Arrived late to very unfriendly host. Hard to find and limited parking. Rooms are small and outdated. Beds uncomfortable. Bed was dirty and soda in fridge had half empty cans.Arrived late to very unfriendly host. Hard to find and limited parking. Rooms are small and outdated. Beds uncomfortable. The rooms were clean. The hotel restaurant was very friendly and very tasty. The breakfast was also very good.
There was no airconditioning and the fan that was placed in the room did not work. I had tried to reserve a parking spot, but never got a confirmation from the hotel and therefore no spot on arrival. I wouldnt expect a customer requesting to pay for parking to have to also go looking for a confirmation, but rather the hotel to inform the customer whether or whether not parking is available.
The bed was comfortable, the breakfast buffet was good (except I like tea in the morning and the only hot water came from a coffee maker, so was not hot enough for tea and had coffee residue in it - horrible) and my sat nav had no trouble finding it.
We arrived on a Saturday late afternoon and the receptionist spoke practically no English. This is unusual for a 4* hotel that has already written to me in perfectly good English. She denied I had reserved a parking place or booked for dinner, so I had to show her the confirmatory email to that effect. After much more tinkering with the computer, she finally gave me the access details to the car park, where my car was blocking the entrance. We then had to pay for everything in advance, including the cost of dinner. Our room was on the 5th floor and called a suite. It was so tiny we had to play ‘excuse me’ every time we went anywhere. The place was also exceedingly hot, there being no air conditioning and the outside temperature around 34C. We had booked this room so my partner had access to a balcony, which was actually larger than the bathroom but sadly just a paved box with two exceedingly unprepossessing and uncomfortable solid plastic chairs - although they looked more like concrete. No table or anything to put your cup down on etc. We moved one of the bedside tables - a block of wood - out there. The spare room was under the eaves and the beds were located in the only bit of the room it was possible to stand up in. There was one electric socket for the whole of that room and not many more in the main bedroom. Two fans were provided, one for each room, but as they were just table fans, one had to improvise with the bedside tables to get the breeze up at a reasonable height to be of any use. There was a decent coffee maker but only paper cups, not our idea of 4* service. Dinner was in a basement room with access to a few tables on the pavement outside. It was a three course buffet, much as you can get in a decent motorway service station in France. The wine came from a barrel and there seemed to be no other choice. Similarly water was served by the carafe instead of the more usual bottles.
The staff are brilliant. Katy has a great team who are welcoming and friendly. Huge thanks to Kevin, Nora and especially Katy. They all made our stay giving us their local knowledge and pouring the Jupiler.....
Only thing lacking for the Summer months is Air Con especially when the weather is hot hot hot
We did not have breakfast because of all the flies in the breakfast room
Small rooms. We weren’t informed that there was major road works going on all through the night. When we asked to belocatedatthe back of the hotel the woman just glared at us and turned her back.
