Pros: Good breakfast. Friendly personnel. Comfortable room and could not have wished for more.
Cons: Excellent breakfast, very pleasant attention by staff and very comfortable. Pity that the pool was not operating.
8,8 Excellent
Pros: Although it was old, it was very cozy and well kept up. It has its own character and the staff was very friendly and helpful

Pros: The property was stunning! Felt like you were truly back in the time period when royalty lived at Le Manoir Saint Thomas. Alain, the manager, was exceptional! The breakfasts were so delicious we chose to eat there each morning! Easy to find, parking was inside the property grounds, beds were comfortable, bathrooms modern. Overall, a wonderful experience. We would definitely go back!
Cons: Nothing, really.

Château de Nazelles Amboise - Amboise - Pool

9,4 Excellent (219 reviews)
R2 391+
Overview Reviews
Located in Nazelles-Negron, Château de Nazelles Amboise is in a rural location, within a 10-minute drive of St. Denis Church and Clos Lucé Castle. Free self parking is available onsite.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: A dreamy Chateau. A unique and romantic experience. Stunning views from bedroom window.
6,3 Good
Pros: A beautiful, quaint building with very pleasant grounds. The owners were welcoming and accommodating and provided useful information for our stay. The room was comfortable. On the evening we didn't wish to return to eat in Amboise, a very nice cold platter was provided which we ate at a picnic table in the grounds with lovely views of the countryside. The breakfasts were good.
Cons: As the chateau has no restaurant, we were surprised to find that there was nowhere to eat in the village, which meant a 10-15 minute drive to Amboise. On our first night, a friend who was staying in Amboise came and picked us up in the evening. We tried to find a taxi to take us home around 11pm but were unable to do so. The hotel owner had given us a taxi company card but no-one answered the phone. The restaurant owner managed to find a lad from the town to drive us home
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Highly recommended. Can not speak more praise for the entire experience. From our host, Victoria, to the amazing accommodations. Absolute perfection. The rooms are exquisite. Victoria was the most amazingly warm and accommodating hostess we have ever encountered!!! She helped us with our activities, getting around. After a 12 hour day out and about touring around, we arrived back to the Château and she had moved all our luggage and packed up some of it too, to accommodate us staying and extra night and didn’t charge us extra for nicer room! Truly amazing and hope we could come back, mostly just to stay at her amazing Château!! Eddie and Debbi
Cons: Nothing

Cons: everything great
10,0 Excellent
Pros: We love the comfortable atmosphere, the owners and Poppy the new pup!
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Chateau de Nazelles is absolutely wonderful. It’s well-located for Amboise, only a 10 min drive, but is far enough away to feel quiet and relaxing. Veronique made us feel like family for the week that we stayed there. She helped us organize restaurant reservations, suggested sites we didn’t know about, and gave us an idea of where to look when we ran out of baby formula for our daughter. The breakfasts were delicious, the room was comfortable, and the property itself is stunning. We loved staying here and would return in a heartbeat. Thank you for everything, Veronique and family!
Cons: Nothing—it was perfect.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Good breakfast, staff very helpful, interesting accommodation.
Cons: All was fine
10,0 Excellent
Pros: I would not know where to start with the praise. The welcome, the spaces, the landscaping, the food, the atmosphere were all overwhelming. We wish we would have booked more nights, but we will come back for sure. Thank you for a lovely experience!
9,6 Excellent
Pros: Lovely old property with modern amenities. The ground were fun to explore and the staff were friendly and helpful with restaurant and Château recommendations. The breakfast each morning (brought on a tray to our door) was generous and delicious - we had the best croissants in France here. The kids enjoyed the pool. Located just 10 minutes from Amboise and close to many of the best Châteaus. Highly recommend booking this early so you don’t miss out!
Cons: Nothing

Cons: No good coffee, no Expresso machine. Average breakfast. Bathroom not very functional. Overpriced.
8,0 Excellent
Pros: The place was very serene and calm
9,2 Excellent
Pros: This was a favorite of our 2 week stay around the Loire Valley which included several chateaus. Very well maintained, comfortable and with a quirky but luxurious feel for this chateau. Overall in great shape compared to other properties. We especially liked the barbecue area by the pool which allowed guests to have simple dinners outside. Arpentis' location allows for easy access to surrounding sights and the town with a car (you need a car!). Antoine the manager/all round person in the chateau was outstandingly helpful and likeable. True gem.
Cons: Breakfast was average. It can be hard to check in as the desk is unmanned at times but once we were in, any time I needed something I just dialled 9 from the room phone and response was immediate.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Incredible Château, incredible location, excellent service, recommend this Hotel 1000%
7,0 Good
Pros: The breakfast was very good. The chateau and the grounds are beautiful
Cons: The location is not good if you want to go out for a meal because you have a longish drive into Amboise. We stayed at this B&B when it was new and everything was really good. Now we find the rooms are tired and in need of refurbishment and the bed is not very comfortable.

5,8 Okay
Pros: The location was good...short walk to town and it did include parking. The room was clean but much smaller than expected for a "suite". Lots of stairs... Unlike other places we stayed in, it lacked charm. Also, like other places we stayed in, there is no AC ...just a fan...so in the heat of summer, it would be uncomfortable... we were there in fall and ran the fan with windows open and were still warm. The owner was very nice about parking in the facility early and leaving our car there for a few hours post checkout. Had some outdoor space which was ok, so we did sit outside with some wine and cheese one evening. The inside sitting space was not all that inviting.
Cons: size of the space, tiny bathroom and the kitchenette was only good for a refrigerator. very small closet.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Gaeille was so accommodating with making reservations. And the hot tub was a real plus. Cozy quiet cottages are a perfect getaway for a couple.
Cons: Wifi not available in the cottages.
9,2 Excellent
Pros: Excellent location. Room was very clean. Well equipped with good facilities. Private parking was welcomed.
Cons: Room was adequate but small.
6,0 Good
Pros: The madame was a supreme hostess. She provided a wonderful breakfast and she went above and beyond for us. The manor was very French quaint and very clean, a lovely place that provided just the experience we were looking for.
Cons: There was not one thing that we were not happy with.
6,7 Good
Pros: Breakfast OK but the same every day. Bed was comfortable.
Cons: No TV or drawers in bedroom. There was no communal sitting-room.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Perfect location and our welcome could not have been more gracious. This is a lovely b&b and we plan to return.
9,0 Excellent
Pros: This is a great property a short walk to the main streets of Amboise. There is a main manor house, renovated stables and a number of luxe cabins set on this spacious and well landscaped property. The owner was very kind and checked us in early. There is ample parking and the gate is closed at night. Travelling by motorbike, I really appreciate this sort of secure parking. We were staying in the stables that are on a "Gite" plan. The breakfast basket that was offered was enough food for two meals and the baguette and pastries were the best on the our trip. Our room was very comfortable and we slept well there as it is so quiet and peaceful. The kitchen in the room was well equipped and I enjoyed the coffee machine. Staff are lovely. Highly recommended.
Cons: The shower and toilet rooms were a bit cosy in our room.
8,0 Excellent
Pros: This is in an excellent location within short walk to the centre of town and the Royal Chateau. It is a safe and quite location. Easy to park within grounds. It was a nice touch to enable you to collect your breakfast in a basket from the main house. You could have it delivered. The staff are very friendly and the grounds tidy and the reception halls etc well maintained. Having spent all day driving from Perpignan we were met by friendly welcoming staff who covered the minimal admin and quickly allowed us to settle in for a very comfortable sleep. We awoke next morning to enjoy a good coffee and French breakfast, set up for a walk to the chateau and explore the town.
Cons: Although very clean the bathroom and toilet are very small.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Great location
Cons: Room 10 had noisy staircase very close.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Lovely property full of character in excellent location. Exceptionally clean. Great continental breakfast.
Cons: Nothing to dislike.

Pros: This is a budget hotel with clean beds and a continental breakfast. The staff were pleasant .
Cons: The area of town seemed industrial and maybe a little seedy .

Pros: A really good price for a family room. Away from the busiest centre area but only a short 15 min walk across the bridge. Breakfast was fab. We didn't eat in the restaurant but it looked lovely. Secure parking was a bonus. Great Boulangerie just up the road. Top notch. Air coin the room was welcome. Loved it.

8,8 Excellent
Pros: Welcoming staff, quiet part of town, pleasant garden area. Great food in the restaurant and exceptionally helpful chef/owner to talk through the food and wine. Would return again to eat there it was really very good.!
Cons: Bedroom a bit small and would have been better suited to a single bed rather than a double. I'm sure there are bigger rooms and otherwise everything was fine.
8,3 Excellent
Pros: The restaurant was fabulous, and the staff were very helpful and friendly
Cons: Just that the staircase was very narrow
7,5 Good
Pros: A beautiful building furnished to a very high standard. Our room was spacious and comfortable. The hotel is quiet and just a short walk from the town centre and the wonderful Clos de Luce

With its swimming pool, huge park and fixed price menu, this hotel is an invitation to disconnect, relax and enjoy the art of living in the Loire Valley.
8,3 Excellent
Pros: The charming warmth & empathy of the staff. Felt like we’d died & gone to heaven. Especially after an arduous car journey & arrived well after dark. staff were there to greet us & arranged for an amazing ‘picnic’ to be sent to our room as we were so tied & hadn’t eaten. Made us feel so welcome. Very special.
Cons: No hairdryer in room & towels could have been a bit bigger.
9,6 Excellent
Pros: Pluses: The owner/manager (Olivier) is dedicated to his guests comfort and overall experience in the Loire Valley. The property is truly unique, a chateau built into a cliff, with lovely lawn and pool. Staff is very friendly. Location is a quick drive from Amboise. Olivier's restaurant recommendations were spot on.
Cons: Wi-Fi service quality is an area for improvement.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Well appointed room with a beautiful understated decor and food and service to match. Extensive grounds just made for leisurely rambling and exploring or canoeing. Good quiet location just outside of Amboise.
8,0 Excellent
Pros: Lots of charm and history, fascinating grounds and close to town.
Cons: Rooms were large, a small refrigerator would have been made our stay more comfortable. Access to food aside from breakfast not without a reservation for dinner.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Host and owner, Olivier, was very friendly amazingly helpful. Lots of advice on what to see during our travels in France. Staff could not have been more attentive.
9,6 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was continental with lovely fresh bread, fruits and yogurts all from the area. Dinner the evening we arrived was served outside on the terrace which was simple with local produce and delicious. The Chateau had a large open air heated pool and there were walks in the grounds and also canoes available for the river. Our accommodation was generous and comfortable with lovely views. Staff were all very friendly and helpful.
8,3 Excellent
Pros: Chateau has great potential but just misses the mark on several fronts. Interesting to walk around and lovely grounds for walk/jog around and pool to chill by. Quiet and nice if you want to get away from it all.
Cons: Someway out of Amboise with no easy taxi service means you’re a bit stuck in the evening if you want to go out for dinner. Dinner at Chateau is set menu, no choice. Didn’t like Having to plug kettle in on floor by entrance door as sockets not in convenient places. New bathroom but skirting has been missed from painting and looks dirty. If no residents are eating seems guests have to fend for themselves, unable to get a drink with no staff around and place in semi darkness shut up for the night. Took over an hour to check out as did not seem to know how computer worked which caused confusion and bad feeling and 2 days later still no invoice has been able to be sent.
9,6 Excellent
Pros: Amazing unique property built into the cave. Rooms were spacious and the grounds and pool were lovely to explore.
Cons: Dinner wasn’t good value for money.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Everything! The view, the property!! The trails. The trees and the birds. The breakfast was amazing!! Best croissant I've tasted in France! Outstanding coffee and local cheeses.
9,6 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful castle hotel build on rocks. Super interesting to tour around the hotel. Nice room and service. I love it
Cons: Nothing to complain. It can be slightly cheaper maybe?
5,0 Okay
Pros: Breakfast was good quality if basic.
Cons: This was more youth hostel than chateau and bore no resemblance to the website. The staff wore their own clothes and looked unprofessional and scruffy with no name badges. The room was dated and tired looking with a broken shower, fuse box door had fallen off and was on the bathroom floor. Pool towels were threadbare and mismatched, carpet stained and old. This room has definitely missed out on any updates and I am appalled that it would be offered for 240€

Cons: Uncomfortable room, very hot, noisy.
7,9 Good
Pros: Very central location and our room was clean. Olivier & Samuel the two staff members were polite, helpful and extremely welcoming.
Cons: We believe the hotel to be very expensive compared to the many hotels we have stayed in around the world. The hotel seemed to understand-staffed. During our stay there only appeared to be one staff member working at a time, except at breakfast when there was a very helpful lady assisting. There was no onsite restaurant or bar, the limited drinks selection was served from a small kitchen. The pool area/garden is looking rather tired and is in need of some TLC.
9,6 Excellent
Pros: Lovely hotel, charming setting, the pool is welcome, rooms are very well equipped and quite stylishly done out. Clost to centre of Amboise, very helpful staff. Definitely recommend as a base in Amboise
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Great find, beautiful building, very friendly staff.
7,9 Good
Pros: Spacious room (number 8) in attic with lovely views out skylight windows to the town, trees and the Royal Chateau. Very large and well-appointed bathroom. Quaint and charming old building in quiet area, with a lovely garden and swimming pool. Convenient for restaurants and visiting the Chateaux.
Cons: Lift was out of order for first three days of our stay. Toilet was unreliable probably because of a water pressure problem, and despite notifying staff it was not fixed. We were advised that the swimming pool was not available until mid-June. Staff at reception constantly changed and were not very efficient.

Pros: Very nice place, country atmosphere, and quiet. Really pastoral. Very nice dining room to spend breakfast there. Very nice swimming pool. Nice and smiling staff - looks like a family business.
Cons: A room without windows. Very problematic and severely damaged the hospitality experience. Also, there is nothing in the room! No small refrigerator, self-made coffee set, it hurt the experience as well Breakfast is too sparse in products. No eggs or hot food at all. At the asking price, I would expect more

Pros: The pool! So nice to cool off after a long bicycle ride. The owners are very nice and helpful.
Cons: The Wi-Fi didn't work in room 3, although it worked elsewhere. The room was musty and felt damp. No AC so we borrowed a fan to get some air flow. There are no restaurants close by so if you are on bicycle food can be a challenge.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Peaceful setting. Convenient location.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: The setting and grounds were lovely. Very peaceful. Perfect for visiting the chateau Amboise. The staff were very helpful and made recommendations which made our stay all the better.
Cons: Sloping ceilings in the attic room would not suit a tall person.
5,0 Okay
Pros: Good location in countryside Bera Amboise and the castles
Cons: Towels were dirty and old. With 43 degrees Celsius they put blankets on the bed, no air conditioner o fun. Really hot, a lot mosquitos, with no mosquito net. We asked for towels for the pool (tiny) and they tolds us to get the bathroom towels, without giving to us other towels. The garden of the pool was not taken care. No umbrellas with a hot sun. The pictures of the hotel don’t reflect the reality at all in 2019. Expensive for a 3 star hotel, we paid 225 euros for 2 nights. For that price you can look for something better.
8,3 Excellent
Pros: The nature that surround the place is beautiful!!! The staff is very attentive.
Cons: The pool was not heated. Difficulties opening the room door. Old towels.
8,8 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful big corner room with a terrace and in a large private estate. It was 42 degrees when I arrived by bike and the air con was already on in the room. Very thoughtful.
Cons: It’s possibly a little remote for some without a car. I didn’t mind as I went to bed early.
6,3 Good
Pros: Nice and green setting not far from Amboise. Big double bed.
Cons: Although the bedlinen and the bathroom were clean, all the rest of the room had an inch of dust on it. In particular, the furniture definitely showed the signs of age and the whole room smelled musty and old, with several cobwebs around. It is a mystery to me how this property has such high ratings in terms of cleanliness. No air conditioning and wifi signal in the room was very weak, so I could barely connect. All in all, not good value for money.

Pros: Excellent restaurant and nice rooms
Cons: Checkin not till 6pm. We were unaware of this and arrived at 4pm after a long and tiring motorbike ride. The hotel was locked and dark. We managed to attract the attention of a waiter in the restaurant who was very unhelpful. Wouldn’t even allow us to leave our bags so we could go for a walk. We checked later and saw that this was on the booking confirmation, but this should be made clear on the hotel description.

9,2 Excellent
Pros: Fantastic location, easily walkable to all the main sights in Amboise. The room was an alright size and was clean. Hotel staff were helpful and friendly. There is parking outside of the hotel for free if you can find a space or you can pay 5 euros a night to park in the private garage just a short walk away. I thought it was a reasonable price for parking. Great hotel for the price.
Cons: Didn't have A/C in room so it is a bit hot although there is a fan. The window overlooked a courtyard so while it wasn't noisy really except for morning breakfast, it was a place people would smoke and it would come into the room.

Pros: Stuck the tourist in the "Annex" not happy about showing one thing on the website then being put out back with the other Americans tourists.
9,0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful manor and grounds with on-site parking. Excellent location easy walking distance to local attractions, restaurants and shops.
Cons: Nothing.
6,3 Good
Pros: The location of the hotel within sight of Amboise Chateau and the river was perfect and only a short walk into the city centre. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom was modern, clean and had everything we needed.
Cons: We didn't have breakfast in the hotel as it would have added an extra 17.50 euros each person per night to our bill. We were already paying almost 200 euros per night to stay there and felt extra for breakfast was a little unreasonable. There were no tea and coffee making facilities in our room which we would have expected. Coffee and tea were charged at 3 euros per cup so I guess this was another way to make money from us. We were not impressed with this. There wasn't even any bottled water provided. Toiletries were packaged in small single use containers which is not very environmentally friendly. Many hotels nowadays are moving away from using these single use containers and provide guests with larger multi use containers fixed to the wall instead.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: The location was fantastic as we could walk to dinner, drinks the Château Le Amboise as well as Château luc Clos. It was an easy drive to most of the nearby Chateau’s.
Cons: There was nothing about the property that I didn’t like it was all great as well as the gentleman running the front desk nothing was too much trouble. I would definitely recommend the accommodation.

Pros: Very attractive residence in great location with private parking. Easy to walk to all attractions. Staff were very welcoming and helpful throughout. Food excellent.
Cons: Nothing
5,0 Okay
Cons: The room in which we were placed was literally next to the reception desk, with a thin layer of wall separating us (obviously before it was a room, this place was somethig else). We had ZERO privacy as we felt like we were on reception desk duty all the time. The windows couldn't be opened because of the proximity to the reception and people were passing and or was next to the street. Above our room was a serviced place with non stop noise due to which we could not sleep. The bathroom towels were old and worn out. The conditions were not even fit for 2 star hotel.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent breakfast. Stylish period decor. Attentive personnel.
Cons: Car park is a bit tight for big vehicles.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: It is a beautiful building in a very central position. We have visited a number of times and stayed in various rooms, none have disappointed. We ate in the restaurant for the first time and enjoyed a very good meal with pleasant staff. It also has the benefit of private parking. In summary, lovely hotel and so peaceful in such a central location, highly recommended
9,2 Excellent
Pros: We loved the location of this hotel and the staff was helpful, friendly, and very attentive. The grounds are beautiful and parking is available. Our bed was very comfortable and we loved the large bathroom. Everything was spotless.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: The hotel is just a few minutes walk from the Chateau and town centre, on a quiet street. Parking is available on-site in the courtyard at no charge. The building has great character, recently renovated to a high standard. The staff were pleasant and helpful. I recommend this hotel wholeheartedly.
Cons: While the staff were more than helpful in serving drinks in the lounge, a separate bar would have been a better option.
9,6 Excellent
Pros: The room was excellent, the food very good and the staff friendly and very helpful.
Cons: Gateway into the property is very narrow for the larger modern car.

Pros: I liked the cleanliness and location. I liked that the rooms were updated. Only drawback was size and hairdryer was inadequate. But insignificant compared to the many positives.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: We liked that the location was fairly central and it was quiet at night. It was the best 2 nights of sleep that I've had in the 2 weeks we've been in France. Guys on reception were very friendly. Easy after hours access. Great internet.
Cons: The bedroom was on a little raised platform that we both kicked at least once and we were close to the staircase so got the vibration and noise from that. Room 21

Pros: It was an attractive building within walking distance of the quaint town/village. The hotel was uniquely decorated and well kept. The restaurant served good food in the evening with the staff being very attentive. Our room was a good size and comfortable. I would definitely stay there again if in the area.
Cons: The only drawback was there were no tea/coffee making facilities in the room but I believe this is normal practice in France.
4,6 Okay
Pros: The room decor was very French .
Cons: Le Choiseul is run down and in need of a facelift. The breakfast room is like a mid range bus tour hotel. The gardens are not well kept. Le Choiseul was a disappointment while Le Manoir de Minimies which is right next door, is superb and elegant.
9,6 Excellent
Pros: A stunning hotel in perfect location
Cons: It’s expensive
8,0 Excellent
Pros: We booked a regular room for 3 persons and received an upgrade to a junior suite, as the regular room didn' t have air conditioning. We very much appreciated this! The beds were very comfortable and the room very spacious. Beautiful pool and nice salon. Very friendly and very professional staff. Very close to the Chateau and the City.
Cons: I think the hotel is overpriced. It is an old building. Wi-Fi didn't work on the first day. Almost no sockets in the room. Cobwebs with big spider in front of our bedroom's window, so we didn't want to open the window. Breakfast also overpriced. 24 Euros for a small breakfast selection.
