Convenient Bussing to UBC. Beautiful location with ocean walk nearby. Nice staff.
It wasnt 200$
Ancient Bathrooms and shower barely worked
1) Price. 2) I was late for one day, so I wrote to ask to keep my reservation. They did. 3) Some people from the staff were very pleasant. Even after I moved out, they kept my mail, so I was able to collect it several days after. 4) There is a very nice cafe in the right part of the hostel. They cook very well.
There was no breakfast in the hostel. The rooms were not cleaned regularly. The toilet paper and sheets were absent sometimes. A couple of days there was no hot water. The laundry room was dirty. Besides, there is always a lousy mobile connection in that area. I had only 2 messages on the screen of my phone: "Emergency calls only" and "No network". I missed several important calls. The hostel is only acceptable if you have a car to travel otherwise you have to walk a long distance to transport. Personnel: some of them were very nice people but others - not. For example, a guy in the reception always gave me false information: 1) "Do you have a spray bottle?" - "No". In fact, there was. 2) "May I have a new towel?" - "Here you are". It turned to be a carpet.
It was nice experience
The location was perfect, it was close enough to downtown but far enough away that it was extremely quiet. Beach was a two minute walk away. Wonderful food options on 4th and on Broadway. Would definitely stay there again.
There weren't any plugs near the beds in the first dorm I stayed in, but the staff charged my devices so it wasn't all bad. Just a minor inconvenience.
