Cons:The rental agent at the Dublin airport counter refused to allow me to decline their additional coverage, even after I showed them a letter from AMEX confirming that I was covered by my credit card. They used very high pressure tactics to try to sell additional insurance (about 50% of the base cost of the rental). I wound up walking away and renting from Budget who did not attempt to sell unnecessary coverage. Will not rent from Sixt so long as this is their policy. I can't speak to the comfort/cleanliness of the car as I never picked it up - there is no "N/A " option so I checked Okay for these factors. .Reviewed Sep 12 2018

Our rental was cancelled without refundCons:When we approached the counter at the Dublin Airport all went wrong from the beginning. We had to wait a long time and after all this waiting we were told our booking was not right and they will not refund us. We had to hire a car again and we ended up paying 5 times more then expected - 160€ for the online reservation that they canceled plus almost 800€ for the car rent. My suggestion would be, never book through this site. They ruined our whole holiday within the first hour of our stay in Ireland. Not really the honeymoon you would expect.Reviewed Jul 2 2018

they did not give me a carCons:they were saying 2 years old licence is not enough to rent a car. Even though I have been renting car for last 1 year and at least 300 days I have used rental car from Budget, Europecar, Hurtz, Enterprice, Easirent & dan dooley.Reviewed Dec 25 2017

Pros:Pickup and drop off points were at the best location possible, ''City Center''. The car was very well maintained and every aspect of it was thoroughly checked before it was rented to me. The staffs were very hospitable and helpful.Reviewed Mar 11 2019

Very bad experiencePros:NothingCons:The employee refused to rent me a car with reason that the caution (money blocked on my visa) could be refused in Ireland. I would have provided a letter from my bank attesting Ireland is covered. I proposed to use my american express, same story. I called American Express, they didn't believe it. They suggested me to make a complain to service provider Kayak. The main reason behind that i got an excellent deal with kayak, about 50€ for 5 days car renting. Now good deal or not when you cannot rent the car??? By the way, the name of renting car company in Dublin is SIXT. Avoid this company. I didn't talk about the 2 waiting hours to have a chance to talk to agent, he was so incompetent, previous customers before me didn't believe it too.Reviewed Jul 27 2016

Just don't rent a car with SixthPros:Sorry but really nothing. Even the car was quite old 57 000 kmsCons:Long queue for pick up : more than an hour I was compelled to take extra insurances to get the car. If not they wouldn't give me the car. I had no other option as according to them my bank card (Premier Visa) was a debit card and not a credit card. However it's written credit card on it and furthermore I contacted my bank and they assured me my card was a credit card To pay for those extra insurances I had to use my friend's card (Premier MasterCard) but as the contract was made with my name, my friend had to be the second driver As a result the amount of my rental for 8 days was nearly doubleReviewed Aug 11 2017

Ridiculous insurance dramaPros:Spacious carCons:Refused to accept credit card insurance without an hours worth of phone calls and emails. This stuff should be standard. Felt like a ploy to sell $1,000 worth of unnecessary insurance. Renault engine stop/start is dangerous. Once stopped, engine is unavailable when it is time to enter intersection. By the time the car moves it is too late. This feature can be disabled, but each time the car is turned on it is re-enabled. Default should be to have it disabled. I am happy to save gas but would much rather stay alive.Reviewed Jul 23 2018

Misinformation about depositCons:Car tires were bald and car was banged up pretty good. Very poor selection and there was complete misinformation about their policy of holding €5,000 as a deposit despite my going to the trouble of providing proof of international collision insurance. Sixt’s own website said the €5,000 deposit would NOT be required when waiving Sixt’s optional Insurance only if I provided proof of acceptable insurance—which I did—yet they still held €5,000 in my credit card. As anyone traveling for pleasure understands, this HUGE, completely unnecessary hold after I provided proof of $50,000 collision coverage really screwed up our budgeting for our trip and made things much more stressful. I will never rent from Sixt again.Reviewed Nov 26 2018

Bait and switch at the airportPros:The Sixt employee who helped me to document all the scratches, dents and damage on the car.Cons:My reservation confirmation said "Here's how simple it is: Submit driver's license and ID... Submit a means of payment... Take your keys and drive off". They neglected to say that they wouldn't accept the insurance cover through my credit card unless I had a written confirmation from the issuer, and that they wouldn't proceed with the paperwork without CDW and theft cover being accepted. On a busy holiday weekend I was left with a choice of accepting coverage I didn't need or trying to find another company that had a car available. The car was OK but had a lot of undocumented damage.Reviewed Jun 5 2017
