Pros: The hotel is in a beautifully renovated mansion. The common areas were tastefully done and comfortable. Our room was good size, and nicely appointed. The breakfast was limited, but excellent.

9,0 Excellent
Pros: I stayed at Villa Soro for 4 nights. The main building is elegant with a very warm atmosphere. I had a corner room on the first floor of the newer building which had it owns semi-private outdoor space. Both were nice. The bedroom and bathroom were of good size and quite utilitarian. The newer house has no street noise, though the area is sufficiently quiet that I would be surprised if the original house is affected by traffic noise. The staff is very polite and helpful. I chose to stay at the Villa as I thought I might find interesting people with whom to talk. Breakfast seemed like an obvious time but the bar is actually pretty lively at night. My wish was fulfilled. Members of The Morgan Motor Club were there with their glorious convertibles (British racing green, of course) and there were 2 architects from Stockholm on their way to Bilbao.
Cons: My bathroom was not adequately cleaned. I suppose this was due to the maid believing that Americans only take showers. However, there were enough clues that I take baths. The tub wasn't cleaned (or not to my standards) and neither q-tips nor hand soap were replaced in a timely matter.. I found there was too much noise transmitted from the room or rooms above which may have been just the luck of the draw in whose overhead. Note that this really is a residential area and you will have a good 30 minute walk to the bus station or even most restaurants.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Public rooms really elegant. Staff so welcoming and helpful. Breakfast buffet splendid. Cosy bar with short but delicious tapas style menu in the evening. Location wonderfully peaceful but only 20 minutes walk or promptly ordered taxi from the lively 'old town'
9,6 Excellent
Pros: Lovely property very elegant. Was a bit of a stroll to the action. But you need to walk of the food right.

8,0 Excellent
Pros: The staff and location are both amazing. Our check-in experience was delightful, getting a recommended pintxos map and detailed instructions about the bus to Old Town. The view from our balcony and the one in the dining room is amazing. Breakfast was simple but a good value. There was no safe in the room, but there was a lockable wardrobe, which worked fine.
Cons: The bed could have been more comfortable and the decor was a little strange.
9,6 Excellent
Pros: We chose this property because we were in a rental car and concerned about parking in the city. It is on a hill on the outskirts of town, but with a bus stop in front of the hotel, we were in the old town with a quick 20 minute bus ride. The ocean view from the deck is stunning! The hotel staff was excellent, from the front desk to the maids and wait staff. Everyone was friendly and very helpful. The room and bathroom were impeccably clean as was the breakfast area and grounds. We had breakfast both mornings and the food was fresh and plentiful and coffee and teas were available at any time. The accommodations made our short visit to San Sebastián all the more enjoyable.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: This hotel is just charming! The welcome was the best ever, the host was really knowledgable and was able to answer all our questions on the spot. Pensión Aldamar - San Sebastian - Bedroom
5
9,0 Excellent (365 reviews)
R1 763+
Overview Reviews
A stay at Pensión Aldamar places you in the heart of San Sebastian, within a 10-minute walk of Concha Beach and Monte Urgull. Featured amenities include multilingual staff, luggage storage, and an elevator. Self parking (subject to charges) is available onsite.
8,8 Excellent
Pros: The Pension Aldamar is located in a great part of town, kind of on the side/outskirt of Old Town. Very walkable to all things San Sebastian! When we arrived at the hotel, a friend we were traveling with became violently ill in the elevator. Roberto at the front desk could not have been more gracious. He expeditiously cleaned up the mess and got my friend situated quickly in her room so that she could rest. For this excellent customer service I would return. Additionally, the location, cleanliness and value of the room are also great! (Additional plus, the Pinxtos bar downstairs on the corner serves some of the best croquettas and foie gras in the city. Definitely try!)
Cons: The only drawback to this property is the room size. Request room #10 for a corner view of bustling street below and a king-size bed, with a slightly larger bathroom. The other rooms are quite tight with rolling luggage and two people. Bed was OK. AC was welcome!
7,9 Good
Pros: Location
Cons: Very expensive for such a small room on the first floor of a mixed use building.
9,6 Excellent
Pros: Very clean and nice
Cons: All was good. Maybe the room space

Pros: Guys who ran it were helpful & location was great. We liked that there was coffee in tap outside the room too
Cons: It was very small & a mark on the bedsheet. Also i thought I could hear the buzzer from residents accessing pension but it could’ve been the air conditioning unit!

Cons: Shampoo and conditioner. They only had shampoo.

Cons: All good!
9,6 Excellent
Pros: Very clean spacious room. Coffee making facilities were a lovely touch. Towels provided for the beach.
Cons: If I was going again I'd book a balcony room as the room had no natural day light.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: All great. Free water and sodas in the mini bar a lovely touch. Loved the slower gel.
Cons: A bit musty smelling on the old staircase. You did ask! As you mention lighting, it could have been a little less bright by the bed. A bit of a shock in the morning!

Pros: Location Location Location Staff were exceptional helpful Cleanliness
Cons: Nothing, Zero faults with Pension Aldamar

Pros: It has a perfect location right on the beach. It is an elegant old world hotel. The staff were outstandingly helpful. Lovely view even though we thought we were getting only a city view.
Cons: The room appointments could have been better. The safe was broken. The shower didn't get hot enough. There wasn't enough light. Could have used another glass. Could have used more towels. Room turndown was at an inconvenient time so it wasn't done.
9,6 Excellent
Pros: It is a very nice old-fashion hotel with a history and very different flavor than many other hotels. Decor is a beginning of 20th century combined with modern facilities. The hotel is right on the beautiful swimmable beach. We extended our stay beyond original reservation through booking.com and staff was very accommodating.
Cons: breakfast buffet was rather rudimental

Pros: This is the perfect location for San Sebastian. In the City Centre and also next to the Beach.
8,8 Excellent
Pros: Location and quality superb
Cons: Didn’t know about construction outside our patio and couldn’t use it. No consideration by staff. We thought we were getting king bed but 2 twins pushed together. Not very romantic. Wait staff slow with service.
7,5 Good
Pros: The breakfast buffet was great and had lots of variety.
Cons: We got a “city view” room and the street across from us had construction while we were there so we woke up early every morning to construction sounds. Highly unpleasant. The hotel did not offer free water in the room like all the other hotels we stayed at for the same price. The decor is a bit outdated and furniture in the room needs to be nicer for the price of the hotel.
7,5 Good
Pros: I
Cons: 1. I was very surprised the breakfast was not included in the price quoted. 2. I was also very dissapointed that the room did not come with free bottles of water. 3. Also I was very dissapointed at the first room offered to us with city views was small and we had to pay an extra €100 per night over that quoted to get a decent size room with sea views. 4.The overall cost per night including breakfast worked out at €483.66 for a standard double room all be it with sea views.

Pros: Very friendly and helpful staff, good location just outside of Old Town near the main beach. Great water pressure in the shower! Air conditioning was a plus!
Cons: Noisy - balcony was over the main road so we had to sleep with all the windows and shutters closed. No 24 hour reception which is strange for the price and for a hotel - we needed to print some bus tickets for a bus the following morning and had to pay a restaurant to do it! Beds had some kind of plastic covering over the mattress so they were very squeaky every time you moved.

Located in San Sebastian (San Sebastian Centro), Pensión San Ignacio Centro is within a 15-minute walk of Concha Beach and Monte Urgull. Featured amenities include a safe deposit box at the front desk and an elevator.
8,0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent location. 10 minutes walk from the train station. Next to the cathedral, and only 10 mins walk to the old town yet so much more quiet. Room is very clean. Pillow is so nice to sleep on. Bed is comfortable. The host was very friendly and nice, but they also own another pension in the town, so no one is at the reception all day, but a phone is given to call if there's any issue/request.
Cons: The actual shower is a lot smaller than photos shown on the booking.com. Can barely turn around in the shower, and I'm not a big Asian.
7,0 Good
Cons: Size of Shower
7,5 Good
Pros: Excellent location Balcony and view were great.
Cons: The room was very small
7,5 Good
Pros: Centrally located and friendly service
3,8 Mediocre
Pros: Central location
Cons: When we arrived the Pensión was closed causing an anxious hour wait to see whether we had somewhere to stay. Made worse, we rang to be told the ‘manager is back tomorrow’. For the price the accommodation is very basic. We chose the Pensión on location but on reflection should have chosen a nice hotel 20min walk.
7,9 Good
Pros: The property was so central and convenient and Xavier was amazing such a good host and a real laugh! A nice sized room and bathroom overlooking the cathedral
Cons: Could be noisy late at night due to the fiesta but hey everybody was enjoying themselves!
4,2 Okay
Pros: The owner and cleaner was polite, and the location was excellent.
Cons: It was genuinely a horrible hotel- we only got one threadbare towel between 2 guests which they didn’t clean or replace throughout our whole stay. The shower was mouldy, walls peeling away, dusty with a damp smell, disgusting balcony, extremely unloved room which was nothing like the pictures advertised. So unimpressed- terrible value for money, absolutely filthy, the images online made it look excellent but it was honestly a low end hostel, rather than a hotel. Would never EVER recommend to anybody ever
8,8 Excellent
Pros: The location
Cons: Normal luxery like a hotel but nothing special
9,6 Excellent
Pros: Central location ideal for a few days stay. Great local restaurant we used for breakfast. But room did have a kettle which I do like . Owner very helpful and staff we met very polite.
9,2 Excellent
Pros: Location cleanliness value and friendly service and staff.

Pros: This hotel was a pleasant surprise. Very clean, light, and fresh. The staff was friendly and helpful. The breakfast was good. The room was large and very pleasant. I would definitely stay here again. The hotel was also located close to the beach. Not on it, but a short walk from it. It's on the top of a hill so the views of the city were wonderful. Parking was also easy.
Cons: Nothing
3,8 Mediocre
Pros: Very clean
Cons: I booked this hotel for £89 for one night and specifically sent them a message to say I was travelling with my dog just to double check they allowed pets. They emailed me back and said it was fine. On arrival I was told the dog could not go anywhere in the hotel except our room, but also he could not be left alone in the room, so this meant we couldn’t go and eat as we couldn’t take him but also couldn’t leave him in the room. I then got told it was an extra £22 for the dog but I was not told this at the time of booking. Then they advised they had no restaurant! I’d travelled all day and was starving but couldn’t eat. Also the location of the hotel was not described at time of booking it’s at the top of a very steep hill and unless your very fit you have to get a taxi up there.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Very considerate and helpful employees Clean rooms and comfortable beds Easy taxi access to city
9,6 Excellent
Pros: Everything was great.
1,0 Poor
Pros: Very clean bright bedroom. Very comfy bed and pillows. Lovely view and nice bathroom.
Cons: Slightly disappointed as we had informed them we were celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary. To be fair on arrival the girl did congratulate us. This was our fourth and last hotel to stay in. Every other one had champagne, one had chocolates and one had beautiful handpicked flowers. A small gesture would have been nice. Just saying .
9,6 Excellent
Pros: Superb room with comfy bed and great furnishings. Also a fantastic view.
7,9 Good
Pros: Beds were super comfy. The place was clean and the pool area was lovely!
Cons: Really noisy from the people above us. Felt like they were moving furniture all night long! Big walk up a steep hill, but good exercise!

Pros: Nice views and light rooms.
Cons: The lighting was too bright especially at night when it was not possible to it down.
7,5 Good
Pros: Room was pretty new and clean
Cons: Location was far from city centre. Breakfast was ok, but not great.

Pros: Wonderful in every way. The best location on the beach that was walkable to the best areas. Large room with great light and views. Nice restaurant.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: The staff couldn’t be more helpful , we had a wonderful trip and will definitely return
9,2 Excellent
Pros: I chose this location for it's proximity to La Concha Beach and based on other reviews. I won't lie, it is pricey, but it was a well worth it splurge! I requested a beach view and it was totally unbeatable. It was postcard perfect. The location was right on the "boardwalk" type of separation from the beach. Located steps away from restaurants on the beach as well as the Perla Spa. There is a fairly good restaurant in the hotel that has a reasonable breakfast buffet and great coffee. The hotel itself was quaint and charming. The elevator was old school and fun. The staff were friendly and informative. The rooms, while small, were updated and very clean. The balconies offered spectacular views and modern balcony doors that crack open in a safe way so you can fall asleep to the sound of the waves. Only about a 10 minute walk from the Old Town where the most amazing food scene awaits you. Go in another direction and you had great shopping and sight seeing. Would definitely stay here again!
Cons: The rooms were a little bit tight, but worth it for the view! Everything else was great.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Best option in all of Handaye overlooking the beach. Very new and clean. The only hotel with a terrace and great views. The beach had a 2 mile boardwalk and apparently the largest sand beach in all of the Basque coast.
8,0 Excellent
Pros: Location o the seaways lovely. Hotel restaurant is closed more than it is open. The building is very old and while this is somewhat charming, the slanted staircase is a safety hazard and the floors in the room are also slanted. Other elevator is difficult to use and there are no bell persons to assist. For the price I would expect more.
7,9 Good
Pros: Excellent location right on the beach.
Cons: Our room was small and quite dated with the decor and furniture. We could hear noise from the loft every time it was used.
8,3 Excellent
Pros: Nice location and clean room.
Cons: Not very sound proof roof room.
9,6 Excellent
Pros: Location and price!
8,8 Excellent
Pros: Great location right on the beach with a amazing view. DO PAY THE EXTRA TO GET A BEACH VIEW. Staff was very friendly, helpful, and had some good ideals of what to see in town. Breakfast was good and worth the money. Room was large, bath room nice. Board walk right out the back door. Lots of restaurants and shops near by.
Cons: No air conditioning. Did cool down at night, but We slept with the balcony door open. If you drive there, Parking a car in the garage is very very tight.
5,4 Okay
Pros: Employees attention, service and help disposition.
Cons: Temperature controls and room layouts. So, so.

8,3 Excellent
Pros: The situation near the sea and not too far from the old town was fine , the room was quiet despite being on a busy road and opposite the hotel receiption desk.
Cons: it was on a busy road so stopping to know how to drop off luggage was not easy, the entry was not very obvious it is a push button entry up some steps.
9,2 Excellent
Pros: Location is close to the beach and a 5 minute walk to the old town. Very clean. Nice staff. Good breakfast.
Cons: The bathroom is a bit tiny. Tip to the hotel: replenish the minibar after use.
8,8 Excellent
Pros: The location was superb, we could see the apartment from La Concha beach! The hotel was also extremely clean and tidy.
8,3 Excellent
Pros: Close to beach. Secure parking across the road. Reception staff very helpful.
Cons: Busy Street and a late bar across the road. Noisey Thurs to Sat.
7,9 Good
Pros: Location.
Cons: Accessibility to the hotel is terrible. You have to guess where to park your car and how to get to the second floor reception. Car park is very difficult and expensive.
8,3 Excellent
Pros: Staff were very helpful & friendly
Cons: Rooms on street front should be well double glazed to minimise noise
8,8 Excellent
Pros: Friendliness & responsiveness of staff. Bed was too hard & they added a softer layer. Breakfast was ample, varied & worth the money.
Cons: Checking in was super difficult because we had no prior indication of where/how to park. Didn’t know anything about yellow zig-zag lines. If attendant hadn’t come down to street to help us after a telephone call we might still be driving around San Sebastián. Suggest that hostal send an email with instructions.
8,8 Excellent
Pros: Wonderful staff, especially Ander, excellent location
7,0 Good
Pros: The young man on reception is charming, knowledgable & helpful. Breakfast is fine with good orange juice & nice staff
Cons: 108 faces San Martin a very busy road. On Saturday night we were woken by a crowd of young people partying outside where there are vending machines.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Close to everything
Cons: Not enough b/fast choices, ie cereals and maybe a hot egg choice(poached).

Pros: A great location and staff. Parking on the property. Very clean simple but good breakfast.
6,7 Good
Pros: Location, we walked to center. Breakfast was good and plenty
Cons: Close to road, so noisy. No AC, so windows open to sleep. No space on hotel parking, so had to battle for a space on the city lots. City lots were minuscule and park meters confusing
9,6 Excellent
Pros: Lovely supportive staff from a delightful hotel.
Cons: Shortly after exiting the hotel parking we were in collision with a concrete kerb which separates the vehicle lane from the cycle lane making the car non- drivable. The hotel receptionist dealt with all the requirements to enable us to arrive home safely without our vehicle and provided us with support & comfort at a stressful time. We cannot thank her enough for her help & compassion.

6,7 Good
Pros: Location is pretty good and staff were nice and helpful.
Cons: Impossible to not eat out for every meal as there is no facilities. Its 1 star so that's understandable but just a kettle or a few plates or bowls would be nice. Walls are very thin and could hear people coughing all night. No air-conditioning or fan do it gets quite stuffy.

Pros: First class hotel and service a little outside the main town(30 mins walk) but could not fault the hotel really
Cons: Breakfast was good -but I thought expensive at over 20 euros Also 22 Euros to park car overnight -but very secure So those add ons were not cheap-but this is a nice hotel and i would certainly stay there(and the wonderful City of San Sebastian) again

Pros: Nice and clean hotel with very helpful staff. A bit far from old city area.
Cons: Rooms a bit on the small side.
9,2 Excellent
Pros: Very good. NH Standard with all you need. Spacious rooms, coffee machine, water kettle, big wardrobes. Nice design, comfortable beds. 10 min walk to the beach, frequent busses into the old town from a very close stop. The windows can be opened!
Cons: The wooden floor had an ugly water damage in front of the bathroom, obviously for longer (room 430). I would expect that this gets fixed in this category. The duvet and its cover were stuffed under the heavy mattress to an extent I never experienced anywhere else. By trying to get it out, the entire bed was inevitably turned into a whole mess.
9,6 Excellent
Pros: Great location
Cons: Thought breakfast was pricey, even after a discount
7,1 Good
Pros: The staff were great! Good restaurant and the rooms were comfortable.
Cons: Nothing in particular.

10,0 Excellent
Pros: On our arrival the doorman Juan Antonio made a real extra effort to get our luggage, and get us parked as the access to parking was not easy to see. He was very attentive and helpful, got us all set up in hurry. An easy walk to the Promenade and beach area. Loved that the stairways are right in the lobby rather than a dingy stairwell, so you can use the stairs. Breakfast was great- loved that you could have eggs done anyway you liked- mmm omelettes. A wonderful stay
