Pros: The location of this quaint small hotel is excellent, with access to ferries right outside the front door. Our room was clean, spacious and bright with a view of the Rhine. The breakfast was truly amazing with everything from fresh fruit to homemade müsli and it was served in a cozy enclosed veranda overlooking the Rhine. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone traveling to this area.
Cons: There is really nothing I did not enjoy at this hotel. The only thing that could have been better is closer parking.

Pros: Food was exceptionally good. We tried most of the menu. Beer was great as was the wine. The staff were lovely and friendly and made us feel very welcome. We would recommend staying here. Great base to visit the beautiful area.
Cons: Nothing. Only slight niggle was the restaurant and bar were closed on the Wednesday evening we stayed. Whilst this was mentioned on a reception note it wasn't clear.

Pros: Staff were very welcoming and friendly. All meals to a very high standard. The perfect base to explore the area.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Great food and restaurant facility for evening meal and breakfast (although note the food standard is high so it is fairly expensive). Food and drink reflected the local region. Nice quiet location and plenty of car parking. Well located for anyone with a car for visiting the central Rhineland, Hunsruck and Eifel areas and in a village away from the main tourist areas.
Cons: Nothing for me; but people with mobility issues might need to know that there are plenty of steps up and down from the car parking.
Gasthaus Weingut Stahl - Oberwesel - Bedroom

R1 547+
Overview Reviews
With a stay at Gasthaus Weingut Stahl in Oberwesel, you'll be within a 10-minute drive of Falkenau and Pfalzgrafenstein Castle. Free self parking is available onsite.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: This was the best place we stayed on our trip. The family Stahl were AMAZING. We had biked/cried/climbed the monster hill to get to their place and were exhausted. They welcomed us with open arms, carried our things in, and expedited check in so that we could shower and still order food before the kitchen closed. Throughout the stay, everything was wonderful. The breakfast was delicious, fresh, and homemade. The neighborhood was beautiful, too. Highly recommend to all drivers and bikers (but only the ones more athletic than we were).
Cons: This place is built on top of a hill. When they say Rhine Valley, well, this is not the valley. This is the nice hill overlooking the valley. So, lovely bike rides down the hill. Less fun climbing back up the hill. Still, the scenery was gorgeous and I think we'd do it again, we liked it THAT much.
9,6 Excellent
Pros: Fantastic breakfast and dinner. Really enjoyed the wine tasting in the cellar. Many delicious wines
9,6 Excellent
Pros: Great welcome, spacious rooms. But so much more important at this establishment was the food. Dinner was delicious and pleantyful. I defy anyone to attempt two courses. Breakfast was exceptional, several tables were laid out with a vast choice of food. I really couldn't do it justice after having dinner.
Cons: Perfect, no problems at all.
10,0 Excellent

Pros: Great breakfast served by a smiling host. Just the thing to get your day off on a good start. Helpful in getting my bike locked in the garage. Town an easy five minute walk away.
Cons: Room was quite hot and I had to leave the window open fully. Got the trains and church bells loud and clear.

7,5 Good
Pros: Very nice people(Mr.and Mrs. Knab). Very friendly atmosphere. Nice suggestions for things to do.
7,5 Good
Cons: We tried to pay with a credit card which was not accepted by the owners. We had to go down to the village to get cash from the local bank. They should have told us that credit cards were not acceptable when we booked the rooms.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Warm welcome and friendly hosts. Nothing was too much trouble. Room was furnished to a high standard, spacious and very clean. We had a comfortable stay that exceeded our expectations. Breakfast was plenty, tasty and always came with a little chat about the plans for the day with little suggestions from the hosts. The location is quiet with stunning views and just a short walk from St Goar. We will definitely come back!
Cons: Nothing.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: So we stayed here as a couple and also took a separate smaller room for my mother. Our mini-apartment was really fantastic, separate from the main area, we had lovely facilities, even a living room! We had a very good nights sleep. The smaller room for my mother was perfect for her needs and clean and neat. We also enjoyed being able to look at the fantastic view up to the nearby Schloss (Castle). Although we didn't venture on a walk, there was a very nice looking one that coincided with the property. The breakfast we had included with our room was also great, lots of delectable choices :)
Cons: My Mother was unfortunate in that the other guests in her part of the GasteHaus had a bit of a party together out on the porch and didn't think of other guests being affected by their slamming doors etc, but thankfully that ended eventually. And that isn't the fault of the GasteHaus itself!

8,8 Excellent
Pros: Unlike many “Euroneutral” hotels this one is family run and homely
7,5 Good
Pros: Everything was fine overall: -clean as far as I cared to inspect. -decent shower -when wifi worked it worked well. -breakfast was good (not great)
Cons: Wifi a bit too unreliable. Small room for a double room. Balcony is great, but needs some maintenance. Noisy for outside noise with windows open, which after a hot day is needed, but acceptable. For the price I expected a more up to date hotel.
9,6 Excellent
Pros: Staff were very friendly and helpful and the food was excellent both breakfast and evening meal. Good parking.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent Sunday lunch. And breakfasts. Bed very comfortable slept better here than anywhere else on trip. We had a balcony on the corner overlooking the rhine. Staff were wonderfully friendly. Would come again.
Cons: Nothing
7,9 Good
Pros: Location, the Rhein being just across the road. Very friendly staff with good local knowledge. Very good restaurant with a wide selection of meals.
Cons: Train noise during the night hours. Small shower room, otherwise all satisfactory
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Location was beautiful, the service was very good and the room was very clean. The breakfast was just perfect. I'll definitely plan of coming here again.
6,3 Good
Pros: Very comfortable bed & pillows. Good breakfast
Cons: On arrival the entrance to the hotel was locked up & despite ringing the bell no-one came to the door. We had to telephone the hotel to gain access. A very pleasant young lady let us in & told us that her parents have Monday’s off & we should have had notification about this. (We had not been notified ) she showed us to our room which overlooked the river and had a small balcony. The shower room was extremely small but very clean. As a result of the owners not working the restaurant was closed.
9,6 Excellent
Pros: The landlord was very helpful and so the landlady and the staff. You really can see they love what they do.
Cons: We don't mind the little spider in the room but some people do. So if they could keep an eye on spiderwebs around lamps and corners .
9,2 Excellent
Pros: The couple who own the hotel were extremely helpful and informative. They even gave us ‘’tasters’’ to help us choose a local wine which we then ordered! Very convivial.

10,0 Excellent
Pros: breakfast was delicious, the staff was extremely nice and all in all the hotel is one of the most comfortable we've been to. The room was nice and clean and we appreciated the welcome coffee
Cons: the locks on the doors need to be repaired
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Right on the river.
9,2 Excellent
Pros: this was the second time in 6 months we had stayed at the Lilie it does what it says on the box. The location is great, the breakfast good, the staff friendly. The only downside, is the church bells sounding every 15 mins throughout the night which made sleeping difficult, but you cannot blame the hotel for that.
Cons: The bells not sounding every 15 mins throughout the night.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: The river view from the balcony! We stayed in the last few days of October so we kept the balcony door shut at night to keep out the cold and did not hear any noise from the river traffic mentioned by other reviewers. Also there might have been fewer board in general in late October, I'm not so sure. Every staff I met was very polite and helpful. I was not able to speak a lick of German but the receptionist (owner?) spoke very good English and made me feel very welcome :) The VRM guest ticket, which is given by every hotel in Boppard is very useful. You get to travel on all the buses and trains in the VRM region for free!
Cons: We stayed for 4 nights, so we found the breakfast selection to be a little limited and wished there were more variety. If you're only staying for a night or two it shouldn't be a problem! As other reviewers have mentioned, the Boppard church bells ring at every hour and they can be heard throughout Boppard (I'm not kidding). You won't hear the bells much if you stay in the rooms facing the river (the ones with the balcony), but if you stay in a room facing the town square (like the Superior Double Room) they can be really loud and distracting at night... Bring ear plugs!
8,0 Excellent
Pros: The visit was our third time to Boppard the second in this hotel, making sure we book a balcony room overlooking the Rhine which after all must be the reason most people come to this delightful town. Judging from our room it seems there may have has been an upgrade since our last visit. Overall this old hotel is good value for money - generally friendly staff, adequate breakfast, good wifi and the evening dinner menu draws quite a few guests. A glass of wine or two on the balcony watching the unending traffic flow on the river is very relaxing. (During our stay the cross-river car/passenger ferry collided side-on with a large river barge in broad daylight. Talk about emergency services springing into action. I guess the skipper of the "guilty vessel" may have limited future employment opportunities on the river.)
Cons: Our shower cubicle was quite small and may prove difficult to get into for "larger people". However the hotel is limited to what it can do given the constraints of original brick walls etc. From memory, our prior room from a couple of years ago had a larger bathroom so I guess all rooms may be different. At breakfast a lot of food can be quickly eaten by the guests - ourselves included - and the kitchen was not coping well whilst we were there. It was just a matter of waiting for, or asking for, resupplies. Only one coffee machine (excellent coffee) and a single domestic toaster. Most guests will come by car. The street in front of the hotel is one-way (west) so a bit of homework on Google maps will not go astray. Also it is only "street public parking". Must be nightmare in high season. It is cheap at 4euros for 24 hours but you need to first get a space! For check-in you can stop in front of the hotel to unload luggage but our initial park was about 300 metres away. On our final day we got a park in front of the hotel and didn't move the car! This of course stops you from driving to other worthwhile areas.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: We used this hotel as a base for daily hiking. We are in love! The room was a view on the Rhine, so what an amazing way to spend each night and or morning with a drink or a cup of coffee. This area is so peaceful, but you can watch all the boat traffic on the Rhine. The breakfast buffet each morning was the best of our trip, great selection, fresh selections, and the local bread...oh, yum! We would definitely stay here again. We did not use their restaurant but looks ok if you want pizza. There were great restaurant selection's nearby and a charming town. We will be back.
Cons: We didn't get bad service at check-in, it just seems they could have been a little more outgoing, but no real issues at all. The shower was very small. Not sure what they can do, working with the space they have, just very small.
9,2 Excellent
Pros: Comfortable room, excellent staff.
Cons: WiFi signal was very poor.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Second time and still a very nice place to stay
Cons: A little dated

Pros: Typical German breakfast. Good location for exploring the Rhine. Staff helped with luggage.
Cons: Nothing
10,0 Excellent
Pros: The hotel is in a peaceful area. We had a large comfortable bed and a good shower. There was a large garden equipped with sun loungers and outdoor furniture where you could relax and read after a hard day's sightseeing and enjoy the lovely view. Our hosts were very friendly and did their utmost to make us comfortable and welcome. Our host was also the chef in the restaurant, which was especially good, and we enjoyed exceptional meals here. He also spoke fluent English.
Cons: The hotel is a little way outside of Oberwesel and uphill and although you could walk down to the town you really need a car to get you back up to the hotel unless you are very fit! We did not find this a problem as we were using our car anyway to visitl the other villages on the Rhine.
6,3 Good
Pros: Its nice and beautiful location
Cons: We’ve got such a rude email from them. Complain about things and very rude email. If you give service stop behave like this . Its very bad behavior. !
5,0 Okay
Pros: 1 lady of the staff is very friendly and tried to look after everyone. They food is nice. The backyard-area is quiet big.
Cons: Service is a disaster. Totally understaffed and therefore: Waiting as a standard. Unfriendly and not at all obliging. Booked room with balcony - but the answer when I checked in: "this room does not exist!". Sure to had breakfast included - but somehow, it was gone when checked at the hotel. Maybe my fault. BUT: We went to the breakfast (with still 1 hour to go) - yet, everything was gone. No eggs, only 3 slices of cheese, only 1 sort of bread, coffee sitting on the stove for 3 hours ... an absolute no go for this price.

Pros: Superb location and room with balcony overlooking the river. Staff all very friendly and helpful - manager even provided us with free bikes for a day and went to the trouble of setting them up for us - many thanks!
Cons: Slightly pricey, but considering helpful staff and superb location, value for money was good. Had to pay for meals / extras in cash - card payments were not accepted here (except for the accommodation), in common with most places in area.

Pros: Lovely hotel with lovely staff. Also the fact that you get free local bus and train travel was amazing.

Pros: I checked in on a Sunday afternoon in late November, but the hotel was able to provide an excellent evening meal of traditional German food and local wine. Breakfast was also excellent with lots to choose from and good coffee. Oberwesel is a stunning place to visit and I was able to see amazing views of the Rhine from the Schönburg and the Günderodehaus. I also learned that the hotel has an interesting history.
Cons: Nothing I can think of - it was just the kind of place I hoped it would be.

Pros: The hotel has been updated beautifully and the location is central. A bit far from the train station if you have luggage but quite walkable if you don't. Food in the restaurant was excellent although the portions are huge. Share of you can. Staff (mostly family members) are very nice and helpful. Not all speak English however.
