10,0 Excellent
Pros: Very nice and friendly.
9,6 Excellent
Pros: Nice breakfast
9,6 Excellent
Pros: A very unique alpine style hotel, charming rooms and very nice welcoming staff. The breakfast was one of the best I have ever had in a hotel. Location is great for skiing and also for wandering around the old town (about 20 min walk)
Cons: The bathrooms are different in every room and ours was a bit awkward with a very tiny bath which was not really good for a bath neither a good shower. There is no lift so walking up to the third floor was a bit of unwelcomed extra exercise. But overall this was a minor issue and after all, we were there for a sports weekend!
8,8 Excellent
Pros: Quirky decor, good food. No A/C but it didn't matter. Location is good, and the quality is typical or better than many Briancon hotels.
Cons: No shampoo.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Ideal location and friendly staff

9,6 Excellent
Pros: We have stayed here several times now over the last few years and this place never disappoints. The rooms are clean, comfortable and tastefully decorated. Beds are comfortable and the bathrooms modern. Well located inside the citadel. Good breakfast and friendly staff. English spoken.
Cons: Nothing to complain about with the exception of WIFI signal in rooms could be better.
8,3 Excellent
Pros: Quaintness of the old town and being able to have drinks on the ramparts of the Vauban fort while watching the sunset.
Cons: Very noisy given it is in the centre of the old town, but this may have been an exception as the police had to come to stop a guy doing maintenance.
7,1 Good
Pros: Perfect location in old town.
Cons: Slight smell in bathroom.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Great location, very helpful staff
7,9 Good
Pros: Excellent location. Very central and convenient to explore old town.
Cons: Room was tiny - ok for 1 night but not longer. Parking a bit of a hassle.
7,9 Good
Pros: The hotel is very nice and well located in the walled city of Vauban. The staff was nice and the room had everything we needed. The bathroom was excellent and the shower was amazing. Overall we really recommend this place.
8,3 Excellent
Pros: Lovely location in a tiny street in a pedestrian area with good restaurants nearby.
Cons: Noise floating up from the street below, especially later in the evening!
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Wonderful little Oberge in the centre of walled Briancon
7,5 Good
Pros: There is nothing particularly to get excited about here and there is not a lot wrong with it. Its a simple deceptively large hotel in the old part of Briancon. Rooms are comfortable without being luxurious , it has a dining room which seemed popular although we didnt eat there. Its a bit complicated to find and parking is a bit of pot luck as the streets are very narrow and spaces are at a premium. Overall for the money its not bad value and the view from the ramparts of the old town is lovely.
Cons: As mentioned its not the easiest hotel to find. Breakfast was a bit of a disaster - the cycling party also staying wiped out most of the self service buffet !!. To their credit the hotel only charged us for 1 rather than 2 . Quite a lot of stairs if you have a room on the top floor.
7,5 Good
Pros: Wonderful breakfast!
Cons: Nothing

6,7 Good
Pros: Hotel is nicely located in between old town and downtown. It offers good service for visitors and hikers and bed is comfortable, and breakfast is adequate. Nothing special but reasonable and fair value. Staff are friendly and caring.
6,7 Good
Pros: Ok location on a (busy) street - quite a walk up to the old town. Very nice room with balcony :) The check in guy at reception is the spitting image of Robin Williams in a younger brother version !! :)))
Cons: Wifi was apalling outside of ground floor. Advertised is a garden, which we chose for our 2 beagles, but when asked "no, the garden is private " really ???? and parking has limited space - of which one is a big van of the hotel - how about moving the van and letting more parking space for hotel guests?
7,9 Good

10,0 Excellent

Pros: A really nice hotel situated very near the old town, very high in the French Alps a picture perfect location, the drive to the hotel was spectacular with snow capped peaks above the tree line even after a hot summer. local restaurant very nice meal with good service. Old town shops on a slope with oodles of character, would definitely stay again
7,5 Good
Pros: Parking area for motorcycles. Great view from backside of the hotel.
Cons: A bar was mentioned under the hotel facilities at www.booking.com. It turned out that the bar only served non-alcoholic drinks. In warm weather when you need to have the window open during the night you will have a lot of noise from passing vehicles if having rooms towards the street.
7,5 Good
Pros: Friendly staff. Helpful. Convenient to old town
Cons: A little dated! Could do with a fresh decoration
7,1 Good
Pros: Basic hotel close to the old town/fort. Our room was large with a balcony. Free parking right out front of hotel and/or across the street if full.

3,3 Mediocre
Pros: The city
Cons: Appartment was dirty, very minimalise, bad kitchen gear, the shower water didn’t flush away well
5,0 Okay
Pros: The location within the old city was great. The surrounding area is magnificent. The apartment was fairly spacious.
Cons: Bad smell on arrival to later realise this was under the sink with a bucket catching a drip rather than it having been fixed. The general maintenance was bad with cupboard doors hanging off, holes in the floor, kettle broken. Whilst in a good location, the apartment did not look as homely or the same as the photos and generally poorly maintained.
9,6 Excellent
Pros: Great stay in Residence apartment. Very clean, comfortable and well equipped with good kitchen facilities. Beautiful location in the old town.

5,4 Okay
Pros: Location is good. Those rooms that have been redecorated/fitted are good but not uniformly so. I've stayed at the Vauban many times over the past 15 years but this is the first time under new management. The bar and restaurant areas are good.
Cons: Staff seem run off their feet. Car park FULL of tour group vehicles with trailers etc - for bikes various. Just about OK. One of my colleagues was woken by a MOUSE in his bedroom. Staff seemed somewhat unconcerned - maybe it's a new fixture... but we didn't ask for free-running vermin when we booked.
9,2 Excellent
Pros: Staff very helpful and friendly, garage for our motorcycle
Cons: No gin in the bar
7,1 Good
Pros: It was convenient for us as we were driving through the Haute Alpes. We walked up to the old town during the day which was great but drove back at night to eat at an excellent restaurant (Au Plaisir Ambre) - much better than the one around the corner in Rue Centrale from the hotel. Close to the funicular which we went up to the Serre Chevalier on - that was fabulous. Breakfast was also fine and we thought the choices were good and when we got still warm croissants on the Sunday morning were very pleased indeed.
Cons: It was a little bit noisy but we managed
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast is quality, the choice is great and very tasty. The location of the hotel is very good for travelers. Also for starting point of city tour.
Cons: I have no comment, keep it at that level.

Cons: All good
7,9 Good
Pros: Hotel was fine for our overnight stay!hotel provided us with complimentary bus tickets which took us directly to the old town! Well worth a visit! We also ate there, very good.
Cons: No air con
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Really lovely clean and big room with a little balcony. The Plan B restaurant bar which is part of the hotel serves great food and there was a musical duo playing early evening on the Tuesday night I was there. I thoroughly recommend this hotel. I wanted to stay again on my return journey from Italy but the hotel was booked
Cons: Nothing, all good.
7,1 Good
Pros: Friendly staff. Good location for an overnight “Grand Tour Des Alpes” stopover.
6,7 Good
Pros: The size of the room. Car park facilities. Near a large supermarket and a laundrette. Busy hotel for tourists ,cyclists , bikers. Staff looked after the arrangements for securing the storage of cycles and motor bikes.
Cons: The outside of the hotel was not clean. Needs to be cleaned to get rid of discarded cigarettes. Dogs allowed into buffet breakfast. People stroking their dogs then handling serving utensils. The restaurant only served a basic burger and fish and chips menu.
7,9 Good
Pros: Very, very basic room, but clean. Great location right next to all services in Briancon. Friendly staff.
Cons: Our room looked out-dated, at least compared to pictures on Internet. Not the best value in August, at least compared to smaller skiing towns nearby. 10 € breakfast buffet was satisfactory, but kinda expensive for what it was. Our balcony was facing a very noisy street, but we managed to sleep still relatively well. Bike garage was advertised but ours were left to an unlocked skiing equipment room next to the reception. No bike washing equipment available.

Pros: The staff are brilliant. Katy has a great team who are welcoming and friendly. Huge thanks to Kevin, Nora and especially Katy. They all made our stay giving us their local knowledge and pouring the Jupiler.....
Cons: Only thing lacking for the Summer months is Air Con especially when the weather is hot hot hot
5,0 Okay
Pros: Not much
Cons: The staff were off hand and rude. The restaurant was full of flies. The reception forgot to mention that the whole intersection in the front and side of the hotel was being resurfaced all through the night. You could not open the window because of the noise and the room was stifling. One small fan, which we had to keep on all night. The temperature was 35 plus when we arrived. The staff did not speak any English, not even a minuscule amount. We tried at least used google translate to communicate. Would not stay at this hotel again and would not recommend it at all.
3,8 Mediocre
Pros: The bed was comfortable, the breakfast buffet was good (except I like tea in the morning and the only hot water came from a coffee maker, so was not hot enough for tea and had coffee residue in it - horrible) and my sat nav had no trouble finding it.
Cons: We arrived on a Saturday late afternoon and the receptionist spoke practically no English. This is unusual for a 4* hotel that has already written to me in perfectly good English. She denied I had reserved a parking place or booked for dinner, so I had to show her the confirmatory email to that effect. After much more tinkering with the computer, she finally gave me the access details to the car park, where my car was blocking the entrance. We then had to pay for everything in advance, including the cost of dinner. Our room was on the 5th floor and called a suite. It was so tiny we had to play ‘excuse me’ every time we went anywhere. The place was also exceedingly hot, there being no air conditioning and the outside temperature around 34C. We had booked this room so my partner had access to a balcony, which was actually larger than the bathroom but sadly just a paved box with two exceedingly unprepossessing and uncomfortable solid plastic chairs - although they looked more like concrete. No table or anything to put your cup down on etc. We moved one of the bedside tables - a block of wood - out there. The spare room was under the eaves and the beds were located in the only bit of the room it was possible to stand up in. There was one electric socket for the whole of that room and not many more in the main bedroom. Two fans were provided, one for each room, but as they were just table fans, one had to improvise with the bedside tables to get the breeze up at a reasonable height to be of any use. There was a decent coffee maker but only paper cups, not our idea of 4* service. Dinner was in a basement room with access to a few tables on the pavement outside. It was a three course buffet, much as you can get in a decent motorway service station in France. The wine came from a barrel and there seemed to be no other choice. Similarly water was served by the carafe instead of the more usual bottles.

Cons: Arrived late to very unfriendly host. Hard to find and limited parking. Rooms are small and outdated. Beds uncomfortable. Bed was dirty and soda in fridge had half empty cans.Arrived late to very unfriendly host. Hard to find and limited parking. Rooms are small and outdated. Beds uncomfortable. 9,2 Excellent
Pros: Location
Cons: My GPS couldn’t find it even though it is in the center of town. Apparently Waze works better than Google
4,6 Okay
Pros: Breakfast was poor. Dinner was ok
Cons: Tables not cleared away in good time at breakfast
9,6 Excellent
Pros: Everything! Superb hospitality!
Cons: Toilet paper was on low side:)
7,5 Good
Pros: We liked the breakfast and the room we had was big and had a nice view. Location was good.
Cons: Unfortunately due to a miscommunication we paid for the room twice (once through booking.com and after we arrived the hotel asked us to put a deposit on our creditcard because the payment had not come through yet and later charged the card with the full amount). Now it's almost a month later and we have yet to be refunded. I have faith that the hotel will refund us but it is taking them quite long considering it should be obvious in the books that we paid them twice. Also the pool looks way bigger in the pictures but we still had a nice time using it.
6,7 Good
Pros: The rooms were clean. The hotel restaurant was very friendly and very tasty. The breakfast was also very good.
Cons: There was no airconditioning and the fan that was placed in the room did not work. I had tried to reserve a parking spot, but never got a confirmation from the hotel and therefore no spot on arrival. I wouldnt expect a customer requesting to pay for parking to have to also go looking for a confirmation, but rather the hotel to inform the customer whether or whether not parking is available.

Pros: We did not have breakfast because of all the flies in the breakfast room
Cons: Small rooms. We weren’t informed that there was major road works going on all through the night. When we asked to belocatedatthe back of the hotel the woman just glared at us and turned her back.
