Pros (+) The location is great if you want to be by the Leidseplein. The staff is friendly. The cost is low.
Cons (-) The hotel was represented on Kayak as a four star, but this is a 2-3 star economy hotel. It is bare bones with little service and dated accommodations. At night you can hear everything from the street and the aged elevator was broken for the second half of our stay. Bags are kept in an open room off a hallway like a hostel, not secured and tagged.

Pros (+) Hotel is close to city square & walking distance to everywhere. Lots of shops & places to eat nearby. Our room had a canal view & had plenty of space. Beds looked kind of shabby but were comfortable & I slept well. We were not able to check in early but were able to leave our bags with front desk. We only spent one night after Viking River Cruise & did not eat at the restuarant. Staff was friendly...
Cons (-) About a $50 ride from airport but this may be standard for most of Amsterdam since the airport seems out of the city a way.
