anymore. But the hotel supplied a map to get to the lobby and parking - and this was confusing too! You have to go to the other building and go up from there and cross the bridge, take the lift up and then you'll see the hotel lobby.

We are guessing that this hotel will likely be completely remodeled at some point in time, it just hasn’t happened yet. And because of their excellent location, they fill their rooms.

Cons: Rooms were quite noisy throughout the night due to bar music being close by. Rooms were not sound proof as described.

Cons: Extremely noisy floors. If you stay on yhe 1st floor you will not be able yo sleep at night due to residents walking. No noise insulation

Pros: We booked at the last minute and we were very surprised by the hotel. The receptionists were very nice and helpful. The hotel is in the center of Bruges which is perfect to visit the city quickly. The room has just been renovated so cannot be cleaner. To finish the breakfast was nice too. Thank you.

Pros: Only good thing was the location
Cons: The hotel is literally falling apart in the inside. Room had 1970's maroon carpet that smelled badly. Furniture was cheap and outdated. Bed was worn out and unsupportive. It was advertised as complimentary breakfast at the time of booking, but at checkout they insisted that I had the "pay for breakfast rate" , so the charged me for the breakfasts that I ate. Nowhere in my email confirmation did it say anything about pay for breakfast , but the advertisement at description when booking clearly states complimentary breakfast. Total bait and switch tactic. Would not stay here again if they paid me. Location was the only plus.

Pros: The bed was okay.
Cons: Dirty carpets, dirty bath, no plug in bath and sink, television didn’t work neither did the fridge or the phone. Stains and holes in the ceiling and walls, old faded towels. Work was being done on the hotel, around our room. We were informed about work in the hotel but couldn’t get a refund, and we presumed ithe work would be away from our room not all around it. We’ve taken photos, this was our first holiday in five years on our own, not the 3* room we were expecting not even 1*. The hotel needs its upgrade but not while open Shame on you booking.com

Pros: The staff were very friendly and went out of their way to assist.
Cons: The mattress was very uncomfortable and kept dipping into the middle making sleeping very difficult as kept forcing into the middle. The shower head leaked with the tiles holding the taps loose and pulling from the wall slightly when using the taps The room was very cold even with the heating on making it very hard to get warm.

Pros: The hotel was renovated. Nowhere on the site no mention. Workers in the corridors and scaffolding outside, I would welcome a different and cheaper price than what was given. The center of Brugge of course wonderful.

Pros: I love staff. Everyone is very friendly. Also View from the window was amazing. Location is perfect.
Cons: I think hotel is too old already and need to renovate. Towels were very old and these were look like a bit gray already. Also carpets in the hotel need to be change. Hotel is really clean but with the old staff looks like not clean. Actually expectations from pictures mached the reality.
