Cons: There were only 13 parking spaces. When we registered we were not aware that we had to reserve a park place as well as a room. We had to park our car in a public lot located a half to three quarters of a kilometer away and walk to the hotel. We had asked to be able to check into our room an hour earlier than their posted 3:00 time. We received a message that we would be able to do that, that we could check in between 2:00 and 3:00. We got there and were told, in a not very friendly and welcoming way that check in time was 3:00 and we could not possibly get in earlier.

Cons: On arriving I parked in a public, pay parking area a street over from the hotel entrance. The young lady manning the front desk spoke no English and I had initial difficulty communicating. Fortunately she had a, pre-marked map showing how to get to paid, assigned hotel parking. A description of assigned parking and how to get to it provided with my original reservation material would have been helpful.

Pros: Rooms and linens were clean and fresh. Hotel is beautifully decorated starting from the front door all the way to little items placed into corridors and rooms. For comfort and convenience, there was a coffee machine and tea in the room, a great selection of drinks in the minibar, and all necessary toiletries beautifully laid out. Breakfast was an amazing buffet of well selected seasonal treats. Gluten free request was met with GF toast and freshly baked buns. Amazing! If you love reading books, book an extra day in this hotel - and maybe also pack along an extra book you just finished and wood like to share with someone. Location is great. All UNESCO World Heritage sites of old center of Wismar are within a 10 min walk.

Pros: If you are like us, travelling Europe with you favorit car and at the same time want to stay centrally, with a quality parking spot and at the same time walking distance to all the sights then this is the place. The room we stayed in and the breakfast served was good. But at the same time it only took a 5 minute walk to get into the old center of the town. There you will find both historical buildings and good restaurants. This place is highly recommended.

Cons: Shower leaked a little but Rita assured me this small problem will soon be fixed. However it was a really good shower and the bathroom suite was a nice style with plenty of soap, towels e.t.c.

Pros: Good secure storage for bicycles. Good wifi connection. Terrace where you can sit and eat your own food, or beers bought from vending fridge.
Cons: Poor value for money - the most we paid for a room on our trip (of one and a half months), for very basic accommodation. Even though we paid for a bigger room (as double rooms were sold out), it still felt cramped.

Pros: Breakfast unexpectedly good. Large choice of beverages and meals for adults and kids. Clever the dispensers for jam and honey, keep hands clean and kids don't make mess. Liked buns with hazel nuts - tasted them first time ever. Great fresh cheese. In the room there was clever remote control for curtains and window so you don't need to step over large double bed.

Pros: The bed was very comfortable and it was really quiet. The room was clean and the bathroom was cute (although small). The curtains and a window can be open/closed with buttons, which is nice.
Cons: The shower temperature could not be controlled easily. There should be some simple instructions provided on what to do. Unfortunately one only finds out at the end of the stay. Hints to guests planning to stay: Choose your preferred temperature and wait. Do not keep changing the temperature constantly. Regarding check in, it was cumbersome to use the self check-in machine next to the reception. It could have been easier via the normal reception check-in service. Reception was actually open till 10pm and not till 9pm, as indicated on the confirmation. We had rushed to the place but to find out that it was actually not too late.

Cons: We stayed in a double room. As said in the description, there should be wifi, but there was no signal in the room, not even a weak one. The public areas and reception closes at 9 p.m., so not even there it was possible to use wifi at night. If we knew that, we would not have spent so much money for staying in this hotel. Moreover, we did not arrive by car but by public transport and none of two receptionists could tell us about the way - line from/to the centre from/to the train or bus station, so we had to do quite laborious research on our own. (By the way, the next bus stop to the centre and the train station is not far away - just about 5-10 min walking...)

Pros: By far, the Staff is the best I’ve enjoyed at any hotel. Friendly, courteous and treating each guest like a revered family member. The rooms are well arranged, comfortable, clean and spacious. With a mini fridge packed with beers, snacks and wine. The Hotel breakfast and bar is outstanding. Exceptional quality food and service. Again, Very attentive Staff offering whatever you want. Definitely choose the hotel breakfast, with its huge spread for any style of eating you do. They also offer to make an omelet of your choice. The hotel is situated in front of the marketplace, with several restaurants and cafes to choose from. The sites and shops are all within walking distance, including the harbor where you can have a delicious Eis (ice cream is very popular in Germany). Although I didn’t get to it, they have a spa for stem baths. Check it out on your trip! Hotel Steigenberger is A+ #1 hotel!

Pros: Location was great! It was right in the center of the Old Town, so you had tons of coffee shops, restaurants and sightseeing highlights in just a couple of walking minutes. The reception is 24/7 open, so we had no problems with the arrival time (3 am) and the personnel was super friendly. Room was clean, the shower was very comfortable, bathroom was quite spacious and it had a mini bar in case you wanted to keep something cool. The hotel has a parking lot but in case it's full there are some other (cheap) public parking lots at walking distance from it.

Cons: on arrival i was given room 20 which has no curtains over the windows so i asked for a room which had them . the host said it was not possible as the house was full so i said i have arrived early before many other guests so it should be possible then i got room 10 which had curtains . no free welcome drink on arrival as stated on my benefits .

Cons: We had a hot day and no room had an air conditioning system. Our room underneath the roof was quite hot and the window had no handle to keep it steadily open. The parking was about 100 meters away on a yard opposite the one way street with only three very narrow lots. It was quite hard to access the car´ s doors in particular for the car parked in the middle.

Cons: Nobody was there when we arrived. The lady at the reception the next morning was only speaking German, no English. She couldn't help us with anything (for example she couldn't help on where to park our car, etc) Check out is very early (10 am) and it was not possible to leave our luggage at the reception for a few extra hours. On general, we felt like nothing was done to help us during our time there.

Pros: Based on some very bad reviews, we were curious about this place, but it is really ok, everything you really need and want is ok, people are really friendly and, yes, our room was clean. Good breakfast. I almost forgot, there are fridges and I think you could also prepare a meal yourself (we did not try it).

Pros: The woman running it is very nice, and provides a decent breakfast. She gave tips on what I could do and told me about little festivals in Wismar I could see, such as the kite festival. Whilst the bedroom and bathroom were basic, it was still reasonable for what you pay, and I had no problems at all. Would’ve preferred to say shampoo/shower gel, however I had some with me and I’m sure if I asked I would’ve been helped. I would stay back here again, especially if you’re a solo traveller. Breakfast was somewhat social with how the tables are, which made it even better to get some conversation in.

Cons: It is a bit far from the center of Wismar, so if you do not come by car or bíke, you have about 40 mins walking

Cons: It is not possible to pay with card as it is described here on booking.com, only cash payment. So I had to go to an ATM before checking in. The price, 91 euro a night without breakfast was a little steep for what you get, but I think it is because there are not so many hotels and guesthouses in central Wismar, so not very much competition.
