Cons:Only a couple of international flights arrive in the evening in Belize City and everyone knows their schedule. Our flight was delayed leaving Houston, it arrived an hour late and when we got to the AVIS place at 5:30 we found the the person working there had gone home at 5:00. Other rental companies were open and waiting for passengers. We rented a car from one of them.Reviewed Feb 14 2017

HORRIBLE - no cars available at pick-upPros:Nothing.Cons:Well, they didn't have a car for me so I waste don't $25USD on a cab to the airport from Belize City and then had to spend another $25 to get back into the city. I'm a go with the flow travler so it didn't ruin anything persay , but my entire plans had to change that day. Horrible service, call ahead and make sure they have a car ready for you!!!! Was closed when we landed at 5pmCons:I reserved this car a month in advance since I was traveling in a party of 6 and wanted to be sure to have a vehicle large enough to carry us all. Our plane landed at 4:45, it was 5 by the time we went through customs and retrieved our luggage, Avis was closed. We had to find another rental company. We were lucky that the other rental company had a vehicle large enough for us, but it was a 15 passenger van and cost alot more. Bait and switchPros:Rented a car from Avis through kayak for my trip to Belize. Once in Belize airport Avis I was told no cars were available and sent to another company that would honor the rental price. However I ended up having to pay about US $150 more for the car. Also I was told the third party rental car insurance I bought through kakak's site would not be honored and was pressured into buying the local rental company's insurance.Reviewed Dec 25 2016

Kayak Avis Rental ScamPros:Upon arriving in Belize Avis did not have a car reserved for us and thecrental sgencies would not honor the insurance purchased through Kayak on line. We did end up getting a rental though another angency but the entire transaction through Kayak turned out to be worthless. You are better off working through the rental car agencies themselves as we were told.Reviewed Dec 24 2016

Belize trip car rental at AvisPros:The trunk of the car could not close, that was a slight inconvenience due to the fact we had luggage and it had to be placed in the back seat of the car but overall the rental was great.Cons:Trunk of the car could not close.Reviewed Nov 25 2016
