Terrible experience all around. System wide outage caused massive delays. Employees don’t have a clue what they were doing. After 45 minutes of being patient, with my wife and 2 daughters (3 & 6) waiting way past their bedtimes, I asked one of the 3 Avis employees trying to figure out how to process my rental why was going on. The employee I asked acted incensed that I asked him that. I pointed out that I’ve been there for 45 minutes and several other people had gotten cars in front of me and behind me and he again acted like I was in the wrong for questioning him. Tempers flared after that, and I took my ID and card back and left Avis. I was still charged by Avis, and am working on a refund. I ended having to rent a car from Sixt for a much higher price. They however had me in a car in 10 minutes. I’ll never rent from Avis again.Reviewed Mar 14 2026

They don’t tell you when you book the car that if you want to return it early (same day rental) that there are not enough stalls to park the car and that you need to pay extra to valet the car or hang on to it until the morning.Reviewed Mar 13 2026

Customer service was not good. Rushed people thru without explaining paperwork told to initial everywhere and not explain why. Was charged for extra ins and other th things I would have never agreed to normally the agent would ask if you want these extras and say no. In the middle of processing my rental at the Avis desk, when I was picking up the car, the Avis computer went down. It ended up that they charged on my credit card twice for the car rental (but only once for the $200 security deposit). When I tried calling their billing, they could not find my rental and then they told me to call the Reno Airport Avis office, but the number they gave me only got me back to the same corporate automatic phone tree. Finally, there customer service office told me that it should work out when I returned the car. I returned the car yesterday morning as scheduled, but I still have not received the final bill.Reviewed Mar 11 2026

Placed the car on hold through kayak and was given a price for the set number of days I needed the car. I did not want insurance on the car as my credit card offers coverage and I was willing to accept any liability. However, once I got to the car rental, I was notified that insurance was mandatory through the car rental company, Avis. Initially, I was given a price of $148 at booking and once there they wanted me to pay approximately $500 extra for insurance!
