The staff were all absolutely amazing, especially Andreea on reception, who did everything possible to make sure that our stay was enjoyable. I visited having purchased a Dinner, Bed and Breakfast stay, and it was all lovely. Dinner was amazing, with steak even included in the prepaid dinner menu. Breakfast had a great selection of meats, cheeses, pastries, cereals etc, and also included a hot option from the kitchens.
If I’m being picky, the room was a little tired in places. The curtains needed more hooks at the top, so that they hold properly, and block out the light. The blinds in both the bedroom and bathroom look a little plain and old, and not in keeping with the rest of the property.
Lovely building and grounds.
Car parking was very confusing - it was pouring with rain and pitch black and having struggled to reception with my bags I was told my room was a distance away and I could park there. Having moved the car I realised it was parking on grass which I didn't want to risk with torrential rain overnight so I had to move my car back to the original spot. The room was so far away from the restaurant in the rain I was put off going, so went hungry. Then the shower flooded out into most of the bathroom!
The breakfast was excellent as was the dinner. The staff in the restaurant are excellent.
The fire alarm went off twice, once in the early evening and once at 0127 in the morning. That was not good at all.
Lovely grounds. Good food. Large room
Slow reception service
The Maitre D' in the restaurant is superb; knowledgable and helpful. The food was very good indeed and the dinner included in the package was from the a la carte menu, rather than a set one, which was great. Breakfast was outstanding and the bar staff and ambiance good. The grounds are lovely, as you would expect as they were designed by Capability Brown. A tiny negative was that the wet room floor became a little too wet, and the extractor fan didn't work in the bathroom, but overall, a great short stay.
