The Beekman, A Thompson Hotel - New York - Bedroom
1
9,1 Excellent (4 002 reviews)
R5 698+
Overview Reviews
Nestled in the epicenter of Lower Manhattans vibrant new downtown lies New Yorks last hidden architectural treasure - The Beekman a Thompson Hotel. One of Manhattans first skyscrapers the heart of this iconic building is its extraordinary nine-story Victorian atrium and majestic pyramidal skylight. Originally the site played host to many milestones including New Yorks debut of Shakespeares Hamlet and the famed Clinton Hall a library where writers such as Edgar Allen Poe honed their craft.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Clean and great costumer service
8,8 Excellent
Pros: A charming downtown boutique hotel and is close to various transport hubs (Fulton St, WTC). The atrium is stunning and has to be seen to be believed. Old school room but the amenities are modern. Turndown service came with a small chocolate. Great value for money.
Cons: Arrived a bit early at noon and was promised that the cleaning of the room would be expedited and would get a text to let me know once it's ready. Unfortunately, never got that text! Arrived back later than the advertised check in time of 3 PM (around 3.45 PM) and the room still wasn't ready! This was resolved however.

Pros: Nice hotel in good location. Excellent design and beautiful building and layout. Small rooms, no coffee in room and rather expensive.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: We stayed here last year for our wedding and came back for the 5 star service for our wedding anniversary.
Cons: For those looking to pay a premium...book a studio suite or larger. The terrace suite was nice...but small.
6,3 Good
Pros: Hotel room decor is fantastic.
Cons: Luke on reception was not welcoming, this is my 4th stay at this hotel, most hotels would say welcome back no not Luke, I arrived at 9pm and asked if the restaurant Augustine was still open he said not thinks it’s closing without even ringing to check. I went to my room went on line and booked a table at Augustine for 930pm when I get to the restaurant they said they take order till 10pm.

Pros: The staff was helpful and responsive. The hotel was really beautiful and very clean. Turndown service with water and chocolate was a nice treat. We would definitely stay at the Beekman again!
Cons: Everything was perfect.
9,6 Excellent
Pros: I had an amazing stay. The staff were amazing and all my experiences were five stars. The location is in the financial district which I loved since it’s downtown yet quite. You are near the blue and green line making it easy to get around. Also you are a five minute walk (if that) from the Brooklyn Bridge.

With a stay at The NoMad Hotel, you'll be centrally located in New York, steps from 5th Avenue and 3 minutes by foot from Madison Square Garden. Featured amenities include limo/town car service, express check-out, and complimentary newspapers in the lobby.
9,0 Excellent
Pros: Close to subway Lovely rooms
7,1 Good
Pros: Staff. Room. Bars.
Cons: That my email reply to "Theodora" on 8/1 to include my finance Meg Harris to my reservation, didn't happen. She arrived before me with her wedding dress in hand along with a number of other things, and wanted to check into our room before her fitting and it wasn't taken care of. She and the person at the front desk had to call me while I was approaching the Holland Tunnel to sort it out. It was bad.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: The NoMad hotel is at the heart of NYC. Great Matcha and coffee next door. Great restaurants scattered all around the hotel. The NoMad restaurant has been our favorite for breakfasts. The stuff, door Men are extremely friendly and helpful. We have been staying at the NoMad for he past 4 years during our annual visits. We will continue to stay here in the future.
9,6 Excellent
Pros: Location, nice beds and linens, and nice big shower. Also there is a great restaurant that stays open late and a huge bar. It’s dark and quiet but still a busy happening place...
Cons: I wasn’t really a fan of the bath tub in the room and no privacy getting out of the shower. Also I wish the window to the street had a sheer curtain so we didn’t have to totally close the black out curtains when in the room. But it wasn’t too big a problem since we were gone almost all day anyway...
9,0 Excellent
Pros: Charm and class
Cons: No available roof top
9,6 Excellent
Pros: The bed was super comfy, room was very clean and loved the library that is reserved for guests since the bar can get very crowded. Beautiful room.
Cons: I stayed in a suite that had many windows and it was pretty loud. Lots of street noise.
6,3 Good
Cons: I stayed in the hotel for 10 days and unfortunately, this was one the worst hotel experiences ever. For starters the staff were very aggressive and at times quite rude. But what ruined the whole stay and was a direct offense to myself and my religious belief was the the incident where I ordered dinner at my room from the room service and I clearly stated that I don’t want any bacon in the sandwich. However to my extreme surprise one half of the sandwich had a small hidden piece of bacon, and after calling the room service to complain the man simply laughed when I was furious which is not a way to handle a complaint.

9,2 Excellent
Pros: Artsy. Nice size room and bathroom.
Cons: A wee bit dark
8,3 Excellent
Pros: Location is perfect- a minute away from subway. It is in an up and coming neighborhood, lots of good coffee shops, restaurants and bars. (You feel the gentrification around, I don't know if it is a good thing for everyone though.) Cool design and vibe. People hanging out around (bar, library) are good crowd, you can even spot celebrities or high profile businessmen.
Cons: Noisy. First, I would have appreciated a warning regarding the ongoing construction across the street, windows are not sealed enough. Second, as it is a popular spot in town, rooms close to rooftop can be noisy even after midnight. You would expect to have breakfast included in that price range. Again, for this price, I would have expected better quality bathroom amenities and stuff like tootbrush etc.
9,2 Excellent
Pros: It a fav
Cons: Nothing

Pros: Great location, amazing rooms, great bar and the most comfortable bed I’ve ever slept in!
Cons: Nothing.

Pros: Location is great for easy manhattan, close to 5th and various offices for my work. Rooms are very comfortable. Views are nice. Breakfast was very tasty, consistently.
Cons: The rooms are a bit dated but still very nice. I didn't feel the lounges had a great vibe but still relaxing. I do think the rooms need refurbishment. The breakfast was very expensive for what it was.

Pros: Location and friendly helpful staff
Cons: Nothing !!!
3,8 Mediocre
Pros: Nothing, this was the worst hotel I’ve ever stayed in
Cons: Filthy, saw a cockroach in the room and old gum stuck on the surface from previous guests. Housekeeping doesnt pick up the trash and left empty water bottles in the bedroom. Security guard caused a scene and I had a creepy incident with him. The TV in the bedroom doesnt work. The wifi is inconsistent. And its too expensive for a 3 star hotel with services of a 1 star inn.
9,6 Excellent
Pros: Lovely helpful staff, great location and comfortable beds.
Cons: Nothing
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Everything was great from the moment we arrived! Only criticism was bathroom is way too small
Cons: Bathroom way to small
8,8 Excellent
Pros: Lobby was beautiful! The room was nice, clean, and spacious. Beds were bigger than I expected, and sheets were very soft. Staff was pleasant and I was always greeted when I walked by one.
Cons: Bathroom was a little small to my liking.
7,5 Good
Pros: Location Large rooms
Cons: Very small bathrooms Staff entirely indifferent
8,0 Excellent
Pros: I like the location; easy to walk to park and museums. I also walked to Broadway Shows although if it had been hot I would have taken a taxi to the shows. Convenient grocery right across the street. The staff is professional and very helpful. The room was clean and well appointed.
Cons: Make sure you put on the extra lock on because the cleaning crew will walk in on you if you don't.
8,3 Excellent
Pros: Convenient location close to main subway - 72th Street spacious and very comfortable suites - well presented and modern feel - we had a very pleasant stay - separate bedroom / living room with full kitchen. Helpful & courteous staff !
Cons: Very disappointing !! Mishap over airport shuttle bus - which had been booked via hotel concierge for collection 3.05 pm on Tuesday 10 Sept to take our 3person party to Newark flight 7.20 pm (with Air link) - no service turned by 3.40pm had to have a taxi ordered at an additional $45 - full fare ( $108.50 instead of $63) had to charge to credit card as didn’t have sufficient dollars - left a bad taste - after an otherwise pleasant stay
5,8 Okay
Pros: The location was great, next to the theater we were going to.
Cons: The room was too used, old, needs update. The remote didn't work for most of the stay. The carpet is worn, wall paper old and seams showing, vending is located in a dark area on a different floor. There was no complimentary water and there was black flecks coming out of the bathroom sink. Not enough outlets.

Pros: I loved it
Cons: I live the property
5,8 Okay
Pros: good location!
Cons: wi-fi is not free.
7,9 Good
Pros: Location was fine for me, close to Grand Central. Hotel facilities were good: lobby, restaurant and bar were fine, specially Irish bar on the ground floor. Rate was reasonable
Cons: My room looked a bit tired. I would recommend some renovation for the room to be worth of really good 4* hotel
9,2 Excellent
Pros: The staff were, to a fault, excellent. They were all friendly, efficient and helpful. The room was spacious and the hotel itself was lovely. The hotel bar is good.
Cons: It was advertised beforehand (so it wasn’t a nasty surprise) but the fact that WiFi costs $15 per day is pretty woeful. Also, the facilities in the gym are not on-site and the pool/sauna/steam room were out of use during my stay. Can’t blame the hotel for that but the fact that it’s out of their control could be worth keeping in mind.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: They had a very nice staff.
6,3 Good
Pros: Good size room for NYC. Great Location in midtown.
Cons: Smell of dampness every where in the hotel but especially in the room.. noisy AC the trigger a bed smell of mold. The bath towels were probably white once .. not any more .. now they are grey.
4,5 Okay
Cons: Non blackout curtains on a large window facing a commercial building w lights on all night! Incredibly difficult to sleep in such circumstances. Very poor sound insulation as well. Could hear perfectly clear conversations from down the hall.
3,8 Mediocre
Pros: Location is good, as with the many other hotels in the same area. Check out was quick, as it should be. Aircon was quiet and effective. TV worked.
Cons: Drab and dark rooms, beyond just the usual blah. No character because the promised Irish charm is lost in a fog of mediocrity. Room might as well have had no windows -- the one tiny window looked into the wall of another building. This all made the small room feel even smaller. Worn mattress, soft and lumpy. Stained carpet. Tiles on bathroom floor were chipped in many places. Could not set clock to correct time (housekeeping should do this). This is an ultra low budget hotel on quality and upkeep, but not on price. I will try something else for my next trip to NYC.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: The style of the hotel is amazing and how clean and organized everything is lovely!.
9,6 Excellent
Pros: Great staff, knowledgeable and helpful, great suggestions and willingness to help getaround New York!
10,0 Excellent
Pros: NY is big, so one is to be smart when choosing the location of the hotel. The Fizpatrick is very conveniently located, you walk less than a minute to enter GST and from there you can go wherever you want. The hotel is neat, proper, rooms are bigger than the usual Manhattan standard. Staff is kind and professional, attentive to customers needs. And the complementary access to the fitness center is a huge bonus. Highly recommended!
Cons: Nothing.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Great location. Great bathroom. Great staff.

Cons: Nothing to complain
9,6 Excellent
Pros: Most of the staff was extremely nice and helpful in answering all questions they were asked. The accommodations were very nice and clean. Breakfast was amazing in the selection offered.
Cons: Self service parking shouldn't cost as much as it does. The self park shouldn't only cost 7 dollars less than valet. The staff wasn't exactly up front with the cost of parking, it seemed as if valet was $27/day and self service was a minimal charge, however, self service was $27/day and valet was $35/day.

Cons: I paid top dollar for Central Park view room. Unfortunately the room was on the 5th floor so all I saw was the trees right in front of our room. 5,0 Okay
Pros: Room size Checkin with Paulina Maintenance guy very friendly
Cons: Lying about property details on the phone prior to booking about essentials like black out curtains which was a precondition for us to make the booking. Staff did not want to remedy, manager on duty being rude and having way too much attitude, we suggested solutions like additional curtains but they just offered us to cut short the stay and leave (we did get refund upon insisting though) We felt we could have found a solution but the manager (Victoria I think her name was) gave us such attitude and in an absolutely unacceptable way that we didn’t have a choice but leave. Paulina at check in was very friendly though but didn’t have the power to resolve. The room condition was way below expectations and pictures are photo shopped, covering up run down room condition. AC was making loud funky sounds, upon check in we waited an hour for it to be fixed and dealt with the maintenance guy who was friendly though (after a 15h flight it was very tiring regardless and having to leave and look for a new hotel unshowered and tired and my wife pregnant was really not cool) Kimpton Not again for us for sure
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Happy hour (free wine), also free bike rental. Got a room on the 21st floor looking at the empire state tower.
Cons: Everything was great.
8,0 Excellent
Pros: Location was great.
Cons: Young lady at check in was not very professional... a bit snobby when answering questions, even as I was being polite and jovial... bad day or not, it's all about service and experience... Hope it improves or was a one time occurrence.
7,5 Good
Cons: Not too customer oriented - didn’t put customer first
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Great breakfast buffet and otherwise. Perfect location.
Cons: leaving!
7,9 Good
Pros: The hotel gave us some complimentary champagne, fruit, cupcakes and water. King room and particularly the bathroom were spacious. West facing room could see the sun setting although not the nicest skyline view. Infused water available in foyer, and coffee in the morning. Also offered a drink hour in the evening.
Cons: Some areas of the room were dated. No free water bottles (aside from what was gifted later in the evening with the champagne and food). Our view wasn’t the greatest looking out to a backstreet, although my sisters upgraded room looked out 6th Avenue which was much better). Front desk could be more warm and welcoming.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: It was my girlfriend and I’s anniversary, and we were greeted with champagne on ice and cupcakes by melissa in a beautiful display. We also needed some unusual things sent to the room but they were 100% accomodating. Best hotel service I’ve ever received hands down!
Cons: The only thing that could’ve been better was the wifi being free and maybe the shower/bath having some sort of view
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Clean, roomy bathroom, very helpful and friendly staff and good location
9,6 Excellent
Cons: No kettle or coffee machine in the room and none available in the reception except at breakfast. Tea/coffee from the bar was expensive so we went over the road to a coffee shop to get drinks. When most hotels now provide these facilities for free in the room or reception this seemed a little behind the times.
4,2 Okay
Cons: Very noisy rooms, poor shower and air con didn’t work Better hotels in NY for same price

Pros: This was one of the better stays i've ever had in NYC. The location was great, the staff was great and we upgraded to a King Room with a view and it was worth every penny and more! I will be staying here again and would recommend to anyone.
Cons: Although I know parking isn't cheap, it's one thing I wish was included in the cost of staying. However their pricing was in line with close by parking spots.
9,2 Excellent
Pros: Proximity to great attractions; friendly staff; very accommodating staff..you only needed to ask for what you wanted and they were very accommodating. Great view from room.
Cons: No problems. Nothing to not like.

Pros: The staff was very friendly, though when I was told the room had a water view, I didn't realize you would have to stand on the couch to see it.

Pros: Location
Cons: Room with blocked view
8,8 Excellent
Pros: Location is super. Breakfast too expensive for what you get, especially for kids. When you book for family, please look very well what kind of beds you book, because our kids or 11 and 12 ended up on the caugh because the queensize beds are not very big.
Cons: Breakfast is standard, nothing special.
7,0 Good
Pros: Location was amazing!
Cons: I did valet parking. Upon leaving, I was handed my keys. I paid for valet, expected valet service. Fine, I can drive out of the lot. A car was blocking my spot, and had to wait for someone to move it. Subpar experience for a hyatt regency.

Pros: Hotel location is very closed to airport and also have shuttle bus to provide pick up and drop-off service. The room has big and clean.
Cons: Internet wifi service in room isn't free. but thank you to hotel staff that kindly waive for me.
8,3 Excellent
Pros: Extremely quiet for basically being inside the airport. Nice lobby, good bath tub. Really close to airport.
Cons: Seriously who is still charging for WiFi in 2019? Also, a couple of times I walked up to reception and was ignored or in one case the person actually walked away when I approached... Rooms very small compared to lobby. No mini fridge. For a married couple, they gave us two small beds (I want to say slightly smaller than normal full size) and we ended up sleeping separately for comfort.

Pros: THE PRICE WAS THE BEST PART ABOUT THIS HOTEL.
Cons: THE PARKING HAD TO PAY $32.50 FOR PARKING FOR 1 NIGHT STAY. WE HAD TWO CARS SO WE ENDED UP TAKING 1 CAR BACK HOME TO PARK WHICH WAS A 15 MINUTE DRIVE EACH WAY. THE SPACE IS NOT THAT BIG BATHROOM TIGHT. ONE STAFF MEMBER WAS NOT SO FRIENDLY.

Cons: Towel racks missing in Bathroom. Long wait for Shuttle pickup at airport.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: The staff are friendly, the place was clean and it was great value for money, I loved they had a shower head you can remove from the wall and wash your self over which is missing from a lot of places in the USA. Also the view from our room of the airport and Manhattan was Amazing!
Cons: Nothing!
9,6 Excellent
Pros: Super close to the airport which is why we chose it. The hotel itself is absolutely fantastic
9,2 Excellent
Pros: That it is so near to the airport.
Cons: The fireplace at the main lobby. Why would you want to have the fireplace at the lobby on the hot summer days and at the same time keep the air-conditioning? I think that is a real waste of energy.

Pros: Clean, quiet, great location.
Cons: Very expensive room service. Poor convenience store selections.

Pros: I like the location . I love the friendly staff! 100% friendly and kind .
Cons: Room was Too small , too old , tiny room with very old furniture . The bathroom was terrible . And I have this glass furniture/tables/nightstands . Oh sure - they will sell you water for $9 .. IRON was broken ! Steam is not working at all! About the view I paid for - the windows were so dirty ! It was disgusting . I can from Florida so I know what the humidity means , but this entire place smelled like a mold . And again - dark , not cozy at all ! Next time i go to another hotel for sure. 4,2 Okay
Pros: The area
Cons: The day shift front desk. My flight was delayed and my wife got there first. I sent an email asking if she can check in for me so she can get access to the room already. Beside this booking was already paid she offered her credit card with the reservation number. Filipino guy working at the front desk didn’t honor that and made a comment stating “What’s the email going to do?” He didn’t even offered my with to take a sit and wait at the lobby instead he sent my wife back to her car and told her to wait outside in the car. You guys really dropped the ball on customer service and cleanliness of the facility. The hallway carpets smells and filthy. I hope other guests don’t have to experience what we had been through. It’s a good area and we expect nice treatment from your property.

7,5 Good
Pros: La ubicacion
Cons: Very bad service at the check-in counter. They offered me a bottle of Champagne to be ready in my room at my arrival, it wasn't there, they said they'd sent one no charge. Never arrived. A lady called saying it was my fault because I checked in too early. Horrible.
6,7 Good
Pros: Location couldnt be better Friendly staff (except from the rude blond woman at the reception desk) Nicely decorated
Cons: Expensive for what you get: no natural light in the room (just a tiny window facing a tiny patio), super dark. Hotel is noisy, you can hear other guests walking around, elevators being called, and if room located in the top floor there is music going until late. Room size is decent, bathroom is tiny. Not a lot of space to save your staff. There are almost no common areas (at least at the time we write this).
10,0 Excellent
Pros: HGU Hotel is in an excellent location close to everything. Our room was very clean and comfortable. The staff were very very friendly and helpful.
9,2 Excellent
Pros: The Staff for super friendly and professional. They assisted us with every question we asked. The security was a great help with giving up directions on how to take the subway. We felt welcomed the moment we stepped foot inside the HGU!
Cons: I am sure that they did the best they could, with us being the last to check in, due to terrible shuttle service. But our view was us looking into other guests suites and at a brick wall.
8,3 Excellent
Pros: Small but comfortable with easy access.
Cons: Small bedroom with not much room to move around the bedroom and no outlook. Only thing visible from the window was the air vent.
10,0 Excellent

It's an older hotel, but we were never in the room but to sleep. Like I said, perfect for us! They even gave us a roll away bed whem we needed a solution.
Cons: Kayak offered me room preferences, like 1 or 2 beds. We had 3 people with us so I needed 2 beds. I wasn't notified we didn't get the 2 beds until we checked in!

Pros: Good amenities, extremely clean, fast WiFi. The operations manager - Yolanda is incredibly sweet and welcoming ready to assist with any problem or inquiry.
Cons: The reception staff is not well trained and doesn’t know how to approach business travelers. Upon arrival and during my stay I have been treated rather rudely by a receptionist whose name was Natalia which I attribute to lack of experience and proper training.

Pros: The room was beautiful the toiletries top quality. The dishes and glassware absolutely perfect. The front staff very polite.
Cons: The pool staff not kid friendly. The one Male watching the pool kept yelling at my kids about jumping into the pool. Not cool. They weren't diving just jumping in.
8,3 Excellent
Pros: The rooms are very spacious and you have the option of a little kitchen-net. For that we are peculiar about what we eat, was nice. Trader Joe’s is just two blocks down the street. They are super pet friendly and the SPA facilities are truly incredible, perfect after a stressful day walking around or working in the over crowed New York City.
Cons: We had a little issue with the air conditioner, we had to move 3 rooms but the staff and manager was very gracious and very fast with their response.
