Pros: The buildings are so beautiful. The room is larger than I thought and the environment is so relax. I hardly recommended to visit with elderly. They will love it.
Cons: Very sad that the restaurant did not available during our staying and the restaurant around also closed in a early time so we need to rearrange our dinner time.
Pros: Lovely onsen, excellent location and great staff. Kusatsu onsen is an amazing town! The breakfast was great, and we enjoyed the foot spa and coffee area!
Cons: The lowest setting in the heater in the room was extremely hot, so at night it was either way too cold, or too hot. The room was also quite small. We didnt have our room made up on the first night so we also didnt get sheets for our futons
Pros: A charming traditional Japanese hotel, location is great, right next to the park, about 15-20mins, depends on your walking speed on foot to the bus station, love the onsen, didn’t have to use the en-suite shower at all, it was snowing quite heavily and it was so nice to be in the outdoor onsen at the time; the staffs are very polite, courteous and attentive, shuttle service is much appreciated!
Cons: The breakfast & dinner aren’t always available so do check with the hotel beforehand.
Pros: The property is very well located, very nice onsen in the hotel as well, the staff is very friendly The breakfast is really worth it.
Pros: Traditional breakfast amazing. The traditional vibe everywhere
Cons: Some of the personal knows none english. But some do!
Pros: Location is good near shopping street. Staffs are nice and can speak good English. Will come again.

Pros: Onsen and buffet were absolutely amazing!
Pros: Big room
Cons: The balcony bath tube is not a real onsen.
Pros: new roomfacility
Cons: A two class society hotel (main building "3 stars" / maybe tower building "5 stars") Room: 1) the bathroom got no new facility "make-up" 2) the room comfort was bad (no carpet, no bedside table, no clock) 3) hairdryer and cosmetics are outside from bathroom, sometimes no refill 4) only coffee mugs, no drinking glass Hotel: 1) no multi language hotel, informations are not written in english 2) Buffet was sufficient but not very tasty and every day the same one 3) Pool is only open at "holiday season" also closed when outside 30°C
Pros: - Very spacious, we ended up in a room big enough for possibly 8 people. (we had two toilets between the two of us) - Older bathroom style, however with the hotspring, we never used the bathroom. Toilets were clean. - Great little town to explore, short walk from the centre of the town. - Buffet dinner and breakfast were great, lots of choice. - Hotsprings were spacious and never overly crowded. - There was a drum performance every night. - We were very comfortable. - Great staff.
Pros: Hot spring is excellent. Room is comfortable. It takes about 10 minutes to 湯畑 by walk.
Cons: Dinner is ok.
Cons: Buffet dinner isn’t too tasty Prefer set dinner such as sukiyaki instead
Pros: Everything is comfortable ,except no WiFi in room .

Pros: Felt very welcome by the staff and the room was comfortable. Welcome snacks and a large TV. The public bath is 24 hours.
Cons: No private shower but as mentioned, the baths downstairs is open 24 hours.
Pros: I love this place. Will surely come back in our next vacation. The owner is fluent in English and has very good service mind. He could give us useful informations. The ryokan is not located right at the town center but in walking distance. So it could provide peaceful moment and nice view. We had wonderful & relaxing time there!! :D
Pros: If you want a family run ryokan in Kusatsu with friendly English speaking staff then look no further. The facilities were as you would expect of a ryokan and the onsen was very relaxing! When I return to Kusatsu with friends I’ll be staying here again for sure!
Pros: The room is very nice and traditional. I was provided with the traditional gown which looks very nice. Staff are very friendly and can speak excellent English. The young owner has studied and lived in the UK so lots to talk about.
Cons: All good.
Pros: The hosts are lovely people, and the onsen is excellent. We had a wonderful time!
Pros: Good natural onsen, excellent breakfast, peaceful, great customer service
Pros: Lovely private baths and beautiful room
Pros: I had a wonderful time staying in this Ryokan, thanks to very friendly and kind staff. They can speak English and are very helpful. The hotel is a traditional Ryokan and in a very convenient location. I would totally recommend this place, if you are staying in Kusatsu.

Featured amenities include dry cleaning/laundry services, a 24-hour front desk, and luggage storage. This hotel has 5 meeting rooms available for events. Free self parking is available onsite.
Pros: We stayed here for 3 nights and what we love here most is the All-you-can-eat dinner. Main dishes are Beef Steak and Boiled Crab legs. Although, you can refill you soda, coffee and ice cream, you can also pay extra for an all-you-can-drink extra menu. The room we stayed is the Japanese style room; that is very large and has separate tea room, closet and main sleeping room. The hotel is away from the town, but hotel has free shuttle bus for hotel guest. There is a game room and vending machines at the hotel, in case you need some snack. The public onsen room is quite large and clean. We also rented a private onsen room; which has a seating area and outdoor bath inside the room. You can enjoy drinks tea or anything in the private onsen room. However, you need to make a reservation at check in. Next to the front counter, we can go outside and rent snow sledge (for a fee) to play in Winter.
Cons: My personal experience during check in was not so happy. No one was helping us on the luggages from the cars when check in. The guy from hotel came to see and did not say anything and left. In our room, there is a small garden in front of the toilet. The floor from main room to the toilet is batten floor that has space between small pieces of wood. It was quite hard to walk on it and there were some garbages underneath it. Don't forget Japan electric adapter. The A/C is an traditional system that has switch that can turn off-low-med-high type. During the winter, the A/C might turn to heater. However, we opened the window to let the cool air come in instead. Breakfast was quite the same everyday for us. Public onsen room is quite far to get in. First you have to take off your shoes and put in the locker, then walk some distance to the main bath. The view from private onsen room is the building next to the hotel. There was a refrigerator and tea pot inside the room, but there was no water, tea or coffee prepared. And I wish that the view from private onsen room should be better.
Pros: Location, staffs
Cons: We stayed in Deluxe Japanese room with tatami. It was old. The room was not good. Not worth our money. Especially bathroom was old and narrow. My husband is only 5.9’ his head almost hot the bathroom ceiling. So I complained with front desk staff and she compensate one more room called deluxe western. This room type is ok. Not old and bathroom was quite practical.
Pros: We upgraded to Japanese restaurant, where service and food are excellent. Location is near the skiing place with free shuttle service every 15 minutes in the peak time. The hotel also provide free shuttle to and from the bus terminal and central place, every convenient.
Pros: Accessible location and close to other sight seeing points
Cons: Dinner arrangement, I have to wait for more than 30 mins to enter the restaurant for dinner. If the 1st session is overbooked, it is better to advise the customer to join 2nd session.
Pros: - the overall atmosphere of the hotel during xmas was nice - the shuttle bus to the town was convenient - many onsens (indoor, outdoor, jacuzzi, sauna) - the buffet was good
Pros: Room is clean and comfortable, onsen both indoor & outdoor are great. Foods are variety.
Cons: We didn't know half the ski runs haved been closed for over 1 year due to volcanic eruption.
With a stay at Hotel New Koyo in Kusatsu, you'll be steps from Jōshin'etsu-kōgen National Park and a 1-minute drive from Kusatsu International Ski Place. Free self parking is available onsite.
Pros: Rooms were clean and view from room was good
Cons: Breakfast was not that great
Pros: Very good view over look the skiing field. We were there on 2nd March and had a first class view of the fireworks. Love it
Cons: There's no non-smoking room. So the room will have cigarettes smell
Pros: Nice onsen with a view included!
Cons: Dinner was mediocre, rather eat in the city center. Breakfast was ok.
Pros: perfect hospitality
Cons: a little far from Kusatsu bus terminal
Cons: poor facilities and cleanliness doesnt deserve the cost and stay
Pros: Nice place. Dinner and onzen are very good.
Pros: I didn’t expect both dinner and lunch to be included in the price, so that was a great surprise! The quality and spread of the food were great as well. Great view from outside my bedroom window.
Cons: Distance was a little far from the bus terminal (expect uphill and downhill slopes) but for the price, it is acceptable.
Pros: We stayed here for one night on 3 Jan but booked early enough to enjoy a very good rate. It’s half board and thus included breakfast and dinner in buffet. Variety of food was plenty and quality average. Unlike some reviews, there were hot food as well as hotpot during dinner and staff quickly refilled popular items. It’s good value in light of the reasonable rate. Room was of good size. It was old and tired but as a practical hotel it was all that I have expected.
Cons: Timing for meal was quite limited with one hour for dinner and 50 minutes for breakfast. Exact time for meal may change and you better check it out if you plan to arrive after 17:30. The onsen both indoor and outdoor were giant but a bit too hot.
Pros: Loved the view and quietness
Cons: The food was ok
Pros: Fair price, spacious and comfortable room, good public bath
Cons: Dinner/breakfast buffet offered plenty of food but the quality was so-so. Can’t complain for the rate I got, though.

Pros: The breakfast was sooooo delicious!!!!
Pros: The only thing good is they have own private onsen
Cons: The owner and the staff were unfriendly especially the nepalese staff.
Pros: Nice onsen. It's great you can use them privately in the evening. Good food.
Pros: Awesome, great home cooked meals, very nice baths and very helpful staff. We asked for help in confirming the bus schedules the night before our journey out from Kusatsu. Knowing we could be a little tight on time if we walked to the bus terminal after breakfast at 8am, owner drove us there the next day. It was a huge relief and very much appreciated. We had a wonderful stay at Kusatsu Kiyoshigekan, many thanks to great service staff there!
Cons: No elevator. It's normal and standard not to have any in a small ryokan, but it was a little tiring carrying our luggage up and down as we were on 2 week journey and had to pack in more things than usual.
Pros: Overall it was ok. Quiet, good location. But nothing special.
Cons: I found an appropriate temperature only in one private onsen which might not be free if there are a lot of people. Other onsens are too hot or too cold. Breakfast/dinner for 4000 yen is too much! You can find the same food 3 times cheeper in the town.
With a stay at Kusatsu Onsen Hotel Resort in Kusatsu, you'll be in the mountains, steps from Jōshin'etsu-kōgen National Park and a 4-minute drive from Kusatsu International Ski Place. Featured amenities include luggage storage and a vending machine. Free self parking is available onsite.
Pros: Very good breakfast, a little far from yubatake but shuttle bus is available at certain times to take you there and the bus station.Very good service.
Cons: The hotel is older and needs renovation but I think the value is good.
Pros: The Onsen was great but lacked maintenance - tiles missing and in need of much work. Just be careful as they swap Onsen rooms by moving the coloured banners. The 1st visit I went to one room for men only but the next day the same room was for ladies only as the management had moved the banners - very confusing.
Cons: All rooms were smoking but the room was sort of OK after requesting deodoriser. The carpets, skirtings, in fact everything needed maintenance or touching up. It would take very little to improve this hotel 10 fold but the management has become slack.
Pros: Nice accommodation. the out bath was beautiful.
Pros: Service ok, english is bad, hotel is old, with the smell of cigarette in the room and elevator. The location is not the best, and they called us 3 times in 40min to check out (hotel was apparently empty). I don't recommend this place for the price we paid!
Pros: Onsen hotel in reasonable price, tradition Japanese style hotel, shuttle bus is provided to the main street , bus terminus
Cons: not recommend to walk to the hotel from main street / bus terminus during the snowy season since the hotel is located in a slope apart from the main street, so the only public transport is shuttle bus, normally an hour interval
